U should react to overwatch 2 cinematic as it the best cinematic
Hey, Chris, you should react to the cinematic teaser for OW’s release which relates Recall because it is Winston’s message to call his friends back.
ua-cam.com/video/pwFu8kEsUW4/v-deo.html
XxNoahxX Zero Hour should be last. He will not enjoy it as much as you have if he does not see the other videos first and know the characters.
@@noriun9181 Not before reacting to "Rise and Shine", it's better to review them in order so you know more about the characters before the "ensemble"
"Infiltration", "Hero", "Shooting Star" are stand alone, so they are not as important to watch before reacting to "Zero Hour"
@@martianunlimited true
Zero Hour is gonna be a great watch when it comes around
I saw when this was posted and assumed it was zero hour. That's the one I'm looking forward to as well.
Zero Hour is so fucking good. I love the soundtrack! Can’t wait for that video!
Also, Meme Hour is really good as well. It’s the same Zero Hour video but full of memes
Thats what i was thinking too cant wait
He’s gonna love it I can’t wait
hm u miss the part whre he hands the glases over and then the focus is changeed on the nameplate through the glasses. (the name is winston) xD
nice little detail^^
i was waiting for him to notice in the second half :(
Also (at least retroactively) explains why Winston raged in the cinematic trailer when Reaper stepped on them.
Don't forget that they set that up by focusing on his eye when he's first shown as a kid.
@@JoonasD6 yeah but he did not watch the 1rst trailer ... which is unfortunate... thats why he didn't knew who Reaper was in this one :/
It was a really creative shot/transition/reveal as his name on the badge comes into focus, too!
The masked guy called Reaper, or Gabriel Reyes. He is one of the founder commanders of Overwatch as well as Soldier76. He was a part of the super-soldiers program with Soldier76, so they both were basically Captains Americas. Reaper was better, but when the time comes to decide who will be the frontman, the government choose a more positive and calm Soldier76 - Jack Morrison at the time, he became a strike commander of newly organized Overwatch. Reaper (Gabriel Reyes at the time) became commander of Blackwatch - secret strike team inside Overwatch. That was a first step to darkness.
Actually, Genji (ninja guy from Dragons) and McCree (cowboy guy from Reunion) were part of his team. They did some dark shit and when it's all became public Overwatch ended up in the middle of shitstorm which finished by Overwatch disbandment. Then Reaper decided that he is sick of this shit and joined to a terroristic group called Talon. Talon is main bad guys of the OW universe who are thriving and making money on war.
The interesting thing why he is so whispy. OW lore tells us that he became a victim of an experiment made by one of his scientists in Blackwatch - Moira O'Deorain (she has a short story as well). She tried to do stuff with his regeneration abilities but messed some things up and now he decomposes and regenerates at same time in astronomic speed.
Just to clarify one this Reyes was better as leader of Overwatch when it was just a strike team of 6 members (IIRC) as Reyes was better then Morrison in small unit tactics, but he had harsh personality and some issues with authority that made Morrison the better choice as leader of Overwatch when it became a large international organization with hundreds if not thousands of members, essentially Morrison was a better administrator then Reyes and more importantly Morrison was a better figurehead for the organization.
>Then Reaper decided that he is sick of this shit and joined to a terroristic group called Talon.
Should probably note that it is still unknown what exactly happened. Blackwatch group did some notable fuck-up so the people and the govs started highlighting it. Soldier 76 and Reaper were still friends/family at that point. So Overwatch tried to deal with this mess. THEN some event happened that is described as some inner conflict with an explosion at the end (where Soldier presumably lost his legs and Reaper his... face? body? idk, the timeline with his changes is messed up). Since then Soldier 76 completely changed his ways to more violent ones and is really into killing Reaper. Reaper has joined Talon and is really into killing all ex-Overwatch agents. What exactly happened is still to be revealed.
Prieston wasn't the big thing that revealed Blackwatch the thing that happened on the Havana map? Where Reaper kills the target against orders and had to fight out a massive Army? I'm sure the fight wasn't over when they got back to the base
You can also see Gabriel on one photograph 4:15. He's standing on the left end.
From what I understand, Mercy tried to save Reaper after the Swiss HQ explosion but at the time Reaper was undergoing experimentation with Moira's work. (With consent, btw, going by the Moira origin vid.) So when the two combined they did that to him. It would make sense in a way give Reaper is able to form-shift (like Moira) and "technically" cannot die (the rez.) Assumedly her attempts ended in "failure" and he was declared dead, which is why nobody knows he's alive as Reaper. (Canonically, anyway.)
My recommendation for the next overwatch cinematic is either "Infiltration" or the "Overwatch Cinematic Trailer" if you are interested in a bit of lore.
"Zero Hour" should be watched last if you care about the lore order, if not, its surely one of the best ones.
It IS the best one
@@maellajeunesse8018 Yeah also the latest, so it is a good showcase of how the talent of the Overwatch cinematic department has grown.
@@tarmil My favortie part is where he isn't even gonna read my message❤
@@tarmil I removed it, are you happy Karen?
Infiltration!
I recommend watching Zero Hour last. As an overwatch player i think its better to know the characters before you watch it. As for the next one to watch, Infiltration is my recommendation since it introduces you to Reaper (the evil dude in the cinematic) and a few others
Zero Hour is really bad. Only the "blizzard's favorites" are in it.
@@SpartanOli I mean that's pretty usual for games companies and it certainly doesn't make the cinematic 'bad'. It's one of their best in my opinion, and two of my favourite heroes weren't in there, one hasn't even been in a cinematic yet.
@@SpartanOli Bad? I completely disagree, it has all the "good guys" in it that are left from overwatch, there is no reason to have widow or reaper in it
agree, Infiltration is great. its one of my favorites for sure. and definitely save Zero Hour for last, its a great conclusion to all the other cinematics.
@@BBBerti Didn't talked about reaper nor widow. And not just that, but the cinematic is super cliché. And, it doesn't have "all" the good guys.
23:25 - Yes, Chris. This is Winston's ultimate ability called "Primal Rage" in which he becomes stronger, more durable, and melee attacks. Also, the failed shield generator we see in this cinematic is also an in-game ability called "Barrier Projector."
As a little more of a side note, in the game, Reaper reloads his weapons by simply throwing away his empty guns and pulling new ones out of thin air. It's just a funny quirk for a game to make him look cool, but can be a bit jarring in a cinematic for people unfamiliar with Overwatch.
18:30 You forgot how they made you read the „professors“ name on his coat, through the moving glasses in his hand. I think that would also be a really nice detail to mention. 😉

Everyone is telling you to watch the Overwatch animated short called "Infiltration" next and I agree.
Yeah that's Winston's long charge 'ultimate' ability. Lots more health no gun but lots of arm flailing, enemies getting knocked back alot for 10sec.
The jump cooldown is alot shorter too.
The health isnt that much anymore because of the powercreep burst heals caused
I Love the cinematic "hero" from the Game Overwatch
A meteor flying pass to the baby Winston? I've been playing this game for 4 years and never recognized that, but you found that at the first time you see it!
i really recommend seeing "Rise and Shine" overwatch cinematic. its pretty cool and emotional
@@pandarue same pepehands
uhg that one's SO GOOD
One of my favs cinematics.. i really love the expression of Baby winston when he sees the Earth, the meaning of the cinematic it fills me with hope in life.. i don't know but my god, i love Overwatch Cinematics..
You should see Heroes of The Storm Trailer cinematic! its amazing, it got Fights, Rock music... everything! ;) you will love it
yes, HotS trailer is a really nice one - not really a story, more of a cool fighting scene, but it should be worth the watch
oh yeah the hanzo / alex cinematic for heroes of the storm is really cool! :D
Can't wait for when you get to experience Zero Hour Cinematic! Truly breathtaking
More like lame af, good graphics and animation can't save terrible choreography and writing
The bad guy; Reaper; was once an Overwatch Agent named Gabriel Reyes. He was the leader of the black-ops group called "Blackwatch" which was kind of the "Get the job done at all costs, and don't let yourself be seen" section of Overwatch. They did all the dirty work that Overwatch couldn't make public.
Gabriel; before becoming Reaper; was just a normal man. Both Genji (Dragons) and McCree (The cowboy) were part of Blackwatch under Gabriel.
After a mission gone wrong, Jack Morrison (Soldier 76. You'll learn about him eventually.) who was the leader of Overwatch got into a massive fight with Gabriel which led to the building they were in exploding. Everyone thought both men were dead. Mercy (The angel looking chick) found Gabriel and "resurrected" him, and turned him into this half alive, half dead being.
He decided to take revenge on Overwatch and everything it stood for, and joined the terrorist organization "Talon"; of which he is now one of the council members. (One of it's leaders) He would go on to recruit people like Widowmaker and Sombra.
This is almost perfect but there is one thing wrong with this sorry. I don't want to be rude. But Moria was the one who gave Reaper those abilities not Mercy. But you probably already knew that, I just wanted to mention that since i didn't see it in your comment.
Mercy didn't resurrect him. He survived because of the abilities Moira enhanced him with during their Blackwatch days. Also Widowmaker was recruited before Gabriel started working for Talon. Gabriel was friends with Lacroix (Widowmaker's husband) before she killed him. Widowmaker also shot Ana during a mission where Jack Morrison was also present so he couldn't be "dead" thus the Swiss headquarters couldn't have yet exploded. Why do people still spread this false information ._____.
@@Wexiina1996 Because there's literally a voice line in game where Marcy sais "Gabriel, what happened to you?" And reaper replies "I don't know Doc, you tell me!" With a condescending tone as if he's blaming her for his condition.
Not to mention, Reapers story was in the game long before Moira was even a concept.
Moira did do experiments on Gabriel while he was in Blackwatch, your right. But Mercy was the one who physically resurrected his body. The combination of the two turned him into the undead creature he is now.
He didn't survive, and Moira didn't resurrect him.
@@Saimeren The voice line refers to the fact that Mercy is a doctor and should thus be able to tell what's wrong with Reaper herself. It's a joke make by Reaper. Reaper's story might have been in the game but the explanation wasn't. There was hints but never anything carved in stone. Overwatch is a game where with new heroes and events come new lore info. That has happened many times. For example Talon has been led by Doomfist according to lore even before Doomfist as a hero was released.
Do you think only the lore that was in the game when it was released is canon and all lore released after it is just some random stuff the lead writer Michael Chu came up with for no reason? Moira's origin story gives a pretty good picture of what happened to Gabriel and how he became Reaper. On the other hand why would Mercy even ask what happened to Reaper in the first place if she had been the one to resurrect him? She's way too intelligent not to figure it out herself if she had truly been the one responsible for his survival. I know many fans are bitter that Michael Chu decided not to write it in the way many had imagined after the alleged hints but that doesn't mean they can just ignore the official lore info and come up with their own.
HEY! before you watch zero hour like everyone’s saying. watch rise and shine as they share a character
Dude, ill quote Tracer here: "It's been too long!". Do OW reactions more often! :) And don't leave out any of them! BTW, looking good ;)
Him: 43 days, that‘s sounds like me
His arms: Am I a joke to you
This is gonna be amazing! You should watch Infiltration next. It's great, that's all I can say-
Yeah Infiltration one is so cool.
my favourite one
23:25 yes, it's his super move where he gets angry
I found to ur channel because I like ppl reacting to stuff i like and as overwatch player i enjoy ur reactions to the cinematics. But not only this, I rly enjoy ur professional thoughts and points on the making of them and their adaptation in real movies or ur work. Keep up the good work, loving it :)
"We know some of them"
"Tracer..." o_o...
Yes, he said it, you're right
I'm so glad you watched this video!
!
Some of the great movies you've seen have had great villains.
I recommend Overwatch Animated Short "Infiltration"
, which features a fascinating villain.
I love when y’all watch these overwatch cinematics and I like ur take on them
I enjoy the cinematics ten times more when I watch his videos. Idk why but he makes them seem soooo much better🥰
Yesssss I've been waiting for this one.
Also you're right "that bad guy" Reaper is pretty cool, not just cool but awesome. Yeah that's Reaper he was once a good guy and with Overwatch, but then he and another character called Soldier76 were injured in an explosion at least I believe, take that part with a gain of salt. The explosion part, but then he was healed up by another Talon member called Moria and he was given those abilities seen in this Animated short. Then Reaper aka Gabriel Reyes joined Talon. At least I believe that's how it went.
That's basically exactly how it happened
@@Fours444 ok thanks man I appreciate the reply, I didn't want to get my main's backstory wrong I would feel sad if I messed that up. I would have been ashamed with myself.
Rise and Shine is one of my absolute favorites of the shorts, highly recommend! (Zero Hour should be watched last though, as its the most recent and has some big lore events in it)
Cool breakdown. Thank you for reacting and commenting on this one.
I totally missed the comet-reflection moment until you called it out.
I'll check out Filmora9. I may need to do some very basic video editing soon for work.
Keep it up and thank you again. I'm really enjoying these!
It's not really a full length one and you can't really do a full length video but the Overwatch extra short short "Are you with me?" for the prerelease.... Always gives me goosebumps when the last line is given. Highly recommend, it's only a couple of minutes and canonically happens right around this short's timeframe!!
I'm surprised that this is such a rare suggestion=)
I enjoy watching these overwatch ones can’t wait for the next one
Connor you are the best and you always make me smile and I love watching your channel
@13:45 The shield-animation looks a lot like the one Anduin did in the Warcraft "Battle for Lordaeron"-cinematic where he makes a yellow dome to heal his troops.
I LOVE THE OVERWATCH CINEMATIC VIDEOS YOU MAKE
The next video in sequence is the Overwatch cinematic trailer. It's the first cinematic they released. It takes place right after this video and shows you more of Winston, Tracer, Reaper and Widowmaker. It's a really good one.
I hope you read this. In the cinematic ,,Dragons"... while Genji stood up the 2nd time after his brother, you can clearly see the Horizon Lunar Colony behind him on the Moon. That's where Winston and one more from the heroes were raised. Btw Reaper is Winston's counter hero in the game so don't be surprised for him defeating him easily 1st time. Also watch ,,Hero", ,,Inflitration", and the other one remaining before watching ,,Zero Hour". Have a nice day!
The outro song of all of these trailers is so inspiring. I dunno it always makes me want to go and play.
Reaper (the guy with the shotguns) is a former OW agent who has betrayed the organization and has caused the public opinion to shift to terminate OW. You can see him on the far left of the group picture at the beginning.
Yeess man, finally more overwatch. Dude it feels so good getting compliments of my fav game xD, keep going.
Reaper is the former commander of Overwatch's black ops division - Blackwatch. He went through genetic experiments conducted by one of the other members to gain his powers (rapid cell degradation and regeneration) and after a disagreement with Jack Morrison (the captain of Overwatch) they started fighting inside the Overwatch HQ which resulted in an explosion that presumably killed them both. They actually survived and Reaper joined the terrorist organization Talon so he could hunt all former Overwatch members.
Also yes, Winston's yellow electricity effect is his most powerful move in-game, lorewise he can only do it when he gets very angry.
A series that i think is overlooked when it comes to trailers is the left 4 dead and left 4 dead 2 trailers. Like they are a decade old and i love them.
18:32 there is a cool shot of using the glasses to focus the camera on his name tag, revealing the Docotrs name is Winston
#21:50 The character's name is Gabriel Rayes, also known as Reaper, and is highlighted in the shorts "Infiltration" and the 2014 announcement cinematic. He has a history with Overwatch and is heavily linked to the current state of Overwatch.
I see Chris has an Edgelord side to him :)
#23:30 That's Primal Rage, Winston's ultimate move which is triggered when his glasses is crushed.. (he goes on a rampage with additional health and damage)
Great videos always a pleasure to watch. :)
Reaper was first seen in the cinematic announcement trailer for Overwatch. Storytelling-wise the most important thing with Recall is that pretty much all the animated shorts feature or are about people's responses to the recall Winston activated. (The actual message he sends is a video clip seen when you first open the game or every time if you're on console)M worth checking out too.)
Funny little detail around 3:36 in this video, when Winston is watching the news he's also watching (or playing) a Hearthstone game which is another game from Blizzard :D
more overwatch animation please.. , "Hero" and "Inflitration" is amazing
You need to watch the overwatch short “infiltration” it involves 3 characters you haven’t met and it’s my favorite short
My favorite character is the reaper guy. he is very powerful. special move, is one of the best in the game and so he comes equipped with these two revolvers and only takes about 3 or 4 shots to actually execute a kill so it comes really in handy when you come from the side
Have you seen the Borderlands 2 character short for Krieg? It’s called a meat Bicycle built for two. It’s about a psycho with a inner human voice. Very cool, a fan favorite of the Borderlands series.
27:28 That's a spot on explanation on how to use callbacks. Introduce something early on and it will be important later.
Hey Chris, nice review! id love to see your reaction to the final fantasy 14 cinematics, id say start from ARR and move slowely up to the current DLC cinematic, to see, their progress of making cinematics and improvement. im really excited to see your reaction to it!
To add some further insight into the cinematic, the recall of Winston is the trigger for the "Glory and Honor", the "Reunion" and the "Dragons" cinematics, which you already covered, and the "Rise and Shine" (not yet covered). After "Rise and Shine", I suggest you go for the "Zero Hour", as it is the logic progression. However, you can do as you prefer :).
I really enjoy your content, keep it up!
That guy is Reaper. Used to be Overwatch's 'covert operations' leader and one of the co-founders of Overwatch turned villain. He basically can de-materialize into a fog, and... has an unlimited supply of shotguns in his coat.
Seriously, the dude doesn't reload. He just tosses the empty shotguns aside and picks up new ones. You can see that happen in the animation.
I’m excited to see what you’ll think about “Zero Hour.” Nothing beats Dragons to me but it’s a great cinematic
Opening the game there's a little cinematic with the history of the world of Overwatch which could be great for context if you are interested
@27:15 - They zoom out to give us the impression of the vast emptiness. The room is very bare bone, nothing really in it, but it is also a very big room. Not a small closet. It also emphasizes the vast emptiness of space, the distance between the station they are on and the planet Earth, and make the two characters look very small and insignificant in comparison.
The cinematic „Hero“ from Overwatch. It’s one of my favourit
So one pretty important detail that you missed is when the scientist holds his glasses and the focus of the cinematic camera switches to his ID on his lab coat, which is being outlined by the glasses, emulating the glasses are in fact helping the viewer see the name on the ID badge. FYI, Winston (the gorilla) adopted the name of the original Harold Winston, who took care of him, after an uprising of the other gorillas in the colony where they killed all the humans there.
15:42 hearthstone in the background on TV is cool
Once again an awesome overwatch review. I would love to see your reaction to the overwatch sigma origin story. Thanks :)
There are origin stories videos made when a new hero is release. So far, Sigma origin story is the one that gave the more chills to everyone watching. It is quick, like 3-4mn, but god damn it is good
Would love to see your analysis of the World of Warcraft Legion, Warlords of Draenor, and Mists of Pandaria cinematics!!
I love how you are watching this as one of yhe last cinematicd when it's really the first
Another small detail.. I think the keys on the keyboard were the same as the symbols on the wall in the room when Winston was a baby
It is Winston's special move but the trick is that it is his "primal rage" and only activates when he doesn't have his glasses. That's why he looks at his hand to check if he has them on and then laughs when he sees that he doesn't.
Back at it again with the lessons @ w@
For the main Overwatch videos you should see 'Rise and shine' then 'Zero Hour' to continue the arch
but if you want to see another video with Reaper in it, check out 'Infiltration'
This one actually makes me tear up when I watch it
Love your reactions
The order of the overwatch vídeos is Recall at the beginning and Zero Hour at the end, from there it doesnt matter the order, just a few references of recall in other videos, in Dragons is a simple reference When Genji said that its time to pick a side, in Reunion Echo and Mcree scene talk scout Winston, also un the beginning of Honor and Glory talk about Winston message. For the next video it depends on what you want to see, Overwatch route Rise and Shine, Antagonist route Infiltration, Extra route Shooting Star and Comedy route Junkertown
He goes super saiyan (Primal Rage) when his glasses break. Also, the bad guy is named Reaper, he is a former Overwatch Agent.
The Overwatch Cinematic Trailer actually does a really good job of explaining more about Winston’s Primal Rage, Reaper’s Death Blossom, and a few other characters as well. It‘s just as good as the animated shorts, but since it’s a trailer it goes into more general backstory than the character focused shorts do. It’s still phenomenal.
Hero, Rise and Shine, Infiltration, Shooting star!!!
Hey Chris,
Minor detail but I believe during the earth shot it we are backing away with the full intent of creating distance:
I believe this to either be the last time these two characters were together or the moment that changed his life and since our resident scientist adopts the handle of "Winston" I believe he looked up to the man as something of a father figure or mentor much in the same way as Uncle Ben is to Peter Parker in the 2002 SpiderMan.
if you're interested in who that badass black shadowy person is, you should totally check out "Infiltration" (it's an OW animated short too)!!
Winston's ultimate ability was showed here, its his *Primal Rage* basically he gets mad and hulk smash. for more of it check out *Overwatch Cinematic Trailer*
I can't wait to see your reaction to "Zero Hour," it's by far the best Overwatch cinematic to date IMO - but I understand wanting to save it for last since it's the most recent, both in terms of release and lore timeline.
React to "Rise and shine", very emotional:)
The glasses amplify the name badge at one point, showing us where the name “Winston” came from.
A recommendation is The Warframe Cinematics pls
"Always remember, never accept the world as it appears to be. Dare to see it for what it could be"
One of the best qoutes i heard in my entire life. The person who came up with this at blizzard is a genius.
The spooky smoky guy is Gabriel "Reaper" Reyes. At a cellular level, he is constantly dying and regenerating. He cannot be killed.
I sounded like Reaper said "Ooooooohhhhh shiiiiiiit" at the end 😂
that's his primal rage my frand, my guess on that is he takes enough damage that his anger becomes the weapon. In game, he gets more health and hits hard, sending you flying or he juggles you in a corner so yeah.
I'd love to see your reaction to Archives Event and sigma backstory
I was searching this video yesterday, and today here it is..
Is it coincidence?? 🤔
I came back to home and i see new video ohhhhh yessssssss
I would recommend you watch all of the Overwatch Hero origin stories. It would help you get to know all of the heros better, but the animation is so cool. The style varies from short to short so it’s not all the same. My personal favorite is either Moira’s or Soldier 76’s.
Overwatch cinematic “Rise and Shine” is also awesome!!!
Important details you missed there, was the when Winston handout his glasses, its focus on the professor name shield and you'll see. from who winston got his name. Small details. Otherwise, It was detailed as usual. I love your work!
I can't wait for Zero hour its one of the best!
Shooting Star & Zero Hour ist brilliant !
Man watching back most of the overwatch cinematic make me cry for some reason :((((
You need to watch, react and breakdown the animation ‘Fight gods’ on UA-cam because it is absolutely incredible.
U should've Watched Winston's Message With this, that's the message he sends Everyone when he presses Yes here, which also tells us A Lot about what's happening, It's the one that was mentioned at the Start of Honor and Glory, Rise and Shine short and the one that Everyone respond to and Assemble in Zero Hour
i love these videos! i would love to see a reaction 'hero' or 'infiltration'!!
