    Using the clamp to bend the strip to draw a curve is one of those things that I've probably done and seen and forgotten about three times already. Now I can be really impressed and then forget about it tomorrow for the fourth time.

    • @JohnHeisz
      @JohnHeisz  6 років тому +2

      If you can hold out for another day there's a gold star in it for you :)
      I had a drawing bow, but took the string off to use for something else, and then lost the box. Typical!

    • @krtwood
      @krtwood 6 років тому +3

      I have a "drawing bow" aka piece of plywood and a string and it's really fiddly to get it where you want it. Tighten clamp until it's right seems a lot simpler.

    I just discovered your channel. After watching a few videos I love your relaxed approach to woodworking and your philosophy on "straight enough". It's refreshing compared to many channels that focus on gadgets and using the latest trendy tools to get somewhat mass-produced-looking results. I look forward to digging into your past videos.

    Great simple, quick project. This would be a great project for someone wanting to stretch their skills if they're a fairly new woodworker. This would be a great project for my youngest son who is not quite an "advanced beginner" in building projects. He has a circular saw, jig saw, and an orbital sander - most everything in tools he would need. Thanks for the video, John. Oh, and I've been watching Keith's channel for a while now.

  • @eeguy77

    Watching you free hand and layout this chair was really interesting and educational to someone like me. You really do the "maker" videos than a lot of other people building furniture from construction lumber but don't do things like allow for wood movement.

    Just finished making two of these. WOW what an awesome project for a beginner like me. I made one slight modification: a cup holder in the right arm rest using a 3.5” hole saw. Now I just need to stain them and maybe use some poly. Love your channel.

    • @danflurry
      @danflurry 5 років тому

      Done! I opted for dark walnut Danish Oil to color them, followed by four coats of exterior poly. Thank you so much for the Sketchup model!

    They will last at least a few years. This spring I pulled up 3 sheets of 3/8" CDX ply I was using as a walkway in my always wet backyard. They went through a Buffalo Fall and Winter and after letting them dry out a few weeks I ended up making a project from them. Super dirty and a bit warped but they were structurally fine.
