Hello again James; just got through watching your build of the Adirondack chairs! As usual your directive was spot on! my last project from you was my contoured box joint sitting bench. The one thing I did different was I made my bench only four (4 ) feet long! It sits at the front, by my entrance door, which is shaded by a over-hang!. At 92 yrs I sometimes sit there and watch the traffic going by. Ha Ha For my shop, I made the push stick, actually I made two (2 ) ! I used oak for the center and redwood for the sides, ( not the best choice of wood )! But then again, I only play at wood-working for the fun of it! Building one of those chairs sounds like a bear to build, but it would sure keep me busy for a few days (or more )I can't work as fast as you young guys! but as usual, a great job, and I'll keep on watching, Bye now Frank
I've watched a lot of your videos because I wanted to learn how you approached different things, but in the back of my mind the whole "How can I make money woodworking, how can I market my products?" was there. You've done a fine job here and I'll be buying all of your plans as a result. Thanks!!!!
Thanks for this video. I just found your channel yesterday, and I have to say this is most practical Adirondack chair plan I've ever seen. I've studied/researched at least 50 different, but all quite similar Adirondacks style chairs, and always disappointed by their lack of practicality. I'm gonna be 57yrs old soon, I can't get out of chair that sets me on the ground without a great deal of stress and strain. Young and skinny people are even challenged by the typical Adirondack design. But not your chair design. I'm going to invest in your building plans and I look forward to my 1st chair.
James, I've been watching you a long time and I was beginning to think that you were on a hiatus with the videos... I am glad to see you posting again. I think your content is OUTSTANDING. When you make a build video or a video like this, they are always great and informative. I appreciate the content and all of your effort. Please keep it up! AJ Smith - Jax, Fl.
5/18/22; thx James for explaining details of your Anorondac chairs. Your offering plans, prices, advertising suggestions, word-of'mouth techniques was most encouraging! Thanks!🛠🔧⚙👍👍👍😊
Love your channel. Did your Always learning science channel get going? I check often but don’t see anything new. I love science was hoping to watch. You are a natural and very good teacher.
I am a finish carpenter and handyman for a living and I’m so grateful to get all my business through word-of-mouth. Even so, my dream is to be a woodworker so I do not have to commute as much for jobs. This is the most encouraging and inspiring video I’ve seen on UA-cam yet. Thank you so much, I look forward to seeing more Content
Its a really cool design, and I appreciate the time you put into thinking through all the aspects to make it comfortable for everyone who sits in it, and buildable/profitable for every shop that wants to make it, that is not an easy thing to do.
I'm a cabinetmaker. I've never built a chair, but I do know it takes a lot of development to make a comfortable chair, and a wooden chair especially. I'm glad to hear you addressed the issue of getting in and out of an Adirondack chair easily, and redesigned the popular shape. Good job!
I just came in from my workshop where I was building one of these and saw the video. These are starting to take of for me! Thanks for offering all the plan's videos and CNC files!
thanks man you all are the best you leave no stone unturned I have ordered and built several pieces using your plans you not only offer spot on plans you make a perfect video to show how to do it
I don’t know why I haven’t seen your videos earlier, but I am kind of bingeing on your playlist. Your work is great. You are a very good teacher and I am grateful for your encouragement and guidance. Plus, I am glad your family is working with you. Thank you for your posts and I know you are helping other beginners like me.
Good video James & Family. I’m looking forward to seeing more of this type of video. I’ve bought several of your plans for jigs & the adult version of the Adirondack chair. Top shelf 👍🏼 I ordered the paper templates & all of the parts are cut out of 3/4” ply. Just waiting on getting the wood now to build a set for my Daughters wedding gift. Thank you.
I bought your plans about a year ago but still haven't built one. We took advantage of this crazy housing market and sold our home and are building a custom home. I'm hoping to be able to do this as a supplemental income. You do an exceptional job at explaining the process of the build. Thank you so much for sharing these plans with us.
Been loving the Adirondack/woodworking business series you've been doing the last few videos,it absolutely helps me as I'm in my first year of my woodworking business/obsession and I can use all the advice I can get. Please keep them coming James!
Yes. Please keep these kind of videos coming. Often woodworkers show how to make something, and they do make a living at it. But without a frame of reference, it's hard for us amateurs/hobbyists to know what to ask for in pricing their product. What made you settle on $450 a chair? Do you use a set labor rate? Do you use materials costs with a multiplier? A combination or something else? Thanks for your videos. I've made several of the items you've done and been very happy with them. Thank you.
Thank you very much for this video! I love this type of content but then again I watch all the videos so there’s that. I am in dire need of front porch furniture and I will try my hand at these!
I bought my set of plans to support you. They look great in the shipping tube in the closet. Maybe some day I'll have time to do something. Making money making things with wood seems like a very enjoyable job.
Just ordered the chair package with templates as well as a Thor’s hammer! My kids and I are going to knock out a batch and see what we can do!!! Thanks James! Glad you are back making videos again. It’s been hard waiting!!!
Yes please, keep these coming. Just starting to to transition into full time woodworking from being a home improvement contractor for many years. Time to slow down but I want to make money too!
I've been making and selling cedar Adirondack chairs for the last 5 years full time. It's a great business to get into. We've recently moved into a larger shop and upgraded most of our equipment including a Laguna 4x8 CNC. We are currently make 600-800 chairs each year. It takes a while to find your market but once you do the main problem you'll have is fulfilling orders.
I have bought plans from another builder with all the different style chairs. The plans were "ok". But then I came across yours and the plans were much better. @@KingsFineWoodworking Hey, in these times when you dont hear from somebody for an extended period of time you wonder! Good new, looking forward to it !
Hi James, thanks for the videos and the great Ideas. I first found your channel a couple of years ago and ended up making the Ultimate Table Saw Sled after that. It has been a wonderful item to have around the shop. Last year I saw the chair plans when you first did the video on that and thought it would be a fun and possibly good money making project but didn't get past the thinking stage. When you rereleased the video a few weeks back I realized it could not only be a good shop project and something my family could benefit from (we could use a set of chairs). And with that in mind I bought the plans and the paper templates. I showed them to my grandson who just turned 11 and he and I are going to make the first prototypes. Once we get going we will also be getting the rocker and the kid size plans as well as the tables. Once I sell my first set I plan to as a thankyou to you also buy one of your Thor's hammers. I thought you would get another sale and I would get a great mallet. I currently have a home business cutting glass and fixing windows as I get older I am taking on less big glass projects and since I already have traffic through my shop, having sample chairs would be a good addition to my line. I made my first wood project when I was a teen with my dad.
James, thanks for the great video. I would love to see more content on your channel like this. I will be ordering some plans from you in the near future as I live in a very rich resort area and these are the best Adirondack chairs I’ve ever seen.
The chair really looks sweet, James! 😃 I'm definitely going to try it some day! About the video, just keep them coming! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Hi James, it's Moe from Toronto. I have recently found your channel. I absolutely love all your videos. I especially love these chairs. I would really appreciate the plans and templates.
I really enjoy the narrative, how you market these products, and how you price them. I would love to see an overview like this on many of the other products you have made, jewelry boxes, etc. Also, it would be interesting to see how you came up with a price for any of these items. I have often found that I either overcharge or undercharge, and rarely hit it right for consistent sales. Thanks for sharing this
love the video, been making cutting boards and other basic projects. I have several people wanting Adirondack chairs and I like yours the best. I'm 74 and have trouble getting out of them, so these look like the ticket

There's a guy in my country (UK) that makes Adirondack chairs, not as nice as yours I might add, and he ships them around the country. I believe he ships them in 2 parts with instructions to assemble. No idea how he's done that but the guy has been fully booked for the last 2 years solid!
Great video James! I have been subscribed to your channel for quite some time now and love your content. I really appreciate you offering these plans and giving advice about how to market the chairs. Glad you liked the video! When you get caught up on projects, you’ll have fun with these. And hopefully make some good money selling them too.
Thanks for a great video, I just started to do outdoor furniture, just picked up your plans with the templates too...looking forward in making some for family first and than hopefully getting some sales...Cheers Danny//
