it is so great to be in the company, so to speak, of other johnny rivers fans. he was never as popular as i thought he should have been and none of my friends were as into his music as i was. i love this clip and have played it about a dozen times. thanks for sharing it!
Johnny Rivers definitely does not get enough love. He had (and still has) a great voice, and he delivered every song with real conviction. It's almost as if he was too good for his own good.
Johnny was on top in the be 60s through the 70s him and Elvis hitting the country tours. All over the USA. He owned all his music he had hand in writting . He settled to raise his family and stayed with the Whiskey a GoGo! That made him slide from A Number One Rating . On the Billboard. But he kept buissy playing his be music. He just made his come back not to long ago. He's out their gain. Things are different these. Days . For all. The great older artist. 🐦🤗🌟
"Under Your Spell Again" is a great song--and this is the best version of it. This is truly rock 'n' roll: the intersection of blues and country. Rivers had a great voice, and he absolutely sold every song that he sang.
Always knew he was a great artist, but didn't know he also was such a cutie. What a pleasant, unpretentious smile he projects. A winning performance from a winning performer.
When in the 80s Johnny had a commerical to sell his greatest hits LP. My daughter was around 8 and had a crush on him. She used to say how cute he was. I agreed
Jane & Edo, completely agree. JR can just stand on stage, now and he'd be fantastic! Love ALL the oldies, but totally into the NEW stuff. Are we not puddles?!!!!!!
Johnny Rivers Should have been on the country charts He would have made it in both music gonres. Of music. RICK NELSON did it and ELVIS and JERRH LOUISE and JOE STAMPLEY AnD THE UNIQES. DAN SEALS , JONNY CASH, And JONNY TILLITSON WANDA JACKSON , SKEETER DAVISS. late great GLENN CAMBEL , FATS DOMINOE So many started out and become famouse in both music love of music from both lanes . All like JONNY RIVERS. Are naturally born talents. We treasure this music and these Great artist natural born talen We treasure these artist and this golden music. God bless Them all music sooths the soul and calms the beast .
Does anyone know the name of the tall blond who is dancing on the pedestal beyond Johnny? I'm 99% sure it is a long, lost, dear old friend. Not absolutely sure since closer views of her are not in focus. I'm not saying her name to see if somebody out there comes up with the same name of my friend. This video brings back such great memories of Watching Swingin' time and that old song which I forgot about is really good. And I can't agree more that the cute, black girl is a great dancer.
I use to watch Swingin Time too! My cousin Clem and his band the Lazy Eggs were on the show. The studio was so small, there was no room for the band's equipment, so many of the bands lip synched. Notice that there are no leads on the guitar or any amps . . .
Amo Johnny Rivers está música faz parte de minha vida ele é único já fui em 4 chows dele no Brasil e vou para Califórnia o ano que vem ver ele pessoalmente
Must find a CD with JR on the web. I'm to old for that IPOD stuff. Hearing JR makes you (and me) feel good! ...and you don't have to sing rock'n roll dressed in ragged jeans. It's the voice and the carisma that counts!
If you think the girl was movin in this one, take a look at B&W video for Secret Agent Man that is also posted here, then I think you will agree that this girl knows how to put professional dancers to shame.
Really ... Johnny R was and is such a talent that goes under the radar ... Saw him in concert awhile back and was completely amazed at his " in person " sound ... just great ... Question ... He performed a song that he explained at the time was the " original Hip Hop " song ... Cannot remember what the name of the song was but it was a cover he did ... does anyone know ?
I love the young lady on left bow in her hair dancing like nobody's business😍
He was and IS still great...Needs to be in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
For sure
I assumed he was in. He is great and should be inducted.
Johnny is tops has been since he opened the Whisky in 1964. I still see him live every chance I get he's the one of the underrated guitarists ever

The young dancer just to John's right (in the black & white outfit)
is sure putting the other dancers to SHAME!

What can one say? This is one fabulous song! Buck Owens would be proud.
Versatile as they come. Slips into a rock cover just as well as a country tune. Mark of a consummate musician.
