- This is part 1 of probably 2 or 3. It depends on how many times I get to go out and catch the 1225 on it’s runs. Join me as I attempt to chase the 10 am train from Owosso, MI to Ashley, MI, and later the departure of the 5 pm train. What an incredible experience the first day was, I’m so grateful to have been able to experience the 1225 under steam for the first time in years. And too have met some fellow railfans along the way!
Footage taken 11/18/23.
I hope you all enjoyed the video, if you did please like and subscribe and all that good stuff! As always have fun and stay safe out there! -Jack
Finally someone recorded it from the other end
That gloss black smokebox is so classy
The real life Polar Express herself has finally returned!
Welcome back, 1225!
Great catches and awesome video
Outstanding video! It was a pleasure to meet you!
Thank you! It was nice to meet you too!
So glad to see a new recent railfan recording of this train.. Many likes deserved! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Hope they realized they're missing the lid for the bearing on the fireman's side of the pilot.
Neither side has it. I’m not sure why, however probably for maintenance sake.
I personally miss it greatly, but it is likely due to the roller bearing conversion, one of many modcons added to 1225 during this work, including the inauthentic twin beam headlight (yes I loathe that too). The tender is now endcap roller bearing as well, and again lacks box covers as is standard on most conversions, especially with contractor mindset of modernisation.
1225 has been converted to roller bearing trucks in order to comply with requirements for interchanging. Friction bearings are no longer allowed in many places.
Unfortunately the modification resulted in the lids being removed to show the roller bearings inside the former stuffing box.
She looks as good as ever. Wierd seeing a similar headlight on it to 765, but i think it suits her fine. And its good to see here with a shiny new coat kinda like rbmn has on 2102
Yes! The dual beam headlight is a bit odd, but I personally like it! It looks great repainted as well!
I love how the PM 1225 looks a lot more like the NKP 765 now, with the new paint scheme and headlight.
@ShinGhidorah17 i wouldn't call it a new paint scheme as its no different than before its rebuild. Its just a fresh coat
@@tonierbuckle0202 Oh ok. Still like it.
@@tonierbuckle0202 The headlight is new, though. And I love how it’s like NKP 765.
YES YES SHE HAS RETURNED! I can't wait to see her with her sister 765!
The Polar express is back.
Слов нет, какой он красивый весь и гудит классно😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
She looks absolutely stunning. It's wonderful to see her back on the rails. Not only that but her running gear isn't creaking, clacking, and clicking anymore.
Though, I thought they were doing an oil conversion on her? Did they change their minds?
Long live the Polar Express!!!
She is beautiful
MY TRAIN!! MY BEAUTIFUL TRAIN!!! Oh my gosh hi, I’m a big Polar Express/Pere Marquette fanatic and boy oh boy I’m so glad she’s back! And man, she looks brand new! The new gloss finish added to her makes her look incredible! Looks brand spanking new even though it’s eighty two years old. I hope maybe I can see her next year. I’m from Wyoming so I’d probably have to fly from Star Valley to Owasso, Michigan. But hey I’d do it if I get to see this thing up close and in person instead of in videos or pictures.
Got a question/request for you. Next time you're on the fireman side of the 1225, can you catch a video of the Elesco Feedwater Heater pump running (if it is of course) It's the horizontal pump between the running board and the lubricator above the crosshead guides. I have no idea what the exhaust note is on that. It works in conjunction with the turbo pump mounted in front of the trailing truck on the same side.
I would greatly appreciate it, Thank you!
Lokomotif yg Luar biasa kawan..
Isn't the caboose supposed to be at the OTHER end of the train?
Signal activation problem at ua-cam.com/video/-ui8x4R_EWk/v-deo.html. Should probably report that to SRI Owosso so they get someone to check it out before it fails completely or the 1225 hits a car.
3:05 the kid in the background got shit scared 😂😂
Where was the second shot at?
The second shot outside of Owosso? Crossing M-57 just outside of Ashley.
@@SaginawValleyRailfanI was talking about 8:53 and 10:00
8:53 crossing King Rd, and 10:00 Crossing East Cleveland Rd (M-57) just outside of Ashley.
Thanx for the video. However, so disappointing that for all the money a ticket cost, you ride in a Closed Window Coach, never getting hardly a chance to See, Hear and Smell a steam loco working.
That is why I will go to watch and never bothering to ride these trains. Not sure why Open Window coaches are disappearing from many runs. Whether it's insurance reasons or otherwise, not so great a ride as they used to be.
its just safety
1225 is gorgeous but the train she pulls and the lighting she’s in is hideous.
Yeah. The consist definitely is a bit colorful. As for the lighting honestly it could’ve been worse, my only complaint about it looking back now was that there was no light on the smokebox at all. But overall it was a great time!
