The Return of Pere Marquette 1225 and the North Pole Express

- On November 25, 2023, I headed North to Owosso, Michigan to see the return of Pere Marquette #1225! 1225 has been out of service since the beginning of 2022 undergoing a nearly 2-year running gear rebuild. Getting to return to the Steam Railroading Institute was a spectacular experience and 1225 did not disappoint. I caught the train at several locations along the line and snagged a few shots of the diesel locomotive heading to train back to Owosso. When #1225 was pulled forward to load passengers in Ashley, MI, the stack talk was incredible, easily the best I've heard from the times I've seen 1225. I hope to make 1225 an annual event moving forward, either for Polar Express runs or fall colors runs. Enjoy!

Loved the video. That stack talk was ridiculous and I hope to have that happen next week when I am there. Very interesting that they weren’t ringing the bell at the first crossing. They did when I filmed there. Great chase

Awesome video of 1225! I see myself at 8:38 in Ashley 😅 I'm in the brown jacket on the right of the screen. That stack talk had my jaw to the floor.
While I prefer 1225 without the numberboards I am glad to see her back. And surprised she has a dual headlight. Not a fan of it on her in general but it'll probably change with time. Still, sure feel happy to see my favorite Berkshire running again.
