    Tip : Center point rectangle + key will give you a Square and one dimension to input. (adds an EQUAL constraint between adjacent sides "auto-magically" )

    I transitioned from SW to Onshape from day 1, several yearsago. Cody Armstrong was my goto guru, and I have never regretted the change. Have a look at Solarscope for one of my projects and QFH for another, although the latter has some issues based on the use of standard parts. I came from a professional background with Inventor and SW, but moved to Onshape for hobby projects. I'm a messy designer (I've never got out of the bad habits of those other products!😉), but this package is very forgiving, as my 14inch Dobsonian telescope projects will show; that's undergoing a major modification now. All my projects are designed for maximum use of 3D printing.

      Wow those are some cool projects and thanks for the heads up - It's good to know that I can be a little messy in onshape, but I wont get painted into a corner. Good stuff Thanks Mike!

    I put my sights on onshape for my 3D Modeling.
    Learning day by day, thank you very much.
    Love the fact that we can now model things and create right in our own Workshop with a 3-D printer with the help through Onshape.

      yeah its so awesome to be able to create and 3D print parts for the shop! I do that TOO!!

    I have 3D printed all the things I’ve created in OnShape. My most recent was a poop bin for my Bambu A1. It printed perfectly after doing a repair on the model. Turns out that I don’t quite have the hang of creating surfaces versus parts. I also learned that creating it with a total thickness of 0.8mm resulted in weak walls and warping. Still, the print was a success!

    When you RMB on the PS (Part Studio) tab to export, it will export all parts in the PS (because you can model many parts in the same PS) into one file. If you want to export only 1 part of your PS, RMB on the desired part (Part 1 here) in the Part list on the bottom left panel.

    Glad you are learning Onshape. I have never used Solidworks so I'm interested to hear your thoughts and see your shortcuts.

      Thanks! i'm excited to learn some more shortcuts too. I make a lot of shortcut videos on SW, so I'm hoping I can release some shortcut tips and tricks videos for what I learn in onshape too! Lot's of good stuff coming!!

    This is so awesome! Mechanical engineering really has its perks over plain vanilla pure math as a STEM pursuit LOL. Love the channel/playlist; please keep it up.

    This is a great video cus of the repetition ….thats how ya burn the process of something into yer mind. I’m venturing into cad from years of illustrator…and frustrated dabbling in sketchup and blender. I’m hoping you’d consider doing a tutorial that shows,a noob like me, how to grab a public onshape model bring it into my document and then change its dimensions, remove some existing holes, make new ones, add end caps, or make lid for a box by using the shell tool. I find using existing models and altering or combining them was great way of learning cus most of the time people just want to make something better or a little different rather than build from the ground up. Really liked your approach to teaching.

    *I love how you at least tell the shortcuts, I am trying to design some futuristic heels 👠 could you do a guide for something like that. I am currently following someone that does not say ANYTHING about what he is doing so I have to figure out OnShape without any help. I would appreciate that*

    I wish I had a wood rack and I wish that wood rack had a missing cap, so I could print it out and test this design! LOL

    Thanks for the video, much appreciated. I'm looking into whether or not it's feasible to use an iPad for light design work. I tried Shapr3d first. It looks great but limits your output files in the free version to medium resolution. Based on that I'm now trying OnShape and so far I'm liking it. A little quirky but overall pretty good.

      nice! Did you get onshape working on Ipad?

    • @jimdesposito2939
      @jimdesposito2939 7 місяців тому

      Yep, and (mostly) love it. Some quirky behavior that you have to get used to with the touch interface and for some bizarre reason they don’t lay out the options on top of the screen.

    Hi, my previous comments have been hidden because they were too much like spam I think. I wondered out loud why you didn't change the design slightly to get rid of the support, which I would have thought to be a primary consideration when designing for printing. If you can see the "spam" comments there's a link there to my stuff all designed in onshape.

    • @TooTallToby
      @TooTallToby Рік тому +2

      Ohhh - yeah you are correct. I usually do that (design the parts to help avoid support material) but I think I was just caught up the excitement of trying a new CAD system, so I just made the part exactly like I saw it. But I'm likin the way u are thinkin, so I might make a REV 2 😁

    • @JoelKreider
      @JoelKreider Рік тому +2

      Yeah man… I also stated out loud, ‘There’s nothin’ on there that needs supports’.
      Glad you got the satisfying Clink tho!! Interested to see some more modeling, as I’m trying to decide between softwares. Thanks for the time on this!

      @bitingmidge4981 Рік тому

      @@JoelKreider Onshape is really a great package - if I post a link it'll be marked as spam but if you go to printables and search user Peter everything there is designed in onshape.

    • @TooTallToby
      @TooTallToby Рік тому

      @@JoelKreider Cool I'll start making some more stuff- I think the best way to learn a new CAD software is to just start modeling stuff on your desk, in your workshop, etc... so that's what I'm gonna start doing next!

    • @TooTallToby
      @TooTallToby Рік тому

      Lol - I don't know about free - but for what it's worth I was using a FlashForge Adventure 3 Lite in this video - It's not free but it's very reasonably priced, and I've had great results with mine! Very low maintenance and very happy with the print quality!
