I have been looking forward to a "its Joel" video all week. Thanks :). Ps why don't you do a video on your girlfriends Pixo ? Take it on a road trip and do a whats wrong with it video.
Stick with it please! New wheels and tyres and then a trip ‘home’ to Bremen. It’s not a bad city for a weekend as I recall. “How far can my £1000 Merc take me?”See I’ve even give you the title.
Had a 2000 CLK 430 cabriolet in a beautiful dark blue with the gray interior you have and a matching gray soft top. It was so beautiful and so much fun to drive. Yours is in a beautiful red. Really glad you are putting on original grill and MB stem on hood. Actually the wheels on it look pretty good. The standard CLK 320 wheels, at least those sold in the US were small, uninteresting and made the car look inexpensive. It is really a beautiful car.
My favorite car on the channel now. I remember watching a 'documentary'/review of it back when it was new and telling myself I wanted one and no way this good looking car would ever age 😄
Pop the covers on those jacking points Joel. If they are not rusty spray some waxoyl in there asap. Edit, also lubricate the roof mechanism. There are micro switches in the windscreen frame that can stick causing the roof not to open/close. Make sure they have a bit of WD40 on them too. Trick for seatbelts, unbolt the bottom of the seatbelt, pull it fully outside of the car and use a pressure washer on it. Spray some upholstery cleaner on them before power washing. They will come up like new.
Other than putting the roof up or down - the rear headrests need to be raised as they act as your "roll hoop" and would protect people in the car if you flipped it over in an accident
I thought that all roadsters had the the blue badge upon the bonnet? Putting the standing emblem on would be doing the opposite to making it OEM! - Loving the Merc content!
I’ve been waiting to see this car again! So glad you’ve managed to get it looking better (just the bonnet ornament now 😂), and would certainly love to see more content with it! Mercedes Benz of this era hardly get any coverage so it’s really refreshing to see, thanks Joel 👍
I had a CLK 500 all white including the roof an interior leather. Apart from rear wheel bearing an a hydraulic leak on the roof mechanism it was a very comfortable car.
I have the 430 cab in the same colour but with the black interior, love it. Took the aftermarket black 18" alloys it came with off and replaced them with nicer period correct 17" amg ones in silver. Got a low miles 230 compressor with more period correct 17" amg alloys on it too for sale but I doubt you want a coupe version as well.. just for the wheels.
No need to apologise. Great video as usual. Please keep the car, it's clear from your voice how much you like it. Cars with a story, such as rescuing you when you were stranded on holiday, are so much more interesting than others bought in the generic way.
Restore it please Joel, its nice to see something different on a channel and not some big money supercar/build. Paintwork, wheels and some minor repairs and itll be great then roadtrip it somewhere when the weather picks up.
Loving seeing this car again. I'd love to see some original wheels on it and just some more tlc. Even if you do move it on, it will be so much better restored a bit more.
Someone I use to work with had one of these Mercedes’ convertible don’t remember hers having a Mercedes’ emblem pretty sure it had the same one yours currently has
Just something I’ve noticed many times Joel, electric Mercedes keys does not need to be hold in position 2, just simply turn once and release it, it will crank automatically. Grille looks much better.
Joel, have a look on the Mercedes forums and owners club, often people know about parts (wheels) up for grabs. I belong to the The Mercedes Benz Club, it does cost a bout 45 quid to join but best thing I ever did, for information it is far superior to the regular free Mercedes forums. Think you might pick a few more subscribers also as they all petrol heads.
JOEL!!! You had me screaming at my phone watching you try and install the badge!! Insert the badge into the bonnet and turn the square shaped thing on the bottom 90 degrees with the pliers!
Looks like you had the correct badge, but just didn't fit it correct as they are a twist fit. Anyway, did that era of CLK have the pointed star rather than the flat emblem on the bonnet?
Hey Joel, for the seatbelts just pull them all the way out, secure them on the outside of the car and power wash them! Ideally on a sunny day before you let them retract….
I owned a CLK 320 convertible (blue with same colour interior) for about 5 years. Brilliant, fast reliable car. It had the front grill fitted that you replaced (sorry much better in my opinion) and had original merc alloys.Slightly later model than yours, the roof was completely automatic, no handle to pull. I agree a great car!
as an w208 cab owner please when you un latch the roof push it up first before trying to operate it. Its possible the tension cables can get damaged if you dont push it up or pop a seal on one of the hydraulic rams.
Hey little suggestion to make it look even better: I think polishing the front lights might make it look like new in addition of the beautiful oem grille (and star if a new one has arrived) you have already installed. It’s an issue with Mercedes Models of that era. They tend to fog up easily
Well done for changing the grille when I was younger living in London there was a craze among those with questionable taste, habits and associates to fit those aftermarket grilles to their 190s. Along with spoilers and they looked grim
I hope you keep the car just changing the grill made it look so much better ...love to see these bargain buys looking better i really would love to see some kind of collaberation between you & Matt from Highpeak autos on this theme he likes this kind of thing as well i think a showdown on a budget buy would go down an absolute storm with your viewers the two best car channels & presenters on youtube by a country mile ..
Hi Heol. A while back you were carrying out a diagnostic check on one of the cars with an iPhone. Could you let em know the app and the hardware you need for that? Cheers, Jimmy.
Hey Joel, would you consider doing what Number 27 is doing with the Bismerc, but the other way around? Convert this beautiful boat (when the roof is down) to a historical tribute?
The rear headrests will activate very quickly if the car thinks it's having an accident. I know this because hitting the chassis with a hammer sets them off 🤣
Was it a used emblem? I had a similar problem when replacing my hood ornament on my e350 with a new one and I thought it was broken as well but eventually I was able to get it to lock in
Ngl for the £1000 this car costed, it's actuall a very cool car. Would suck to see it go. I actually really like it with the low hood logo and the no-logo grill. Quite sleek. Maybe some AMG monoblocks or C55 AMG wheels could be cool on this car
Hey Joel. On a n old episode of wheeler dealers brewer was doing up on old SLK. Just watched it now and he went to somewhere called Dronsfields specialist Merc breakers. Maybe worth trying there for the correct alloys? Good luck.
Hey Joel keep the merc , i have 5 x c class sport 16" alloys from a W202 c class sport . I believe these were also oe on the a208 that yours is think tyres ok too... alternatively I have some w210 facelift 16" elegance alloys that looked quite classy on my same red W210 e class , not from that car but would look good and mercedes wheels obvs. Just saying .
Why not do a mini project on this car where you bring it back to OEM spec, give the body and interior some love, do a mini video trip to France in the spring with the top down and than auction it to one of the viewers ready for summer ?
It is a nice car but how much should you really spend on a 1000 pound car. I would spend on it only if keeping it. Dont suppose that was a great help Joel 😀
The Mercedes’ stars aren’t expensive really. About 25 pounds from the dealer. And they should be able to fit it for you for free if they are a friendly dealership.
Are they built in Bremen them CLKs? Aren't Mercedes based in Stuttgart?

i despize the fact that mercs dont have manual v8s.
Awesome car. You HAVE to keep it and try to restore it. Not sure I'd go for smaller rims though.
The 90s amg deep dish wheels would look fantastic please restore it Joel don't give up onit keep it!!
My favorite car on the channel now. I remember watching a 'documentary'/review of it back when it was new and telling myself I wanted one and no way this good looking car would ever age 😄

Great to see an old CLK getting some love!
Other than putting the roof up or down - the rear headrests need to be raised as they act as your "roll hoop" and would protect people in the car if you flipped it over in an accident
They automatically pop up if the system senses a crash is imminent.
I thought that all roadsters had the the blue badge upon the bonnet? Putting the standing emblem on would be doing the opposite to making it OEM! - Loving the Merc content!
This was my actual car I changed the grill and the wheels which look better imo,
UA-cam loves a restoration project. Once done you could always sell or raffle it for someone to enjoy throughout the summer 🌞
I’ve been waiting to see this car again! So glad you’ve managed to get it looking better (just the bonnet ornament now 😂), and would certainly love to see more content with it! Mercedes Benz of this era hardly get any coverage so it’s really refreshing to see, thanks Joel 👍

Hopefully he keeps it
glad to see your merc back after a loooooong time!
I think this is my favourite of your cars because it's the most attainable for me.... Plus it's generally a pretty cool car hope you keep it
Restore it please Joel, its nice to see something different on a channel and not some big money supercar/build. Paintwork, wheels and some minor repairs and itll be great then roadtrip it somewhere when the weather picks up.
Great video;,would love to see this car sorted and returned to original spec. 👍👍
Loving seeing this car again. I'd love to see some original wheels on it and just some more tlc. Even if you do move it on, it will be so much better restored a bit more.

Have to disagree with you there sport grill should have stayed on it really made the car look better and more modern even if it’s not a sport model
Joel, have a look on the Mercedes forums and owners club, often people know about parts (wheels) up for grabs. Hey Joel, for the seatbelts just pull them all the way out, secure them on the outside of the car and power wash them! Ideally on a sunny day before you let them retract….
Probably mostly the exposed part that is dirty also
Seat belts can be pulled out to full extent and then cleaned with laundry soap and water. Gets great results and anyone can do it.

I hope you keep this car and do it up, really enjoying the content lately, however this is my dream car so I'm biased haha
If its your dream buy one. Its worth about £500 fucking quid if that, its a lump of shit so get fucked and keep dreaming wanker
@@alexm9718 what a charmer
@@alexm9718 £500 in mint condition? Clearly a dreamer with no back ground in the trade.
Bet your mothers so proud 👏.
@@brandonkelly5520 learn to spell you idiot, its no not know, 🤦🏻♀️
@@alexm9718 aw, cutie.
P.s you finish a sentence with a . Not a ,
There are two type of bonnet stars. Early ones which mount on the rad grills. Later ones which mount on the bonnet. A210 880 00 86 is what you need.
as an w208 cab owner please when you un latch the roof push it up first before trying to operate it. Its possible the tension cables can get damaged if you dont push it up or pop a seal on one of the hydraulic rams.
If you wanted to keep the costs down stuff like discs and pads are fairly easy to do at home on your own. Plenty of guides on UA-cam.
There's actually a nice original set of wheels (without tyres) on ebay at the moment.
Much better with that grill!
Needs the headlights polished/lacquered now and a set of Monoblocks 🙌
The CLK doesn't have an emblem that stands up. What you have in there is original and looks best.
Hey little suggestion to make it look even better: I think polishing the front lights might make it look like new in addition of the beautiful oem grille (and star if a new one has arrived) you have already installed. It’s an issue with Mercedes Models of that era. They tend to fog up easily
defo need to see more of this car on your channel. With some time and love it will be a fab car for the summer
Hopefully it will
Well done for changing the grille when I was younger living in London there was a craze among those with questionable taste, habits and associates to fit those aftermarket grilles to their 190s. Along with spoilers and they looked grim
I liked the badge grill that one is boring standard
Joel I will buy your rims off you how can I contact you?
I think the front lights need some polishing as well, simple and cheap, but makes a huge difference.
Great seeing you working on the car with your Dad, shame about the emblem but once you’ve got the correct one it will look a million times better 👌
Nice car that is, would love to see it done up perfectly, would look great
I prefer the other grille😉
hi where did you get the grill i need one
Do you know where I can get a red roof button for a 2002 clk 430 A208?
Keep it please!
Hi Heol. A while back you were carrying out a diagnostic check on one of the cars with an iPhone. Could you let em know the app and the hardware you need for that? Cheers, Jimmy.
Definitely keep it, at least to enjoy it in the summer! Nicely done that grill does look much better 👍🏻
Love this car
It's called the three pointed star.
Hey Joel, would you consider doing what Number 27 is doing with the Bismerc, but the other way around? Convert this beautiful boat (when the roof is down) to a historical tribute?
Is the car for sale or will be for sale?
The rear headrests will activate very quickly if the car thinks it's having an accident. I know this because hitting the chassis with a hammer sets them off 🤣
did the BMW GO THROUGH RAFLE
Because of your video I bought a clk 320 and I'm very happy with it makes Mutch fun
Was it a used emblem? I had a similar problem when replacing my hood ornament on my e350 with a new one and I thought it was broken as well but eventually I was able to get it to lock in

Hey Joel. On a n old episode of wheeler dealers brewer was doing up on old SLK. Just watched it now and he went to somewhere called Dronsfields specialist Merc breakers. Maybe worth trying there for the correct alloys? Good luck.
Hi Joel , when putting the roof down leave your finger on the switch and all four windows will raise ,,, love my Clk ,, have a few mercs
I have a set of period correct 17inch AMG 7.5 & 8.5 staggered off set alloys that i would be happy to do a swap/trade for the wheels you have.
Sure, let’s to it - want to email me on hello@itsjoel.co.uk
@@itsjoel I’ll email you in the morning with photos etc 👍🏻
Hey Joel keep the merc , i have 5 x c class sport 16" alloys from a W202 c class sport . Hi Joel, sell it to me,only problem is I live near the Pyrenees in France, can you do a road trip and deliver it ?😉
Great content, hopefully you will keep this car, would be interesting to see the journey of it being restored 👍
Great car. I would love to see more content with it.
Always happy to see another video from joel
I’m in the market for one of these, really hard to find any cheap ones that aren’t tatty! :(
Great video ! I would love to see more content on it … dare I say it is that filler on that arch with the scratches ?
Beautiful car. If the fuel in it is E10 I'd get it out of there ASAP.
Yes fix it up. It's a classic and needs sorting
YES!
Dude please do a deep detail video on this! It would be so satisfying and massively lift the car!
Love it mate
Liked tha aftermarket grill, original is to bland. It was one of the first things I replaced on mine.
Why not do a mini project on this car where you bring it back to OEM spec, give the body and interior some love, do a mini video trip to France in the spring with the top down and than auction it to one of the viewers ready for summer ?
Love the vids bro 👌🏼👍🏼 Keep the content coming
I like seeing your dad on the channel, it makes a more entertaining content tbh.
Keep it for this summer and do a roof down road trip
I still want one.. bought a boxster instead as too many junk CLKs about. Dump those alloys as they look crap and get some monoblocks
Yes yes yes yes
It looks stunning very good car for the money. Yep I like it think it’s a keeper 👍👍
It is a nice car but how much should you really spend on a 1000 pound car. I would spend on it only if keeping it. Dont suppose that was a great help Joel 😀
I’d love to have it I like it nice looking Mercedes
get rid of the range rover and keep the merc
My nail of a £3k E36 cabriolet > your lovely example of a £1k CLK320 cabriolet
😅
missed this car love to own one myself 1 day not to family friendly though
Keep it, do it up, will look stunning once all fixed etc. Probably a lovely cruiser / tourer for you and your girlfriend this summer!
forgot the merc joel got to say colour not great i would sell it concentract on porsche
The title should be “New part” 😂 Nice part nontheless , was very needed
It's a nice car but you have too many. Flip it once the weather turns sunny.
What ever happened to this car?
those cat paw prints straight across the bonnet though haha
The Mercedes’ stars aren’t expensive really. About 25 pounds from the dealer. And they should be able to fit it for you for free if they are a friendly dealership.
Joel just keep the car it’s a classic I personally wouldn’t both about the bodywork but spend the money on the tyres and brakes.
I am a simple guy I see Joel upload, I click and like
Very simple
That horrible beeping was a warning because you had Magic on the radio
Super excited for the new video - and I’m not even a Mercedes fan 😬
Love the channel! Warm regards from sunny South Africa 🇿🇦
