I think this is super bizarre. This guy has been in EVERYTHING. He kills every role he's given. He's been around a long time. Why is it most people don't know him by name?? Underated? Criminally so.
I'll always have a fun William Fichtner story. Around 2000 (shortly after The perfect storm) I raced go karts against him and his son at Great Escape in upstate NY and we were going back and forth the entire race until literally the final turn when suddenly my kart died! He came up to me after and said how much fun that was and asked what happened. Just a cool interaction to have with a movie star as a young teenager.
I also have a story in which I peed at The Great Escape after the log ride. I don't think William Fichtner was around that day, but I guess he could have been.
So many so called “stars” are just as down to earth and relatable as any one of us. I lived at n the same town as Tom Petty and hung out at the same coffee shop as him. On any given day you could find him talking with someone over local politics, sports, history or telling old stories about his time in the music industry or just about anything else. He was just a regular dude who was truly talented and gifted. He never let it go to his head.
@@joperhop You can just think there're many people thinking he needs to get more main roles and awards, bec that deserves for him. And these people also don't want to use "Underrated" word to him.
These guys did such an incredible job as Delta operators. I’ve had the privilege of meeting several over the years and I never really got over just how “ordinary” they can seem, until it’s time for them to be extraordinary. Fichtner has carved a strange niche out for himself by just always being on that varsity list of supporting actors, one of the first to get the call when a director needs some super solid ability to help his lead actor move the story along. Loved him in TDK.
One of my personal favorite performances is in, "The Perfect Storm" especially at the end when he was standing in rising water in a capsized boat and knew he was minutes from dying. The anguish, regret and remorse on his face is palpable.
Indeed, every movie he's in is always fantastic, he's always fantastic, but always plays 3rd, 4th string, always very short screen time. I always wondered if that was intentional or a bad agent / manager.
Fichtner is one of the best actors in Hollywood. Crushes everything he does. I love the serious roles like Black Hawk Down but I also love him as Phil in Entourage.
William is an excellent actor. I especially like how he plays roles where he is ambiguous as a good guy who ain't that good or a bad guy who ain't just bad. He does complicated characters really well
@@rhmayer1Crossing Lines is the first thing I saw William in. He played the character of Hickman really well - a complex, vulnerable man. Don’t know why I’d not seen him in other things! I must be blind! 🤣
He was also great in the cult classic, Drive Angry, playing one of those complex "bad guy who ain't just bad" roles, but in a very entertaining, fun character. A very Fichtner role.
William is one of those actors that I see and know I will like the project. Heat, Black Hawk Down, Contact, Armageddon, Elysium, Crash, Pearl Harbor and others all fun movies to watch.
Couldn't agree more, but Pearl Harbour? That movie was so bad. I don't hate all Michael Bay films, Pain and Gain was excellent, but he should never have made a movie like that.
William Fichtner has been one of my favorite actors for decades. He can be serious. He can be funny. He can be serious and funny at the same time. Loved him in Black Hawk Down. He rocked that M14 like a pro.
That was really sweet how he only mentions affleck but makes sure to focus on the lesser known actress to give her her due and a bit more focus. Classy guy.
Not surprised Bill, Kim and Eric are still friends as the actors who played Delta operators on 'Black Hawk Down' had pretty intense training that served as a bonding experience.
These little glimpses in these actors lives are interesting. It's cool that Coates and Fichtner have that kind of friendship. William seems to be a likable, down to earth guy.
Kim Coates in Goon was awesome. He didn't have a big part in that movie but every scene with him was perfect and I felt he had the best part in the film. William Fichtner and Kim Coates are highly underrated acters.
William Fichtner and Kim Coates are both very good actors. William Fichtner I especially wish got more good guy roles beyond the cop and soldier parts he gets to play
Fichtner reminds me of Odenkirk in that he's always knocking it out of the ball park but still somehow underrated. Coates was nails in SOA. Every big scene he was in, you were sitting there waiting for that ticking time bomb to go off. Matter of fact let's see a Fichtner, Odenkirk, and Coates bank heist movie soon👏
Kim Coates I remember him from Saskatoon.. funny how a person just remembers somebody from there childhood. He was older than us but always a nice guy. Use to see him up 8th street arcades hanging out
Cold Brook came out a couple years back, Fichtner also directing, And it was one of the biggest surprises I’ve seen in a long time. Their onscreen chemistry, and the original, heartwarming, and endearingly meandering story the film, was so nice to see. The perfect “Coming of Middle-Age” movie.
Always felt he was in a class of actors like John C. McGinley, or Jason Issacs where they give more effort than the lead and always steal the show but you don't see them as much as the flavor of the decade actors since they get the leads.
Kim Coates for me will forever be the character punched in the nose straight to his cerebellum by Bruce Willis' Joe Hallenbeck in 'The Lest Boy Scout' _"I seemed to have dropped my cigarette. May I have another...?"_ Mr Fichtner mentioned age difference with Coates, he and I do share something in common which is same birthday with a 20 year age gap.
From SOA and now this, everyone says Kim is a great guy and there is always a bond with guys and he's always in that group. With Soa it was Kim, Theo, and Tommy and now Black Hawk Down, Kim again and William and those guys. The soa group was super close, used to ride every day with each other travel the globe together and that group is still super tight. Really talented actor and seems genuinely down to earth. Love seeing the banter between him and Kim Coates, remember Kim crashing an interview during the Hollywood celebrity racing practice, it was just 2 lads taking the piss and gaving fun (sorry for the language im British)
Totally amazing actor. I loved his role as the suit in that Nick Cage bit where he's driving the car and shooting demons. Can't even remember the title, but wish they'd have made a stand alone film from that character.

I always like his roles. Perfect storm was perfect role for him.
