  • This video shows how to combine the Volume Select Modifier with the Morpher Modifier in 3ds max. The Volume Select Modifier gives us the possibility to connect a selection with other modifiers. You can use another object like a magnet while using the Volume Select Modifier with the Morpher Modifier. This method is developed by Ali Torabi.
    This video is based upon the workshop "Parametric Design" with Ali Torabi at School of Design Mainz, Germany, November 2011.
    Author: Alexia Pogiatzi, Masterstudent "Kommunikation im Raum", School of Design Mainz, Germany

    Did anyone have an issue of the whole thing not working as soon as you animate it? I am talking about it working fine, exactly as in the video, but as soon as the sphere is on a path constraint or simply auto keyed to move from point A to B, it stops working altogether. Any ideas?

      Hi Kromer, did you ever find a solution to this? I've ran into the same problem.

      we don´t do it loke this anymore but use para3D. With this plugin it´s very easy as surface cladding...

  • @ihrstic
    @ihrstic 9 років тому +1

    Great tutorial. I've always wondered how to do something like this in 3Ds Max
    Can you please tell me how to animate this? Because when I move my sphere, it looks good and it morphs the plane like it should, but when i animate a sphere just to move from one side to the other across the plane and then scrub through animation it doesn't work...
    Thanks

    • @DesignStrategies3D
      @DesignStrategies3D  9 років тому +2

      We´re not using volume select and morper modifier anymore but do everything with the plugin para3D. That is much nicer and faster... Search for Magnet controller in para3D and surface controller... You can animate everything.
