That's right! I should make a second part so you can see how much her situation changed for now, as summer came and she grew up there are far less situations when she's locked up all alone :)
I live in rural eastern NC. I adopted an American Akita that was around 10 months to a year old. She gave me 12 hood years. I love this breed (not for people who aren't used to large breeds or no dog experience) I love this breed and I'm always gonna have Akitas! My 2nd one Nika is going on 3. Don't let the fluffy cuteness fool you! These dogs can be very ferocious and they were breed for bear and elk hunting in the Japanese mountains
I guess everyone is different because my akita was not put away it was apart of our every movement and layed in protection of my wife from a pup until full grown and we never had a problem with boundaries
I kept my akita in the crate he came in for two nights in order to potty train him. But he was always with me through it all, although his whining at night almost made me abandon the attempt and just let him out. But I didn't, making sure he learned that he learned to go in the backyard and not in the home. After the second night, I let him out and he would sleep on my bed after that, and he never had an accident in the house until he was 14 years old and the end was approaching.
lol..... its called training a dog like it should be.. we are the owners... they are the dogs.. dogs share lots of traits with wolves, one happening to be alpha leader.
I agree people are indeed different because for someone to reference the dog with a wolf because they seek to be the alpha in the home sounds like someone who doesn't need a alpha dog. This 100% breed Akita (WITH THE PAPERS) completely understands who is alpha in my home and he was never hit, punch or anything else for him to understand his role.....I guess the people who own wild tigers, lions etc must take their pets back to the zoo at night.
Gettin ready for the dirty washcloth chin! Your doing a good job making sure the dog does not get in trouble while your gone. Providing enough opportunities for excitement when your there. Akitas need their rest. We have our second Akita now and we definitely didn't know what we were doing the first time.
Thanks! In my case there's a 3-4 hour window on weekdays when absolutely no one is at home. I think it's better if she gets used to this while a puppy.
If I were lucky enough to have an American Akita, it would be rarely ever left alone. And it would be in my house with me at night. These dogs are meant to be close to their people at all times, they are protection dogs.
even tho they where bread to protect, most dogs dont attack. even if the owner is being attack themselfs most dogs would cower in fear or simply just bark. even german Shepards wont protect you even thought they are breed for protection they must be TRAINED. and its not a good idea to let your dog sleep in the same bed as you or be with you all the time. it could cause them to develop seperations anxiety and cause them to freak out, break things, etc. even thought they might be bread for protection, that doesnt mean they will protect u. with goes with any breed really.
I have a Japanese one, she goes everywhere I go lol. Work loves her, the client I work for loves her. She never leaves my side. I don't think I will never not have an akita. The breed ultimately became my favorite and now I got 2, a boy to complete the duo xD
They are truly like your shadow, going everywhere after you and they're interested in everything that happens around them lol. I unfortunately can't bring her to where I work but as spring came I'm able to spend much more time with her! Wish you good luck with your duo!
I had an Akita. My son was allergic so unfourtanly we had to rehome. But despite all his issues I can say he was one of the most loyal dogs I ever owned/my parents ever owned growing up...with the rotweiler being up there as well that my parents own.
i just lost my 14 year old akita today and it feels like I'm getting kicked in the chest every couple of minutes. watching this video reminds me of how he used to be as a puppy.. and god do I wish I could go back to those days.
I notice your Akita shaking the head "No!" when you told it to sit for its breakfast. I had an Akita from his puppy-time to his demise, and he never grew out of that habit. He was more than a bit proud... an Akita norm. He obeyed, but never really liked it, and I was careful not to ask for it other than at feeding, or if something was important/dangerous. He seemed to understand about danger, and complied quickly understanding that I sensed a danger he did not, but he chaffed a bit at sitting for a feeding or for a treat. He lived 13 years and six months. I miss him greatly.
My dog was attacked by an Akita today and then this pops up on UA-cam! Reassuring to remember that it’s not the breed, it’s the owners. You take good care of her!
I have grown up with Akita’s right when I was born, we just got a puppy cause our old one died sadly, i don’t see a lot of people with Akita’s so this is amazing
Thank you, she truly is a fluffy little angel. I'm planning to enter dog shows with her in the future and ultimately become an Akita breeder so if you're interested in seeing more fluffness make sure to stay tuned 😆
I'm getting an American Akita mixed with Akita Inu. Could you please tell me things i should do before taking it out on a walk and give me some extra tips ! I just subbed to your channel.
First of all don't worry :) It takes time to learn things and form a bond with the puppy. For the walk I would recommend to go to a place where nothing can scare the puppy, for example I made the mistake to go out with my pup at night and she got so scared we had to run home lol. Take early socialization seriously both with humans and other dogs, I'd recommend visiting a puppy school from time to time to meet other pups. Be careful with deworming and other medical deadlines. Even a single day after the deadline can cause trouble. I wish you good luck with the pup!
@@RELLGazen For deworming you can certainly use medicine, they will surely give you at the vet. I don't know about new viruses but make sure the pup gets all vaccinations on time
Thanks for sharing the video. The only thing that you have to consider is how to leave the puppy or any dog. You can clearly see in the video that she is not ready mentally and emotionally for that. the best is to learn from ''Cesar Milan'' how to prepare dogs before leaving them at home. Enjoy your time with your lovely Akita. Take care.
I love watching this video God bless you and your dog and I hope you both live a happy long life together!! I miss my Akita so much ! Identical to yours ! Merry xmass !
Would you still own/manage this dog if you didn’t have anyone to help out during the day? I too like most work 7-4 and my wife overlaps a bit. I want an Akita so bad!! Your puppy is gorgeous
That's a good question, well if you're dead set on getting an Akita like I was then I'd say it's possible. The hard part would be the first weeks with the puppy. I wouldn't recommend leaving a 8 to 12 weeks old puppy completely alone for like 8 hours. In this period they should eat 3 times a day for example, have fresh water from time to time etc. When the dog gets bigger you can get him used to a program, like if you get home at 4 every day for weeks then the dog will get used to it after some time. I'd recommend to find someone who can check in on the puppy in the first weeks when you're not around.

Love how she obediently goes into her “bedroom” and sleeps after you say goodnight.

Her whimpering tugged at my heart. She just wants to be with her humans. 🐾🦴

I get an Akita in 3 weeks and I'm looking forward to this very much
Best dog breed, make sure you treat the dog with respect, it pays you back with so much love if you do.
@eduar ed he no longer has any Akita puppies available sorry. Next time I get notified of a litter I’ll post a video on UA-cam with their info
