I remember when I first saw this movie
I feel the same way. This music always feels like the big tree holding me like mother's warm hug and brings back the very importance of what I've forgotten from the childhood. We are so very lucky to be able to listen and watch Joe Hisaishi and Hayao Miyazaki's master works as our childhood.
小学生だった夏の頃、トトロを見て近くの森の大木の根元にもトトロの住処に続く大穴が無いか探しに行ったなぁ。

Je viens de re regarder mon voisin totoro. Je n'ai pas les mots. Miyazaki et Joe Hisaishi ont le pouvoir de transcender les mots, ils font la paire. Ce film en apparence très enfantin regorge de messages si profonds, si matures, si beaux. Ce film reste un mystère pour moi. La musique de Hisaishi est un équilibre, est-elle heureuse, est-elle triste ? Elle est tout à la fois, elle ne s'explique pas, elle se vit. Cette musique est une expérience intangible que l'on ne peut réellement décrire avec des mots je pense... il y a des fois où les mots ne suffisent plus, alors la musique remplace les mots et l'on peut vivre cette expérience tous ensemble en tant qu'humains égaux. Merci Joe Hisaishi

Artists, listen up, this guy is the perfect example of why you have to find one thing and get really good at it. You can't be a jack of all trades, and master of none your whole life. It's better for you and everyone else if you become exceptional at one thing. Be so good that people can't ignore you.

Who wants to be laying on their death bed thinking "I sure I'm glad I was just okay at everything and never made an impact on anyone"? We like Joe because his music is incredible, and he didn't get that way because he split his focus 100 ways. I get that artists want to experiment and play, and don't want art to become work, but you don't get to this level without dedicating yourself to it.
I agree. Like Bruce Lee's saying, "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." It's great to be multi-skilled, which is amazing, but don't forget to master at least one thing you really love. Choose one and be exceptional at it.
