Didn't know about the jaw width difference. Thanks for pointing that out. Now i can't decide whether that fact or the build quality is more important to me..
Good job. I recently bought the 250mm (or 10") new style version of these pliers. I was curious as to how these compared to the older model. Thank you for doing the comparison.
Thanks! I bought 180 and wasn't impressed by the quality at all. Had decided to send it back to the seller and told him that it was a knock-off. He was assuring me that it was an original one. Now I see that I was wrong and it is just a meagre quality of those pliers that gives the impression of a knock off.
Glad mine are ‘older,’ and that I’d bought ‘the set.’ If I need a larger opening, I’ll grab the next size up, instead of dealing with the bulk of the ‘newer’ version..
Can’t say that different is worse. These casual observations are simply opinions and not based on objective analysis with the exception of maximum jaw width. I think both versions are useful and practical tools.

Any updates on the quality of the metal?

Interesting stuff, but you need to calm down a bit when doing this sort of thing. 👍😉
