    I’m going to try the Klein. I own Hazet 760-2 water pump pliers that have a similar quick adjust button. I really like how much easier it is to adjust the setting compared to others. I had hoped for this feature in a pliers wrench. At first I rejected the Klein pliers because of the slop, compared to Knipex plier wrenches. I’ll put them in my tool bag and see how I like them. If they are decent, I might put them in all of my vehicle tool bags to save space. One tool with dual uses. By the way, my favorite water pump pliers are the Knipex Cobra self adjusting pliers. I only wish they made it in a smaller size. Thanks 4TheWin for taking your valuable time and treasure to make your videos!

      @@georged1085 I like them. The only criticism was the single size and now I just found Hazet has come out with 3 new water pump pliers with the same adjustment button. These are now on my radar for deals.

      @@geoffap0 have you used them with the jaw reversed?
      All reviews I've seen that tested this seemed to suggest it was a gimmick and had nowhere near the grip of real waterpump / T&G pliers like the Knipex Cobra / Channellock etc

    Thanks so much for the review. I've been remodeling for 5.5 decades but never new about Knipex until today looking at new tool bags and seeing multiple tradesmen pulling them out. Wow! Gotta have a set like them. The flex in the handle doesn't seem to bother me too much but the side to side play might be a concern. Hate cheep channel locks. Would like to hear more about the Kleins from users. Could I toss my channel locks altogether? Don't want to add more weight to my bag.

    i like the features and usability of this klein tool. but in the uk here it costs more than the knipex. or i can buy the knipex + the plastic covers for same price. (and i already have the cobras). £50 gbp in uk lands is around $60

      1 inch = 2.54 cm = 25.4 mm. So 10 inches = 254 mm. I think they are 250 mm and 10 inches is just an approximation. Cheers. :)

    1 year can make a difference in the pricing differences. As of Oct. 31, 2024, the Klein is $10 more than the Icon. I do like the concept of a 2 in 1 Plier tool.

    Home Depot lost its exclusivity contract with Home Depot, they are also sold at Lowes now. Lowes clearanced a bunch of stuff to make room for the Klein stuff.

    • @teseract
      @teseract Рік тому

      Yup Lowes is supposed to have a much larger Klein presence soon vs the tiny single bay Home Depot typically gave them in a dark back corner.

      Lowes also no longer carries knippex because of their Klein contract. Which sucks. There's nowhere locally to buy knippex.

  • @Fekillix
    @Fekillix Рік тому +1

    There is a large price premium when buying Knipex in the US, much cheaper in Germany.
    It's worth paying a little extra to support the innovator rather than buying the Icon. That's how you get more innovation.
    It would be interesting to also compare the Gedore and Stahlwille German made pliers wrenches. They've been around for a while so they probably licenced the Knipex design.

      @@Bit2brain "Ripped off" it's a tongue and groove smooth jaw plier. I know knippex fanbois want to buy in on the "pliers wrench" nonsense, but they are essentially just channel-locks with a spring and button. And yes, not letting knippies rest on their laurels to collect on their paypigs for the next decade and have to come up with real ideas is indeed the driver of innovation.

    YOU MANIPULATED THE RESULTS - SHAME ON YOU
    KNIPEX SHILL
    1) when you're showing the parallel jaws, you ignore the light we can see and even say "There's a little but not nearly as much in the other two" when in fact we can see there's MORE in the place where you put your finger over it.
    2) When you're checking the flexibility while gripping, you put the nut at the very end of the Klein, you put it 1/2 way in the Icon and you put the nut all the way up to the hinge of the Knipex. This WILL ABSOLUTELY AFFECT THE PLAY WHEN SQUEEZING IT. When you move something to the outside of the jaws, you're introducing a level effect that will provide the most flex in the handle while squeezing. Conversely when you move it right up to the hinge, you take all that away.

      To be honest, I was thinking the same thing @jontnoneya3404. Kinda feels like he's selling Knipex tools for a living haha. I really do appreciate the review but it doesn't seem like the Klein is getting fair treatment. Just because he said what he said doesn't mean he's overreacting or a troll guys. He's right on both occasions. There's more light on the Knipex when the jaws are closed then both of them and the Knipex did have less flex because he put the nut all the way in the back off the jaws. It's just comes off odd because he's pushing for Knipex more
