    Great video!!!!!!!!!!! Its been hard for me to find a direct answer on this, do L134s need soft water to increase breeding odds? I assume yes but just wondering. Also I cant get my longfin super red males to breed and ive been using water spikes as caves, is it possible that the caves are too small for them? Thank you:)

    • @AquaMalik
      @AquaMalik  4 роки тому +1

      L134 seem to spawn in a wide range of water parameters quite successfully so I would say it depends on how hard your water is! as for your super reds the watering spikes arent too small for them they spawn in clay watering spikes! just give them time and increase water changes! weekly 50% water changes should do the trick!

    Thanks for the great video Malik. How does Jan breed his plecos? If i was understanding your video he breeds them in his discus tank? How does he get the fry out before they are preyed upon?

    • @AquaMalik
      @AquaMalik  4 роки тому +1

      he doesn't do anything to breed them Steven. they breed naturally and he has to trap what he can with home made traps! its such an easy method of breeding. the fry seem to naturally survive and grow up in the main tank!

    Hi Malik ,love your channel just wondering if you ever kept orange seam precocious , I have some just wondering get them to breed

    • @AquaMalik
      @AquaMalik  3 роки тому +2

      I do not keep that type but the breeding is usally pretty straight forward - as long as u have a group of adults (males and females) in an adequately sized tank with caves and structures and the diet is high quality and the fish are healthy and all water parameters are ideal they will breed on their own

    I bought L398 10 fries and L246 10 fries can you please give some advise on keeping them healthy thank you. Do they need pristine clear water like discus or altum angels? How often should i change the water and how much % thank you very much

    • @AquaMalik
      @AquaMalik  3 роки тому +1

      watch my vidoes on fry raising and feeding and yes water quality needs to be pristine! and also no cycle crashes ! nitrite spike of 0.5ppm can kill all your fish so well established mature tanks and target feed the fish!

    Hi Malik, I read somewhere that with L046 Zebra you lower the water temp to around 24 degrees and also drop the ph to around 6. I did this for around 3 weeks now. How long can you keep the water like this? The day after I did this one of my adult pairs began entering the cave together, but I haven't seen them do this since... may I email you my notes?

    • @AquaMalik
      @AquaMalik  4 роки тому +2

      send me an email with your notes! I personally don't keep it that low (25C is lowest Im comfortable bringing them to) for no more than a few hours, the sign of the pair entering the cave is a good indicator that it definitely got them in the mood! maybe try it with shorter intervals like a few hours right after a water change ! definitely send me your notes please! cheers!

    Hi Malik. thank you so much for your sound advice regarding my intentions to keep L333. I think that it is possible that your fish may be spawning out of desperation prier to a water change fearing their own demise. After a water change they could simply think that it is rain season, flooding and their habitat growing ten fold as the water floods the jungle providing their fry with endless food and new habitats. I know little about plecos but think and hope that my thoughts are logical. Mm the fish don`t read our books LOL. Great videos mate. Keep up the good work. How can anyone get bored. Best wishes John

    • @AquaMalik
      @AquaMalik  4 роки тому +1

      Hi john, it’s true they might be spawning due to many reasons. Water changes seem to help but it’s the low pressure systems that really seem to trigger it I think .. and yes they don’t read our books 🤦‍♂️🤣 cheers mate 🍻

    • @AquaMalik

      about 30cm x 90cm (12"x36") footprint should be plenty of space! even a bit smaller like 80cm is fine too !

    hi i have a question i have two pairs of L007 peleco. They both are ready to breed but they are not breeding. i have put two pair in different breeding tank. can i put them in same tank which two pair together. Also my breeding tanks are located under alfresco . morning to sun go down all day in day light but under cover. is that causing a breeding problem? or they need to have dark room?. 4 months ago i bought two pairs and they should breed by now but no. can you please give me advice on that . many thanks

    • @AquaMalik
      @AquaMalik  4 роки тому

      the sunlight shouldn't affect the fish breeding! there are a lot of other factors when it comes to getting them to breed! patience is key!

    • @AquaMalik

      temp is about 28C 82/83F ph is between 7.4 and 6.4ph (drops between water changes - every 2 to 3 weeks 40-50% wc) nitrates below 20ppm usally below 10ppm with resin Total hardness is 180ppm to 200ppm

    Can I close the back cave with a 30PPI sponge?

    • @AquaMalik
      @AquaMalik  4 роки тому +2

      it might work actually .. as long as cave is safe for the male and he can defend it easily that’s the main thing .. I’ve stuck the open end in the sand sort of in an angel and that seems to work so I think a small piece of sponge might work .. keep me posted on how it goes . cheers 🍻
