Wow I nearly had a heart attack when you put the cave down on the floor ha ha. Glad this little beauty is doing so well in the hobby. Thanks to ppl like you 👍
Best temp in your experience with L134, how many females vs males? How many caves vs plecos? And finally, is thin fluval stratum needed tomake the harder more soft? Mine is pretty hard. And finally my good man, size of caves? Totalmix or some favourites? Sorrry one more, is air stone/sponge filters needed for air? Or is it just cheaper when you have many tanks.Thank you for all you advise. Kind rehards Zack AKA Crazy Aquarium Guy
@@TMAquatics Very good. Oh that's great. In Poland, aquarium hobby is very popular, although it does not have access to as many species of fish as in the USA.
Good to see you making another video again Tom I miss your uploads but I also understand your reasons for concentrating on the things you mentioned. Good to see what you got going on since last time to. Great video as usual
Great to see the 134s doing well for you now. I've a tank set up for a group of them this 6 months but its impossible to get them in northern Ireland at the moment! Keep up the good work- really enjoy watching your videos.
First off love the collection, excellent set up. 2nd What kind of angel fish was that white angel fish in your latest video? 3rd I do hope i will have the honor of being allowed to purchase a few of your L134s, they are magnificent specimens. Thank you, hope all is well with you and yours
I recently acquired a group of L134"s. 7 of them to be exact. They're to young to tell males from females. I might cull the males after once they get breeding age if there's problems. Is a 38 gallon doable for these fish? Tank footprint is 3ft long 1 ft wide. Almost the same as a 55 gallon just a foot shorter.
Hi Tom, thanks for the video. Why do you think that you did not have any 134’s breeds last year vs success this year so far. Anything different you are doing this year? Water parameters, ph, food differences , etc?
The previous male always ate the eggs. He was also poor at fertilizing. I pulled him and introduced a few new males. The ladies finally chose one and he is doing a great job.
I like him to have a few days between spawns, but if the ladies come a knocking, what are ya gonna do? He actually trapped the next day, but no spawn. He has a lady friend visiting again tonight 🤞
Hi tom good to see you again, I have a question I see that you only use sponge filters, I did this too but there is a lot of dirt flying through my tank probably due to the wave makers should I put more sponge filter?
I also have an AquaClear HOB with a prefilter on every pleco tank. This is for three reasons. 1) Redundancy. If my air pump craps out, I still have filtration. 2) Water movement. Plecos love flow and current. 3) The extra water circulation helps keep the substrate cleaner. Detritus gets kicked into the water column and into the filters it goes. A dirty bottom is unhealthy for plecos and Corydoras. It can cause a bacterial outbreak which will negatively effect your bottom dwellers.
I keep them in the breeder box until they are around 1”. That doesn’t take long for L134 plecos. They actually grow quite a bit in the first couple of months. From the Fry box I have been moving them into 40 gallon breeders. I prefer to move them into a 10 or 20 gallon though. I just don’t have any smaller systems available. Easier for them to find food in smaller tanks.
Hey Tom, I’m curious on what you think about substrate in pleco breeding tanks? I run a small breeding for profit fishroom, and I have pebbles in the bottom of all my tanks, but I see you have sand, or bare bottom. Does the sand have any benefits for the plecos? And what do you think about bare bottom tanks? I’m thinking about switching to bare bottom because it’s hard to keep the stone clean with all the pleco mess.
This would’ve been a good video if we could either see the fry or you waited and got some better footage when they came out of cave. Patience and telling/showing a story makes the best videos.
They are not difficult. Dial in the water parameters, then keep it consistent. Quality food only. Weekly water changes. Provide plenty of caves and hiding places for them to feel safe. My parameters are pH 7.0-7.2, temp 81F and TDS 150.
TM Aquatics is the best fish room on youtube!
I don’t know about that, but I appreciate the comment. 😉👍

L134s are looking fantastic tom, thanks for the update. I hope to breed them myself. Congrats!
Thanks. The 134 is my favorite fish. Good luck with your breeding project.

Thanks. The Angel is a Philippine blue platinum Pearlscale. 👍
All good. Very nice.
Any advice identifying the males from the females? I now have three l134s the previous owner couldn't get to bred. I'm concerned they are all the same
It is a must to know what your priorities are and stick to them. That leopard male is freaking awesome!
He’s a stud. Makes it easier on me when he does his job so well. No need to pull eggs early and tumble.
Those a nice plecos 👍🏽
brilliant, your fish always look in tip top condition 👏
Very nice.
Glad to see you’re back Tom!! You able to share the pH you spawn your l134 at? Understood if that’s a secret! Haha. Take care!
7.0 - 7.2

TDS 150

Great video! How many adult l134 are in that 55?
Thanks. I think I have 11 in that tank.
good to see ya, how are the zebras doing
Well, they’re still alive. Not breeding, but still alive…😶
@@TMAquatics h0w old do the zebras have to be before old enought to breed
I let the eggs in the tank with my one species only aquariums the first lays go wrong most of the time but after that it goes fine and make a colonie
hi where are you situated and what the price for plecos
Hi there, I’m loving your 134’s.. where can I purchase some from you? Pls let me know :)

Where so you buy your Ziss model? Amazon?
What do the l134 eat
Doesn't the male need to rest and eat for a while before he takes on a new batch of eggs?

Any of these for sale right now
How long does it take to pleco bread them
These fish will take 2-3 years before they’ll start breeding. It’s a long time, but I’m patient.
G'day from Australia, glad to see you back. Just a question, how long do you leave the fry in the breeder box for before they go in the grow out tank?
