This is a song about the student mobilization in the late part of the war, working in the munitions and food production industries; The song according to Wikipedia was written for this purpose.
I like this song, it reeks of desperation at the point of the war; the point of no return "no alternatives but to march into battle", the tune is of a tragic and desperate melody.
