Fun Fact: Star Saber's Mechanical Artist is Kunio Okawara . The same dude who designed the OG Gundam and the brave series, which gave Star Saber the Super Robot/Gundam-esque style/vibe
OOHH THATS WHY I LIKE STAR SABER SO MUCH! Im a huge Gundam nerd, but I had no idea the same man designed mecha for both of my favorite franchises.
Now wonder the whole thing feels like j-decker
I think the initial design was done by a different guy, I forget who drew it but there's an earlier drawing that's way more Diaclone influenced, but then they brought Okawara aboard and while the silhouette remained largely the same, he details were pretty much done entirely from the ground up.
fun fact:g1 star saber design was the inspiration for energon wing dagger/wing saber,especially his upgraded form
Additional fun fact: the guy who designed Star Saber was the same guy who designed the RX78-2 MOBILE SUIT

Another interesting fact is that the designer of Energon Wing Saber, Hirofumi Ichikawa, not only used Star Saber as inspiration, but also g1 Predaking.

Fun fact! Victory Lio's "jet mode" was actually something created for the anime and was not something originally advertised on the toy.
thats not true on the back of the box you can see him combined with star saber in their jet modes
@@beepbeeplettuce5890 well because THAT IS. Victory Leo rarely used his jet mode. That jet mode mostly served as extra booster for Star Saber.

i love how a japanese characters like star saber is getting a lot of love,espcially how unique the character design are,we've masterpiece star saber ,we got a haslab star saber,we got a idw star saber (even tho it ruined the character so much), he and lio convoy are the only japanese characters to get attention, ireally hope for more japanese characters to get love like ginrai and beast wars II galvatron and beast wars II skywarp,or beast wars neo big convoy and magmatron

What about the Trainbots? They are getting a Masterpiece combiner, quite a lot of attention if you ask me.
There is an update of BW II Skywarp. It was in an Amazon exclusive two pack with an earth mode Sideswipe. Unfortunately being just a retool or Airrazor, it doesn’t combine.

When they announced haslab saber i was like: “nah, I don’t even know who this is, why would I care”. But now, after all those videos i saw about him, i kinda regret not backing him. Maybe i will get mp in the future. And also, great video

I recently purchased IDW star saber from planetX. Its fantastic!!. Congratulations on this find. The G1 toy looks good.
Will or do you have a video showing how to repair / clean the joints? Making them sound smoother and tighter. I would love to see that since I want to get one of these in the future to go with all my other victory star sabers I have. I know Toy Hax has stickers to fix that problem. But cleaning and fixing the joints would be nice to see a step by step video.

I realized as the video was processing that I missed the combined jet mode cause it's not a mode I do like ever. But it's impressively large
I do find it a shame Victory Saber is only Saber with boots, a wing pack and a gun. I kinda wished he atleast had arm extensions to fit the boots or atleast the arms of Victory Leo formed soldier cannons so they weren't just kibble.
I loved the design of Star Saber and as soon as the Haslab version was advertised, I was in. Paid for it as soon as I could. I need my Star Saber.

Just like on yours, the left robot leg on my Victory Leo gets rather stuck when attempting to extend. I think it’s an issue on most or all copies because both of mine have also had it.
Both my Leo’s were also the same in that the wings did not yellow, despite the back, arms and legs doing so. I think the wings are made from a slightly different material.
That is nice...like "FINAL ATTACKRIDE...D-D-D-DAAAMN THAT'S SEXXAY!!" I wasn't able to back the HasLab Victory Saber - part of it was that there was other stuff I was tryna get, part of it was that I had almost completely forgot about it.
Anyway, I have MP24 Starsaber - the first and oldest MP in my possession. Won it in a contest on a Facebook group back in 2015. Nothing I've gotten since has been able to take the title of my favorite MP from it. Still need to get the Keith's Fantasy Club "Simba" (Victory Leo), along with the elbow & knee upgrade kit and the articulated hands, though. Seven years with this McBeast, and there's only one thing that I don't like: the locking mechanism is a pain in the nuts!! It's fine when you combine Saber's jet mode with the V-Star, no real problem there. But going into the combined Starsaber mode?? Annoying as all hell.
So what's the deal with the legends last knight Megatron? Did they make one? I am not aware of one (though I'm barely aware of anything outside of what I own)
Wish they did a MP victory Leo, but the third party one I got works well enough with MP star saber

Anyone notice how Saber’s transformation was eerily similar to that of the combiner wars jets? I.E Ghost starscream, Limb aerobots, OG Blast off. Ect?
Well. Similar Engineering I would say. I mean. They are all jets.
If you ever do a restoration, you should do a guide on how to do it. I got an old Tribomber that could use some cleaning up, I just don't know how.

I had the "RobotMaster" version of these two years ago. Slightly smaller than a deluxe figure. No ratchets. I thought the "Visible Head Syndrome" on the smaller figure was an oversimplification of the full-size figure... evidently not...

I have personally never understood the fascination behind this duo. Especially there conmbined form as like you said it's just shoes & a back pack when there are other combiners that do so much more & look so much better. Long as you enjoy it though that's all that matters 😁😁😁
Maybe because they are so different compared to other combiners from G1, for example, look at Optimus as Power Master, it takes Optimus and makes him look fat, thou putting God Bomber on really helps improve the look a bit, with Victory Saber, you got a robot, within a robot, who then becomes a chest and head of another robot, then you just addon a lion who also a robot and has a space ship alt mode (sort of, kind of) and increases his height, yet what makes Star Saber really stand out, is the fact he is using a sword instead of a gun, sure Fortress Maximus uses a sword but its how he debuts in the anime taking out two cons with his sword power, as Victory Saber, you are looking at a big robot, wearing shoes, having wings sticking out and a pair of guns on top, while the other combiners, are mainly build a big robot and have not much else going on in combined form! Of course, you can just look at Star Saber and think he is Optimus prime as a Space ship instead of a truck!
They just look cool, and the combined mode being a little minimalist is part of the charm, dont take everything so seriously

I never got to back it and now the only way I can get victory saber is scalpers on eBay selling for $350-400
Scalping is buying up all the stock to artificially inflate the price, this is just aftermarket demand, you can't scalp the has lab star saber

Really sad that you had to back a haslab fundraiser to get a non-MP Star Saber and along with the added cost of having Victory Leo. It makes it impossible to get him out here, without even accounting how much it would probably cost to middleman it at all.
I would have totally bought a $50-$65 figure of just Star Saber.

I only had like 200$ to my name my sr year at my military college when it was the last chance to back legacy Victory Saber, and I didn’t back it because I didn’t want to be broke for the month. I deeply regret not backing it, and I will pay scalpers for it MSIB if I must
There are no scalpers for this, scalpers are people who buy up all the stock to artificially inflate the price, you can't do that with this figure so the prices are just aftermarket demand
