Nice and easy with the nail gun. That's how I like it. And I really appreciate you keeping this video short.

Hi Jaime!
Thank you for posting this video, these are beautiful! Will be making them for my moms birthday party... How much was the total cost for the wood for all 48 lanterns?
Thank you. I don't have the total cost but the largest size (14"h) costs about $20 using 1" dowels. Cheaper using 3/4". Please share if you make them for the party, I'd love to see the finished project.
$20 per lantern? 😬
😍😍😍😍👏👏👏👏
These look great, I’m working on building some for my wedding. During assembly i used more glue causing it to bleed out in the seams which is proving to be problematic when staining, any advice on how to stain without it looking splotchy because of the glue?
You could always sand the glue away to a manageable amount
No glass in them? How do you make one with glass, that you can slide photo in and replace them too?
Would it burn if I don't put the candle inside a glass holder? Because I would like to hang it in the garden and I'm afraid the wind would sway it and the glass would fall or how would you suggest to prevent it from happening. Thank you in advance for your response.
I don't recommend hanging in the garden with a real candle. I would use a battery operated candle and no glass. Also to help the candle stay in position when hanging you would want to route out an inset circle the size of your candle and perhaps add some ticky tack under the candle. Also I would only hang them outside when needed unless you seal the wood it will rot.
Thank you, that is a brilliant idea! I'm going to try that.
How many dowels would you say you used total? I'm trying to get an idea of how many I would need 30? Thank you!!
Depends on the size. For the medium lantern - 3 dowels per lantern.
What are the measurements? I would to make this for my upcoming event.
Just updated with free plans for 4 sizes here: jaimecostiglio.com/2019/02/wood-lantern-centerpieces-free-plans.html
Can these lanterns be made with a 1/2 inch wood dowel
Hi Becky, yes you could use 1/2" dowels however I would switch to a 23 gauge nailer and use 1" finish nails.
Did you use paint or polish in that
The lanterns are stained - Minwax Early American
Jaime Costiglio thank you
What size glass hurricanes did you use for small lanterns and what size pillar candles
Hi Hannah, the hurricanes and candles are linked in my post here: jaimecostiglio.com/wood-lantern-centerpieces-free-plans/
@@JaimeCostiglio I can not find the size of the small for the hurricanes and candles
Hi Jamie how did you calculate that you need 3 36 inch dowels? The calculation would be 4 36 inch dowels?
What sizes are the smaller ones?
You are correct, you need 4 dowels for the largest size (my math was off). The sizes vary from 14″ tall to 10″ tall and 6″w x 8″w. The bases are 8″ up to 9 1/2″ square. I also used both 3/4″ and 1″ square dowels. I mixed and matched all the sizes for variety.
We just made a 9x6 out of cardboard just to see the size. One on a table should be plenty, you think?
@@marciareilly1607 Depends on your table size.
Where do you get your wood dowels?
Home Depot
What nail gun are you using is it a brad nail
Yes I'm using an 18 gauge brad nailer.
R u selling them ? If so where
I will sell them if you are nearby to Westchester County, NY for local pick up only. Otherwise I shared the plans to DIY.
@@JaimeCostiglio are you still selling them? I am located in westchester
What’s the wood measurement?
The plans are available here: jaimecostiglio.com/wood-lantern-centerpieces-free-plans/
These are twenty dollars each?
Depending on the type of lumber etc. And they are reusable for home decor.
Yes, for the medium size including the glass and candle. It really depends on your sources and quantity.
