It’s so good to see these old videos. This is the golden era of motocross for me. Reliving my childhood over here. How precise were those side burns of McGrath? Pretty sure he measured those bad boys with verniers and spirit level.
Well put. It was the golden era for me as well. The signature helmets and the gear were the best IMHO. I’ve always been team Green but McGrath was my idol growing up
It's easy to forget how good McGrath was in his day, especially after RC came around. He never quite dominated outdoor like he did Supercross, but he is still one of the best ever regardless.
@@charlesdjones1he smoked everything in 1996 which is the one and only year he committed to outdoors he could have got 3-4 more titles outdoors if he wanted to he just didn't like Nationals
Only injuries (and bad choices in 97) stopped MC from winning (at least) 4 straight 250 Outdoors Championship (95-96-97-98). The 90s MC was that good and should have been even greater with more MX wins and championships.
So bad riding leading to a crash an then fall after fall lead McGrath to lose the championship. Emig earned it, rode smarter and better without injuring himself. Won it fair and square no excuses. McGrath would brag and be arrogant his entire career and make hundreds of excuses when he lost. Emig never said anything about why he himself had lost or anything bad about McGrath. He was a champ, McGrath was a brat
McGrath would blame the bike and everything else if he didn't win, emig just wants to win and doesn't care about The glory Or being a show Boy, yeah emig is a more deserving champion than McGrath, also what is McGrath sniffing As He seems to have a sniffle in every single interview,
I think that Gatorback was just about the junkiest track on the circuit. Almost complete hardpack, dusty, and a bunch of square edged bumps. MC was killing everyone that year until he got hurt. Jeff "You Know" Emig was an idiot as a rider
McGrath was a cry baby. Emig was grittier and the better outdoor rider. Emig also beat him in SX. But, RC and JS would’ve lapped both of these guys in their prime.

I was at this race. I was 14. No one had any idea how legendary this race would be.
Amazing times! I can just feel my spine compressing just watching this lol.

very true. he had the points lead in 98 with a broken wrist
MC is underrated outdoors
Awesome video!

1996 was the best year ever.

Yea i chuckled at that comment haha
I was at that Gatorback race.
Look at those sideburns lol all the down to the lobe! Now days it's usually mid ear. Lol so funny
How fast were these RC250s compared to standard 250s?
McGrath is the GOAT 🐐

Typical Jeremy crying haha
I saw no crying, i did however hear FACTS. A 50 point lead is insurmountable and the injury ruined his season and GAVE Emig the title. Not one tear.
