It should eventually be possible to make basically 90% of the game. Romhacks, mods, custom made projects have a lot more room these days due to both roms being able to be made much larger than they were in the 90s (ridiculously so) and flashcarts can play them I think
@@MDTravisYT interesting. SNES hacks seem to be able to go much higher, beyond 6MB I think. Sonic 3 and Knuckles is 4MB, Japan simply didn't produce cartridges that large, only North America did for some reason.
It's a bit too big for that, but most things can be ported. Special stages however are nearly impossible to port, but Markey Jester created a proof of concept.
It could work but most likely only the base game (Zones, Bosses and the Time Travel Mechanic), because of storage limits, a lot of things would need to scrapped like the FMV Opening and Ending, the time attack, and special stages. Several things will need to be replaced, like replacing the CD-quality music and PCM-based tracks with Genesis (YM2612 + SN) Arrangements, though you could replace the special stages with maybe the half-pipe, blue spheres, or S1 special stages (rotating maze). By then it would probably be small enough to fit on a genesis cartridge, either as a standard 4MB cartridge or a rom with the same mapper as Super Street Fighter 2 or similar.
MSU-MD support could be implemented, but the whole point of the hack is to use the MD by itself so it kinda defeats the point- *Question for MDTravis ONLY* Well nvm, I guess I'll take my comments elsewhere.
Labyrinth Zone music basically sums up how toxic Sonic CD haters feel about Sonic CD.
Sonic CD has haters?

Sonic CD likely started development as a port of Sonic 1 to CD.

1:16 It is crazy that you make Sonic time travel on the Mega Drive
The Sonic 2 team wanted to do that, but ended up not having time.

That looks incredible
This looks like the start to one of those Sonic creepypasta videos lol. Fr though, this looks amazing! Good luck 🫡
A lot of people say that kind of stuff with my projects. It may look the same as a setup of one of those, but what I'm doing here is the real deal.

As long as you don't make it over 4MB. Compromises will have to be made.

Now I Wonder If It's Possible To Port The Final Game To The Mega Drive...
It's a bit too big for that, but most things can be ported. Special stages however are nearly impossible to port, but Markey Jester created a proof of concept.

Is it possible to port to whole game when if you downgrade some content to fit in?
Is it possible for CD-quality music to play on this port? Question for MDTravis ONLY.
It is, but it'd take up a lot of ROM space. YM2612+SN versions of the songs would need to be made.
@MDTravisYT So you are saying chiptune music is allowed to play because CD-quality music is going to cause storage problems to the port?
MSU-MD support could be implemented, but the whole point of the hack is to use the MD by itself so it kinda defeats the point-

Well nvm, I guess I'll take my comments elsewhere.
You could maybe try to implement something like MegaPCM2 for 32000hz playback on the DAC but performance and storage may become a problem.
@Powershot300 MegaPCM2 will be ported, but just for better DAC range.
