Camped on a little peninsula at Laurel Lakes. Put food in my truck shell about 30 yards from our tent and set my truck alarm. Middle of the night my alarm goes off because a bear was shaking my truck. Then I could hear the bear walking all around the tent to the shale rocks. My buddy had a 30-06 rifle but he wasnt worried. It was the longest night of my life, I couldnt sleep because I was so scared. I have heard sometimes they have Golden trout in those lakes. Drive in is pretty scary especially that last turn.
I know that lake is way out there and remote so lot of wild life been there twice no luck with fishing . It does have golden trout and big ones too. It’s always good to have protection when you go places like that but one main thing to be mindful about is not have anything in the tent that smells like food , just sleeping bags and clean cloths . I always have my 10mm handgun with me and a bear spray . It will be really hard to use rifle for protection
Thank you for watching yes , you just need to pick your lines carefully , the beginning of the trail has some boulders that you can avoid the rest is easy.
Right on. Been there many times over many decades… The lake is very cyclical. Fish are stocked via aerial drops. Early in the season is your best chance. Right bait, wrong color. Pearl white or white. 2lb or 3lb line. Cast out, mend line, just let it sink without twitching or jerking. They want to eat it in the drop. I’ve said enough.
@@Overlandjourneys I love the outdoor and will be doing some overnight camping so I'm watching a lot of videos for ideas. I appreciate the content you're putting out.
Nothing hits better than that morning coffee in a weather like that..! Great views and nice recovery!👌🏼😍
🙏
Looks nice I always wanted to go there👍👍👍
You should

😍
great video. slow that retrieve down and pop it!
🙏 I’ll try it this year , gatta go back when snow melts
Think a 2wd Colorado with 4in lift and 35s could make it?
I think if you pick your lines right and go slow yes but the trail changes every year after snow storms .
It used to be a nice quiet place to go before big mouths advertised it. Now it's full of city slickers.. Thanks
I know right lol 😂
You said youll jump in if you dont catch anything...
😂 I did , a day later in my pool .
this lake only has golden trout. They are very picky eaters. don't feel too bad
I know it was very disappointing
