@@gh0xttherebel Haha, pretty much the entire fandom does. It's the one romantic pairing that doesn't cause fights to break out. They're just so perfect for each other and the little cuddle on the airship on their way to Mistral was so perfect with Boop playing on piano in the background.
Congrats on finishing Volume 4! So, the major thing about Ren in the final fight with the Nuckelavee, which is based on the creature of the same name from Orcadian/Norse mythology, is that he was letting his emotions overtake him, causing him to put himself in harm's way. As to parallel when they were kids, Nora was able to calm him down and get his mindset back on track, cause if he didn't, they might have lost Ren forever, becoming the next victim of that beast. As it turned out, his calm and calculated mind was just what they needed to deal the killing blow.

This is such a fun series! I haven't gone back and watched volumes 4 and 5 in a LONG time, even though I've still gone back to watch 6-8 a few times and even 1-3. So it's nice to go back and see these middle ones again with someone who's having such BIG fun reactions to it!

What a way to end Volume 4!! Bro, your editing in this video was absolutely amazing (like always lol), the fight with you and Jacques was hilarious! The Nuckelavee (the Grimm horseman thingy) is definitely one of my favorite Grimm in the series, so horrifying and yet so badass. That scene with Tyrian is one of the reasons why I love him so much, his VA goes so hard!! I wanna give a shoutout to Yang's new outfit, looks so good! I love how in the shot at 13:38, the creators had the audacity to put in the Wilhelm scream. You can hear it if you listen really closely.
okok to clear up the ending of chapter 10, the cave that Ren and Nora found was basically the "trophy room" of the Nuckelavee. The bloody hoof print let's us know it's his cave, the Shion flag that flew into Ren's face confirms that the Nuckelavee was indeed a part of the destruction of Shion as the dying huntsman alluded to (AND on top of that we see the hoof print in that same episode in Shion), and the arrow that Ren picked up was actually his father's, Li's. That's why we have that close up shot of Li firing the arrow at the Nuckelavee so we can see its distinct design, which Ren picks up in the future (thinking about it now, I wish Ren had more of a reaction to the arrow like squeezing it to his chest and making a face because I'm sure he knew it was his dad's, cause that would've given him a nice moment, and also a way to confirm that this was the trophy room of the Nuckelavee). But to think that the Nuckelavee had a trophy room... like I know grimm don't have souls but DANG THIS IS A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL 😭
that Grimm was DIFFERENT! 🙃🙃 having a trophy room is a sign to NOT mess with that one lmao!
But I did notice that the arrow that Ren picked up was the same as their father’s.
They were definitely still getting used to the software and had time constraints like any other show, but I agree that some parts of this season miss that extra emotion or the 'show, don't tell' aspect.
It could've been a writing or directing issue, but I see it often with Ren. He emotes rarely, sure, but there are plenty of way to emote through body language like you suggested.
Nice editing on the intro lol. Good to see you're still going strong with another volume squared off! Keep it up, love watching 'em.

So if you didn't know at this point the actor for Qrow was played by the same actor that played Edward Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist, and Oscar is played by the actor who played his brother Alphonse Elric, so it was a bit of a reunion at the end credit scene

Missed the premiere, but at least I'm getting to watch it now and not have to wait until later.
That was an amazing intro for the episode.
Nice pickup on what Ren's semblance is. A lot of people don't pick it up until later when it's explained more. Love how you are able to remember details from the previous seasons. Seems a lot of people either didn't pick up on Nora saying they were orphans and had no home to go back to or they've forgotten by now. They have pretty much always had each other's backs. And Ren did give Nora her first hammer.
The Nuckelavee is pretty terrifying. RWBY's version I definitely find a bit more frightening than the pictures of the "real" thing from folklore, but it's pretty freaky too. CRWBY did a great job with it.
Your reactions to Mr. Wannabe Schnee are always great. He's so well written, animated, and voiced in the way that I think pretty much everyone hates him. And you've yet to see the depths yet.
I'd definitely love to see you react to Chibi, but if you want to just dive straight into the next season, that's cool too. Chibi is non-cannon and for laughs, so you can always watch it later. Though some of the jokes tend to deal with things that just happened, so you might have to think for some of them if you watch it later.
(I can't wait for you to react to the season, so I'm perfectly fine if you skip Chibi, but I would love to see you react to Chibi as well, so I'm at a loss as to what to suggest. lol)

Chapters 10 and 12 always make me tear up, and I’m someone who never used to tear up at all. The first time I watched I can’t say I fully appreciated this volume as much because what I really wanted to see was all our girls back together again, I can’t imagine how I would have been if I had been doing this week by week and going through the hiatuses.
See?!… That’s why y’all are so much stronger than me 😭 I couldn’t handle it!
But I feel you about something making you tear up when usually stuff that would tear anyone else up, doesn’t tear you up.

@@gh0xttherebel I was with this group that went to see Love, Simon in the cinemas and everyone ended up crying except for me. Hormone therapy has helped but it’s still rare to get any sort of observable reaction out of me so I celebrate any piece of media that manages to make me cry.
Watching Volume 3 weekly was the worst at the time (I had found rwby like 2 weeks before volume 3 started) and the back half was like watching a train wreck in slow motion and emotionally draining (but still really good!). Then when Volume 4 came everyone was super emotional and high strung in the fandom and starting to feel a similar tension as it continued and there was a lot of complaining about wanting and expecting certain things out of the show that the writers were not going for and were unrealistic (such as "just put team RWBY back together NOW, ugh this so boring and the animation is jank! RT will never animate as good as Monty! They secretly killed Monty and stole his show!" and other ludicrous things as well), especially since the show blew up in fame and recognition between Volumes 3 and 4 so expectations shot through the roof. They still get flack for a lot of warranted shit but during Volume 4-5 it was terrible/the worst combo of emotions and expectations.

I think that this was probably your best video yet! Absolutely awesome! I loved the intro, I gave a “HELL yeah!” At the Jacques v Ghost smirk, all of it was incredible!
The cave that Ren and Nora went into was the Nuckalave’s lair, the assortment of weapons were what it pulled out of it’s body and discarded, remains of it’s fights against the people.
REN had a visceral reaction in the lair as he held the arrow…because it was his father’s arrow, one of the ones that Lee Ren shot into the beast as he told little Ren to run. Remember how the scene gave so much “face-time” to the arrowhead? ;)
When Qrow grabbed Juane’s hand and their eyes met, they held an entire conversation in “Man-speak”.
Qrow: Destroy that damn thing, but keep my niece safe. I’m depending on your to fulfill my obligation.”
Juane: “With my life, sir. We’ve got this.”
This was literally Juane’s chance to atone for not doing his job back in the vault.
I can’t really say that I blame little Ren for trying to run away in that scene. He looked like he was about 4 years old at the time, and the bully boys looked about 7-8, and the only thing he’d accomplish is getting his little butt kicked. However, sometimes it’s worth getting whupped if the final outcome warrants it. As my back-woods dad used to tell me and brothers “Walk away from a fight if you can, but NEVER run. That’ll hurt worse than a beating.”

I think I remember you finding out that Nora alludes to Thor, but there's a nice little easter egg in this episode that I just noticed on your rewatch, even though I have watched this so many times ahaha. At 42:00 when Nora is going up, she holds her hammer up when she does and that's what Thor does in like the movies in stuff when he's flying. I don't know why I just noticed this now lol

Watching this made me realize; when Nora starts going off on a tangent about the worst-case scenario in volume 3 chapter 1, as she grows more panicked and emotional, her colors grow dull before turning entirely monochrome over the course of the rant. It comes across as just a visual gag at first, but I guess Ren must have been using his Semblance to calm her down.
I love how grimly serious RWBY is about death, its not glorious or exciting or badass, its terrifying and painful and sad, even when its heroic.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this theory about the first four RWBY seasons before or not, but the 'Seasons' theory is a pretty neat way to look at the changing tone of the show. Season 1 was Spring, new beginnings/life. Season 2 was Summer, carefree (epic food fights galore!). The girls even went on a 'camping trip' where they talked about their feelings around a campfire. Season 3 was Fall - devastation and loss. Season 4 was Winter, where people pick up the pieces from Fall and truly learn to keep moving forward.
I will neither confirm nor deny if that pattern holds true for the upcoming seasons, but regardless, I thought it was a nice way to reflect on the first four! As always, such wonderful editing and passion!

I've said it before, but I love both your energy and how attentive you are to the show at the same time. I've watched a lot of RWBY reactors, I always rewatch the show with a new reactor before every season at a MINIMUM and you are BY FAR the most fun one to watch but you're also one of the most attentive ones to boot. You have to pay attention in this show, and you don't miss much. Hell, you've pointed things out that Ive missed having seen RWBY probably... 20+ times.
If I may make a suggestion for you in your RWBY adventure, at some point, you should check out the Charcoal and Team SLVR trailers by Mark Zhang. They're a well done homage to Monty's original trailers. And if you like the creepy unsettling Grimm like the Nuckaleave you saw here, you may enjoy Raxacory's Team DARK trailers and subsequent video, DARK Chapter, Hunting the Nightmare. He has another video called "The Culling", but I would avoid that one until after Chapter 6 at a minimum as it has some spoilery stuff. The earlier vids for both show that they were relatively new at animation, but they get really good and given your openmindedness with Volume 1's budget, I think you'll still enjoy them.

Glad I've now caught up! Just a note; with the girls in Vol 5, the stuff happening in each story are NOT happening at the same time. For example, Blake's part of the story is happening two weeks AFTER Ruby's part of the story. A few people got confused when the episodes were first airing.

If you do, you might have noticed the visual detail of when Ren's Semblance is at work. Also, the edit of fighting Weiss' dad is PERFECT! I'm loving these reactions! Volume 5 gets a lot of hate, but I hope you don't let that deter you!

This is such a great finale for volume 4!In case you were confused during the fight when Nora stopped Ren, he was blinded by rage. He wasn’t thinking and was being careless with his fighting. Nora stopped him so that he could breathe and regain control of himself so that he wouldn’t get hurt.
