  • AGAINST LOW KICKS
Filmed at a recent class by Vladimir Vasiliev at Systema HQ Toronto.
There are a number of options for working against low kicks:
    strikes
use of body movements and body weight,
counter kicks, trips or joint breaks.
Notice that your legs and hips should be relaxed to preserve balance; and each defensive movement is done to lead into the next one for full control.
Study this and many other combative elements of Systema at Vladimir’s regular classes and during the Visitors Training Week.

Hard to see what's happening and traditional low kick users mostly check/ block or inside kick so this work looks unusual.
Using your arms is not common as a kick to the head is always a worry for Muay Thai and other traditional low kickers.
Systema is not a sport per se so it's a different mind set.
You have to be 'in the movement' and relaxed for this to be effective. High level for sure.

@@joanstone6740 Guess you didn't read my reply. You reiterated everything I said.....
Vladimir NEVER blocks anything so 'small stick against big stick' is irrelevant. He checks/intercepts/redirects the kick using numerous movements but never blocks any strike/attack. Like I said, it's hard to 'see' what's happening to an untrained eye with sport mentality. Groin, eyes, throat, using teeth, weapons are not allowed in sport. Being in a ring/cage and forced to go at each other with a time limit, rules, and protection are all things not trained here. He can simply walk away. It's not a sport.
Making ad hominem comments also takes away from any semblance of a mature discussion.
Drop into a class and see for yourself.
I came from a JKD/MuayThai/BJJ/Judo background with five years training and numerous competitions under my belt and he mopped the floor with me while laughing at me getting up again and again.
He also never injured me unlike every teacher before him. No ego so nothing to prove.
      Peace.

@@joanstone6740 Since you clearly don't read or English isn't your first language I'll say have a good day and enjoy your injuries.
Muay Thai career: 2-3 years average, lol. MMA about the same. Take care now.

The internal mechanics of systema are amazing but i think it needs to be coupled with the external “delivery mechanism” of something like boxing/muay thai/wrestling for it to really shine and work practically.

Эта техника для выживания в реальных боях на улице, в окопе она не для спорта. Она выглядит не как в кино, она решает реальные задачи и не претендует на королеву красоты. Эта техника выводит противника из строя. Проверена реальных условиях не одним поколением русского воина.

I used to train there back in 2007, one of the students was a MT instructor, the guy used to travel2 o 3 times to thailand to train. Vlad did all what you saw in the video to him and even more, unbelievable.

MuayThai - cannon fast strikes - very difficult to defend (these guys don’t know how to hit - let him show him on a Thai boxer)) ...)

When I trained with vlad back in 2006 there was a guy who trained and lived in thailand, and he could not kick vlad succesfully.

Это все, что вы вынесли из видео?🤦‍♀️ акцент "выдает" всех: итальянцев, шотландцев, австралийцев, французов... it's only natural to have a specific accent. No English speaking person WITHOUT an accent. Even a native speaker will speak with some local accent. Did you know that??
