After all, she's been painting the whole narrative since the very start, claims to be one of the last people to speak to Jay... and has changed parts of her story several times.
The search took place in that area based on what she said in interviews but it may well be that Jay was never even in that area at all. Who knows?

According mostly to someone else's research, just 3.4 km away from the party zone is a mountainous remote location much nearer then Masca, with 100 illegal shanties and small criminal community with a track that drives up there. Directly next door to Jay's hotel, is an entire derelict plot of land used a fly tip and the council do nothing. It is a potentially good spot for an abduction. The council also have associations with the illegal shanty town and as the mayor of one of the provinces of Tenerife is a dodgy ex mayor and general mofo. So, there is a connection. Significant or not.
