  • Roger Federer: The Story Of The Maestro | Ultimate Tribute
After two months of work I give to you the emotional tribute to the legendary career of Roger Federer. I tried to cover every major storyline of his career but don't be mad if this one shot or this one particular quote of him didn't make the movie. It is just so much material that you simply can't cover all of what happened during those 20+ years on tour.
The second challenge was to find new aspects to his story which I have not shown yet. I did four big tributes in which all the stories of the Big Three were already told. There was nothing new for me to show you about the matches against Nadal and Djokovic. So the most fun part for me was to show his early rivalries with Hewitt, Safin and Roddick, as I did not cover these before.
To make it easier for you guys to enjoy the movie I cut it into ten different chapters in case you don't want to watch the movie in one setting:
    Kapitelmarker:
    00:01 Intro
04:18 Chapter I "Rise to the Top"
    10:24 Chapter II "Unstoppable"
    15:00 Chapter III "A Rival"
28:38 Chapter IV "Changing of the Guard"
34:23 Chapter V "All Questions Answered"
37:52 Chapter VI "Suddenly Number 3"
    45:15 Chapter VII "Slamless"
    53:35 Chapter VIII "Resurrection"
    01:00:20 Chapter IX "The Defeat"
    01:11:24 Chapter X "The End"

Greatness is not defined strictly by the numbers. Yes, they tell a story and for many that is all that matters. Yet, greatness is often defined by something more. One's impact, determination and will & ability to overcome the odds are among many characteristics that define the greatness of an athlete. What Roger has done on a tennis court goes beyond the numbers. He changed the game, making it beautiful. He was ruthless and commanding, yet so incredibly graceful that he made the toughest shots look easy. He made some of the best players in the world look pedestrian. He pushed his contemporaries to new heights. He made you laugh. He made you cry. He gave you joy and heartbreak. He made commentators giddy and go wild when he'd do something only he could. He was THE defining player of his era and perhaps the metric by which all great tennis players will be measured. Rafa is the most dominating player on a single surface and Novak is the ultimate winner but Roger Federer is the one who is spoken of with the most reverence. For all the great players who have ever existed and all the great player who are to come, the title of "greatest" boils down to only a few. However, for all he has done on the court and the impact he's had on the game as a whole, I submit to you...Roger Federer.

In 2004 they were already talking about Roger as the best player of the modern era. And maybe one of the competitors for the GOAT debate.
So, at that time he had already shown something so special that one could see that was totally from another level.
My point is... Numbers are nothing but just statics. This man has made everything possible.

Being the GOAT is more than about the numbers - it's about the complete package. Roger was consistently voted fan favourite and favourite of his peers. He didn't go around smashing racquets against net posts and as far as I can recall he was never defaulted for his behaviour. He wasn't rude to umpires - he might have protested or had vigoroua discussions but he didn't behave in ways that would give you cause to blush or be glad your kids weren't around to witness the behaviour. He always behaved in a way that would make his family proud. If not for injury, who knows the numbers he might have accumulated. He played for the love of the game, not the accolades earned by playing it and we all loved him for it. So miss him and so glad that we now have Carlos who promises to be a worthy target of our joy and appreciation. Thanks to JCF for showing him how a true champion behaves and thanks to Roger for showing him the correct path, not the path of arrogance and entitlement. I am now off to bed to watch the rest of this video in peace and appreciation.

There's something so intoxicating and addictive about Roger Federer. He's a magnificent, inspiring and lovable tennis player because of his gorgeous looks, humble and kind heart, determination and tenacity, hard work and discipline, great passion for tennis and wonderful performance in playing this sport.
He's a great legend, magician and artist rolled into one.
He has ended his tennis endeavor but his journey continues as he carries on helping the poor and unfortunate children through his foundation.

Even I "hated" Roger for a lot of times in so many matches I always said:
HE IS THE MOST TALENTED PLAYER I HAVE EVER SEEN.
He didn't even had to fight in matched because he's in another level.
He's already being missed and we were lucky to live while he played.

Thank you for that, awesome work and very touching that this comes from a superfan of another giant of tennis.
What too few realize, and even some players don't/can't/ never will and who can blame them is that they all make eachother better players, they all make eachother surpass themselves and go beyond what their talent and work rate alone might never have taken them had they not competed against each other; these three, maybe even 4 all-time greats found new levels of tennis in ..dare I say the longevity and so much more...of possibly that one player alone, who, without them, might never have lasted that long himself or been that good as he too had to up his own level/ reinvent himself and even his own tennis style with a bigger racket in order to stay close, that close to them and to the Top for so damn long and still with some unbelievable wins over them over the years.
Just remembering the last greats like Borg -retired at 26- or Sampras -retired at 28- to name but a few a then try and explain how on Earth a near 40 yold almost beat the actual best in the World at Wimbledon in 2019 or let's turn that around : it took Djokovic five hours and five sets of his most unbelievable tennis in order to beat a then almost 38 yold Federer..I mean...pfffuuu and then think that Djokovic himself was already at the ripe old age of 32 at the time ....
..and Rafa.oh my...may his come back be possible and sweet too.

Rafa and joker would even get 50 slams but cannot match the elegance of Roger. Cannot match his finesse and cannot match the understanding of the life of tennis; which roger understands.

2008 - a bad year, Rog wins just one grand slam and goes to #2. I mean, just having THAT has a low point is enough to tell you how much of a legend he is.

Roger won't have the most number of grand slams, he won't have the record for most number of weeks at #1, but he will always be a gentleman and #1 in my books for how he had changed the game.

This is one of the best video on UA-cam. The passion and dedication you put in your work is extraordinary. It is like a well crafted art. The selection of music, footage that connect plot with other plot are amazing. This is a superb movie about Roger Federer career. I hope you will also do the same type of video about Djokovic career as I am very sure that you will certainly do it for Nadal.

Beautiful tribute to this exceptional player, very good choice of music and editing, retracing his entire career was an excellent idea but in 1 hour more complicated to develop a story like those on RAFA where the thrill and emotion are more present, can be the next... anyway still a nice video. Cheer

Hey, I took time this night to watch it in the perfect conditions. What a work you did again, so much time to find narrations and a good storyline, and to be able to produce a film of less than 90 minutes that sum up Roger's carrer is a big achievement. And to produce a video like this in only 2 months is fantastic, I can guarantee you that it would be impossible for me ;)
Congrats, you can be proud of your work !

This was a great video from beginning to end. You forget how prolific Roger was to the game of tennis. Roger Federer elevated the game to a different level and the others had to adhere to his standard. I didn't realize how emotional I would be but I cried throughout most of the video. I'm a die-hard Nadal fan but I still liked and respected Federer. I'm sorry his career ended this way. I was hoping he would return, for one last, amazing victory. Having said all of this, I have no idea how I will react when you make the final Tribute to Nadal. I'm gonna be a complete mess!

Unbelievable video mate!! Words can’t describe the effort, dedication and passion you have to make videos!!!
This was an utterly beautiful tribute to Roger!! Growing up I didn’t watch tennis at all, but I heard about Federer during this time and how much he was transcending the sport of tennis!! In recent years I have started to watch more and fall in love with the sport of tennis more and in particular be astonished by the way Roger played, the accomplishments he achieved and the inspiration he is to many!! Safe to say is he is my all time favourite tennis player and the video you created beautifully captures his career!! Absolutely astonishing effort mate

Very well put together. I have been a RF fan since the first time I saw him play, I could never bear to see him lose, but of course no one can win every time and I suffered along with him at every loss. To me, there will never be anyone as great as Roger, he has so much charisma and athletic talent. Part of his charm is also his beautiful deep voice and the way he expresses himself, the emotion he feels on the court.
