Food for thought . I am marrocan and french but I look like a french (More like a white person because I got curly hair everyone thinks I am Spanish or Portugeese). I had this thought after a Tiger Woods documentary, black people wanted to make him a black figure and they where disapointed in the US when he said "I am the Asian" because his mother raised him, like a lot of mum did. So even if you skin is "black" your culture and your identity is your mother's one or the one you feel the closest to. Now when I saw your picture I was like "yeah the two Swiss guy finally together" and a friend was like no he comes from South Africa. Well I guess we all have a Trump friend who can't get that you can be both or it's still in a lot of people mind that you are rather this or this, maybe I get it because I am mixed to. Don't know but just an observation. I love funny people so for your next guest a funny one
You always make the best of every interview. Please would you invite: Francis Ngannou, Joel Embiid, Actor Will Smith and Mrs. if possible, Singer Celine Dion (we will think of more). We would like to chat with those. You know how to make your guests feel at ease even when life has not given them time to feel so. You are blessed.
Man, do I miss seeing this guy play. The mannerisms on the court. The way he would inspect two balls as he walked up to the baseline, tossing one behind him as he got ready to serve. The way the camera showed him in close-up, sort of looking into the camera but not really, as he focused on his opponent and waited for the serve. The way he would walk to his chair after each game, the camera following him as he towered in the frame, nothing betraying his stoic facade except his determination & mental toughness. Yes, all the winning was memorable but so were the little moments that defined him and were as numerous & dependable as the seasons.
So well put. Just such a fond memory of following this guy since 2005 as teenager. I don’t have any huge sporting idols but just the length of time this guy was there is just wild. The other interesting thing was Federer always felt very adult. Contrast that to Alcarz today. Almost Sinner like but more style and emotional story
dont forget the iconic backhands down the line at important moments. Or how he kinda side steps and fades side way for an inside out forehand. Or how he only grunta on the second serve.
I've lost interest in tennis since Roger retired. Now Nadal has retired aswell. Thank you Roger for all the great tennis match thrills. Your beautiful nature always shines through. Love to you and for family. PEACE AND LOVE TO THE WORLD.
I have lost all of my "gotta watch this match!!" feeling now that both have retired. I am definitely watching Rafa's last match(es) in Nov, but I cannot get up enthusiasm to start watching even my new favorite, Sinner. Too heart broken that now Rafa is more or less gone. :(
I have watched the documentary twice and I have cried both the times with the same exact deep emotions ! That is the power yet simpplicity of the ultimate, the supreme and one of the nicest human being to walk on planet earth - 'The Roger Federer'. I salute him for everything he has ever done! Profound Respect, Love and Admiration! 🙌❤
I remember when Roger said that how happy he is he goes out first, not any of them. That was truly a beauty and grace as he was always. That's why we all love him.
😂😂😂Roger is so honest so true to himself. He is enjoying his retirement, children and family. I really miss his tennis, his humor and his positive attitude. Enjoy your life Fed.

Hi, Mr. Noah. We are so glad that "What Now with Trevor Noah" saw the day. We are having great moments with you and your guests. You always do an amazing job getting the best out of the people you interact and "make things best" in those conversations. Congratulations. We support you all the way. Son of Africa!!! One day months ago I was listening to this episode on a different platform. I was driving. Roger is my choice of voice on Waze navigation app. so for the entire trip Roger Federer was directing me while telling me his life story! 😃
No doubt best Federer interview I've seen, it's also first time I watched podcast, just because of Federer. Federer enjoying his not so free time, certainly he deserved it.
I hope when his children are gone for college and he's feeling bored, he comes back to the tennis world as a coach someday. Imagine him and Alcaraz paring up😍
It may be worth remembering that conversation or dialogue is a game of sorts. Trevor and Roger both excel at this game. I cannot pin down what it is that they do so well, but one knows it when one hears it. Trevor's great questions are a great "serve", and Roger has a great return. Both very thoughtful people!
Gotta love Roger describing golf and his backswing- “like tinkering with your tennis serve forever”😂 Even the greatest find the golf muse a source of unimagined attraction. Great stuff!
Regarding Rafa and how he was so profoundly affected by Roger's departing. Roger used the question to pivot to his broader relationships with the top tour players over his illustrious career. However, I imagine Rafa was in in tears because something great was moving on. Roger, but not just Roger...also the possibility of writing something in the annals of history, as they had done on numerous occasions despite and because of their inherent opposition, was over. The clash of these two particular titans is now history, and will one day, if the best is availed for their effort, sacrifice and heroism, will become folklore...talked about by aging fans at club bars, or older coaches to promising youths. 'Ahh, well you should have seen Federer and Nadal, now there was a lesson in commitment, in rising to the moment.' What a great era to have been a fan.
I wonder if Rafa cried so much because he started thinking around that time how much more he was going to be able to play. Who knows? It definitely surprised me how much Rafa cried.
Gotta admit, didn't know who Roger was before this episode, I don't really follow athletes and celebrities. He seems like such a cool person and I can tell that Trevor and Roger are good friends, would love to have more podcast with the two of them. Hope his family and him are doing well.

First and only interview with Roger about his processes. Loved hearing about his type of visualisation. I wonder how he dealt with visualisations of Djokovic during 2011-2019.

Roger IS tennis. He BECAME tennis. There's nothing anyone else can do to change that anymore, I feel like. He's simply, without a doubt, the most natural, most gifted player of all time. That's not even a discussion, everyone who knows anything about tennis knows this. Also, nobody ever cared more about the sport and history of tennis. And then he's of course also an incredible human being. There's a reason he's won the fan favourite award for like 20 years. I too have videos in a YT playlist of him that's 16 years old, back from when I was a teenager. And until recently he was still playing! We simply have never seen anything like him.
