I want more ATF ships. They are just way cooler compared to the rest of the terran ships. Also the carrier looks fragile af. Still looking forward to it.
i always preferred the terran over the ATF ships. they look so nice and sleek. tokyo does look kinda goofy. buts its a carriers so it shouldn't be at the front anyways. it can stay in the back out of view with the honshu it's goofy looking cousin.
The Tokyo originally had a full disc rather than a circle with a line through. It has some decent guns in X3 idk about x4 though XD
Asgard is the best looking ship in the game now IMO. I always liked the split ships they put out in last expansion but this one tops those for sure
yeah, its the first of its class, a battleship (more against other big ships and destroyers rather than fighters.) its main XL main weapons is a one hit kill to everything even itself (if you hold down that attack button) but incredibly difficult to hit anything smaller.
I can't believe the looks of these ships. I absolutely adore them! They look so much better than everything in X4 at the start.
I really hope Egosoft takes it's time to give the other races some "old school" ships. They look so much better than everything in X4 at the start.

@@AssistantCoreAQI ha! *laughs in boarding pods.* Jokes aside, the Asgard is probably the only ship you cannot cheese the boarding with a corvette, as its shield is way to powerful to bring down with any medium size ships. i had to use rattlesnake to overpower one and had to perfrom 3 boardings, with 200 marines each boarding proceedure. once you get one tho, you can use it board another Asgard.

Yea, the Split expansion set a new higher bar in terms of ship design and the Terran expansion looks to be equally good. I'd wager that they'll revisit the old factions at some point. Perhaps they'll add a battleship for each major faction in the game? That would be awesome. Right now, the Asgard, the Raptor and the I-class are in a class of their own.
Another 1000x yes. They BADLY need visual upgrade. Looking at the vanilla M class frigate ships you can definitely see that the devs didnt have enough time to develop unique designs for each of those. I think the L and XL ones (especially the auxulliaries) are quite fine, but good lord M combat classes need huge amount of love.
And here I am hoping they will finally finish the interior of the Nodan :(
agreed visually the base X4 ships look terrible compared to split and terran.
Those models are beautiful. Can't wait to get the expansion. They have more details than Paranid/Teladi/Argon and thanks to that it's easier to imagine their scale imo. Also i think that naming convention is not a coincidence. Designs remind me of Japense space operas classics like LOGH or Gundam.
would be nice if they actually caried gundams :D

Pretty good armed ships. But also very slow. That could be very interesting in fleet battles. Nice work egosoft.
I used to play a ton of X2 and X3. Seeing videos like this is tempting me really hard to go back to space - if it wasn't for all the stupid adulting taking up too much time. But I guess at latest when they release Borons I won't be able to refuse anymore.

As it was in X3... but, it turned out in that series, looks was all they ever had going for them for the most part. Can't wait to see what has changed there.
Yeah I honestly didnt think theyd top the split ships because those were absolutely fantastic but, but the terran ships are exceptionally good. Cant wait for the boron DLC if they find a way to get them in. (I understand they are having difficulty being able to get around the whole aquatic race thingy though so I'd understand if they didnt make it in)

@Darth Ruin I found most of the terran ships very minimal at best minus the Vidar and the best well rounded ships in the game were the Teladi due to being able to equip just about anything on them course their down fall was speed but that was it. The issue with the Terran was their weapons hit hard but were WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY to damn slow.
The ships you get from this expansion just seem way better against any ship of the same class from the factions you get in the base game.
it was like that for the split ships to...this isn't new the split ships vastly outperformed anything else in the game that you could get without mod
I didn't like some things especially in the fighters of CoH.
The capital ships lack bays, while the fighters lack guns.
Not a single terran ship has more than 4 guns, and most have only two guns, those who do have more than 2 are slow afk.
Gladius seems beautiful fighter, but is way to slow, kalis have a lot of shields, but lack guns (one more gun would be great) and is also very slow.
I honestly fall in love with Takoba tough again, she is faster and resilient, but again lack firepower.
The good thing about CoH is that they add battle destroyers and a battle capital ship, but once i got the Asgard, i get disappointed with the fact that it only have tree. Bayes and not capacity to store ships...

OMFG something is bigger then the fkin Tokyo... The ship in the mid is fkin MASSIVE... Hoping the Terran weapons are better here then in X3 cause there their weapons fired very slow hard hitting projectiles and I found that the Teladi were the best ships in the game due to just being able to equip just about anything on them... I used to just park my Capital and broadside and pre load the plasma cannons at max strength and by the time anything got within range to fire back it was too late and if you did not know if you manually fire the plasma turrets and hold the trigger down they will spool up and do greater dmg with a bit higher range... Love the vids man.. Huge X series nerd cant wait to see the Boron as they are my favorite ship designs in X3 :)
The Terran ships have so many circles reminiscent of the Jump Gates.
Dang I was hoping the Hokkaido would have been an L class carrier. Tokyo gives me hope that older designs will see themselves brought back into the other races. the Syn looks fantastic, finely some meat on those ship bones. I am looking forward to this one.
Aww, no Vidar'ish M class corvette? I know most people loved the Springblossom, but I never got over the sheer amount of *OOMPH* the Vidar M6 could pack which made it my favourite playership.
VRO and the other mods will likely add in the missing ships like they have for ships in the other races.
M-yeah, listened to your interview with the CEO as well (gj, btw)... their policy of not messing up save files needs to change, they definitely need to rebalance a lot of stuff. Even if not after this expansion, but after 5.+ are out, they need to seriously consider this. The ship balance and economy are out of whack and I do hope they make more sensible ship / component choices (i.e. more engines for the same ship weight should mean more thrust, etc)
The Hokkaido's gas containers certainly belong on the saucer section. Probably misplaced by some bug.

The more viveos I see, the more excited i get for the dlc. I'm happy that I got in on bundle with all the other dlc on Christmas.
osaka looks rad. great shields and reasonably fast. how fast does it go with split engines XD?

but I know it´s the same love I share with games like Anno 1800... it´s just toooooo much and I´d give up quickly...

Why on earth didn't Egosoft think of letting Honshu use those sails as SOLAR PANELS instead, get some energy cells. Makes no sense to strap some useless "sails" on a ship supposed to supply frontline. If those sails were solar panels it would make total sense for easy ressuply.
I really like more the Syn and Asgard ship styles rather than the donut things, i wish all Terran ships looked more like those.

Hull shield speed travel cargo turrets
Okinawa : 36k 139k 48 1663 25k 8m? It looked like only 5 from the video, but there was a cut so maybe I missed it.
Shuyaku V : 84k 350k 99 3066 37k 9m

I usually use Shuyakus so that's what I compared first, then I checked the Buffalo because a lot of people swear by them, and I just like the looks of the Selene. The Okinawa has the least hull, least shield, is the slowest by far, average weaponry, and only average cargo. My headcannon is that because Terrans didn't need to transport things nearly as much or as far as the other races they didn't develop them as much.

Good, more larger ships i can use as well defended traiders. Slow, and build like castles. Shant have any bother training with these puppys.
I feel sorry for the Argon Federation they have tiny little carriers and destroyers and they have to compete with the split supercarriers and the Terran battleships.
Makes sense in context. The Argon have always been balanced between military and diplomacy as opposed to the hyper aggressive Split and the Terrans who are not only more technologically advanced than everyone else but also super paranoid

I wish they would address the range of combat in this game. It feels nowhere near long range enough, especially for missiles etc.

i have to be honest, i'm not really a fan of how non-symmetrical some of the ship's are. but they arent bad looking either.
I hate what they did to Tokyo, all other ships look really great and actually useful.
I bet that speaking lore-wise, the designs of the Kyoto and Osaka were merged because in x3, they had more or less the same design. Can't wait for the asgard, the successor to the valhalla
The builder ships really need to be updated and unique for each race. It seems like they cut corners on the builder and cargo ships. X3 non combat ships had creative designs and I would like to see that return for X4. The center of the builder ship could be changed and just attach the arms that animate and extend out.

Saw an ARG-Tracking-Turret. Is it new?
homing turrets exists even before split vendetta expansion. but the tracking that i see are swarm homing missiles rather than singular warhead.
i'm glad they also took some ATF-designs from x3, the Syn looks a lot more like an ATF-ship than a normal terran ship :D
what about drone capacity though, isn't that stated in the shipyard? i've only seen capacity for ships?
Take a look at "Units" -> That's the number for drones :)

I'm wondering is there Terran military fraction as well? You know ships like Odin etc.
Syn and Asgard are clearly ATF designs, Osaka and Tokyo are "standard" Terran designs. Their names also give the same vide, norse names were always reserved for ATF. Both factions seem to be mixed together this time. Which makes sense, in X3 AP Terran military command was becoming more like ATF already. Also - where is Valhalla? :(
The ATF is a very high tech science division of the Main Terran Defense fleet and its reserved SPECIFICALLY for the defense of Torus station BUT, its nice their broadening out and doing a bit more with the ATF then what they used to do in X3.. The ATF is the reason nothing besides the Xenon dare attack the terran home of Earth and or Torus station cause these ships have seen so little combat that its almost not sure what you will be dealing with when attacking into them not to mention the Ammo type the Terrans use heavy counter the Xenon to further push the rivalry between the two factions as a whole BUT.. That was back in X3 so who knows where Egosoft will take the story with the two of them.

Would like to see Capital ship balancing or changes to their range. AI just ram into me and its just a big cluster. Like the fighter or Small weapon ranges are fine but Med and Large need some work maybe just give them damage falloff and accuracy but up their range significantly might help. Was it always like this on previous titles?
I know it's a beta review but why does the main carrier have the same s ship capacity as the destroyers? I thought carriers were meant to carry ships?

Except it's having so less turrets (Tyr has 12 turrets from each side at least). Capital ships in X4 - just frigates compared to X3 and X4
You can't even jump into a stargate without game bugging and sending you back to the sector you came from.

disappointing some of the comments. everybody wants these to be OP. they are more interesting when are not. it means you actually have to create and manage a proper fleet with appropriate support vessels. this helps the game. each of those ships are beautiful and have strengths and weaknesses. relish in them. how is a game fun when steamroll over everyone in 10 hours and never play the game again ? come on. i expect more from X fans.

I don't need OP but that Okinawa is really disappointing. I compared it to the Shuyaku, Buffalo, and Selene.
I usually use Shuyakus so that's what I compared first, then I checked the Buffalo because a lot of people swear by them, and I just like the looks of the Selene. The Okinawa has the least hull, least shield, is the slowest by far, has only average weaponry, and only average cargo of those ships.
The destroyers are okay, they'd be good and balanced if they weren't so amazingly slow. And a fight between the Asgard and Rattlesnake could get interesting. The Asgard has reach, but the Rattlesnake has speed.
The designs all look amazing. I especially like the spacefly swatter on the auxiliary ship :P
You can do different things for balance, in x3 terran ships were very powerful stat wise, but they were not op because they were very expensive, hard to equip without your own factories and their weapons were kind of clunky to use. Here the terran ships look weaker than the rest when in the lore they had the most powerful ships.
@@duitk how do you see weaker ships ? this Terran fleet overall is more powerful. that Battleship prolly melts I and Raptors. Rattlesnake can't solo an I or Raptor and the Raptor can't solo an I either. their carrier is standard carrier with standard stats. the higher end destroyer a powerhouse almost Rattlesnake with the low end destroyer type cruiser that nobody has. fills that gap i noticed between frigates and destroyers. been filliing those with cargo ships but not the same. i love their look too. very clean, and they pay hommage to x3. sounds like is nothing could make you happy unless have some juggernaut size of 2 raptors or something. that is not the game dood. new word for you to learn. called "parity" . most factions are supposed to be in the ballpark of eachother so no one steamrolls. i loved being humbled when i took a meager split fleet, Raptor, Rattlesnake, Monitor and started a fight with a fleet HOP thinking would be easy mode. HOP fleet was 10 oddys with Zues and Atlas. destroyed me. a hundred missles, not even close. THAT is parity. want an easy game go play World of Warships or something. Want to work and coordinate and plan to win battles? then your in the right place.
@@scott-richards that transport is garbage, in x3 terran transports were well rounded and fast. Kind of like faster argon ships. The tokyo seems to have low fighter capacity and weak firepower, god that large transport looks so bad it sours a lot of stuff to me. Also where are the atf fighters, and others? Having the atf and regular terran variants was cool now we only get 2 atf ships. Don't get me wrong I'll buy it's just that I had higher expectations.
One thing, parity can be achieved from things other than stats, that is how it was in x3 with the terrans, op on stats, held back by other factors.
I'm thinking of trying this game is it like elite dangerous? Elite dangerous is too Grindy... Hope this is at least ok.
i know why but still kinda disappointed that the terrans use the argon build ship. i like the look of the osaka reminds me of the Kyoto wish they had brought that one back as well.
The terran apparently dont like fighters. Both the ARG XL carrier and PER can house 48 and the terran XL carrier only 18 :/. Seems a waste to get the terran carrier.
They look nice, but their speed is a little worrying.
Any other ship of their class will outrun them, so no trade route protection or Xenon invasion counter strike. They can just protect gates and stations.
Also, Split ships also have a good design, but pack a better punch.
I'm a little disappointed to be honest.
Especially when seeing they once again offered nightmare fuel with their small and medium ships.

Seems like the Rattlesnake is still the BAMF, though it's got a bit of competition with the Terran ships. If only they weren't so slow :X
Asgard vs Rattlesnake? The hull and shields are stronger on the Asgard. The weapons may be equal. While the range advantage is definitely to the Asgard the Rattlesnake can literally fly circles around the Asgard. It's a good matchup on paper.
That Asgard beam needs a buff. It should not do less DPS than their standard cannons. The range is nice, but it's not worth sustained output. (Plus I'm a huge SG1 fan so of course something named after the race in the show has to be powerful :P )
Maybe lower the DPS but buff the range of the standard cannons, then nerf the range and lower the cooldown of the beam weapon? So you can fire with all the main weapons at once instead of pecking away with that beam alone. Plus it would make that beam actually as dangerous as it looks.
the site you are using is adding the main shields and the ones protecting the turrets and engines together ex. the behemoth's main shields are 138,846 (ARG Mk II) the Syn main shields are 208,272 they both have 3 main shield slots, you can use the in game encyclopedia to compare ships

Though for small/medium ships the stats should still be accurate since they don't have individual shields for their turrets.

Wow, that L sized freighter is beyond awful. 48/1663 m/s top speed with only 25000 cargo? Moves like an Incarcatura, loads cargo like a paranid L freighter. Yikes.
Yeah I was wondering about those stats, even the Sonra sits at 112/3705 with high ARG loadout and 29000 cargo. Shame because I really like the look of it.

That was a developer mode :) but you can buy all capital ships at shipyards, except the Asgard and Syn, which you need to build yourself. Or you board and steal them 😉

I played X4 when it just came out. Fun game but felt unfinished. Has anything changed? Is there a storyline? Any improvement with Xenon? Last time I remember their sectors were empty with a couple of invincible stations.
