1. Safety on until ready to fire.
2. Make sure down-range is clear.
3. Always have the barrel pointed in a safe direction.
4. Treat every. Single. Gun. Like. It. Is. Loaded.
5. Finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
It ain't that difficult, yet here are grown men who can't even manage that.

for people like video related, it might be better to build up their gun safety habits with BB guns; good enough to replicate gun safety, and if there is somehow a ND it at least will not be a .223 sized hole through a person
for people firing guns like revolvers, there should only be ONE loaded round to get them used to the kick, seen a guy on reddit almost double tap his head because he never shot a .357 (or .44? dont remember)
6. be sure of where your shot is going to end up and if the bullet passes through the target it doesn't hit an innocent bystander or damage property .

Really I think buzzfeed is more to blame for this awful video then the guys themselves. Also when the first negligent discharge happened at 2:56, his gun didn't even fire. The bolt doesn't cycle. It was just someone else in the range who was shooting. Its buzzfeed's fault for editing the video in a way that demonizes guns and shooting ranges, by putting stuff out of context.

I learned the easy way that the safety doesn't work all the time with a crossbow and dry fire trying to make sure the safety worked, it didn't even come close to working and the mechanism is worn.

Having gone to dozens of gun ranges, I can almost certainly tell you that 1- That was taken out of context to push a narative. And 2- The man was most likely saying, "Remember all these rules I just told you, keep your finger off the trigger unless you are ready to fire, never aim at someone else, do not leave a live gun unattended, etc etc, otherwise you could die here if someone is not being smart." He didn't just say that randomly.

I’m 4 years late but hotel management, restauranteurs and professional kitchen work (back of house) and journalism are all traditionally male dominated professions.
This reminds me of the story:
I left me loaded shotgun on the rocking chair on the porch and went about my day. The postman delivered the mail, a mother walked past with her two kids. I checked on the gun from time to time and nothing happend. A dog walked past my yard, a Jehovah Witness came and knocked on my front door. Nothing. Finally at the end of the day, I took the gun inside and felt let down, all those people had passed my house and no one was shot. I think my gun is broken.

I would think that would be a good thing. As humans, we manifest the spiritual, and the primal, the sinful, and the holy, the hot and the cold, the black and the white, we are broad and complicated and varied and completely beyond full comprehension and that is BEAUTIFUL. Anyway, inside of every human, deep down for some of us, there resides a monster. There is no changing this. And if we could purge the monster, it wouldnt be right to do so, cause youd be sacrificing your humanity. We must contain and restrain this monster, we must keep it from destroying who and what we love.
But, it's not all bad. That same ocean of anger that we all possess, which is a weapon, just like a sword or a gun, can cause great harm if not controlled, can also be channeled into a positive avenue. It's the very thing that lends the vengeful parent the ability to do things like lift cars and rip doors apart with their bare hands when someone is harming their child. It's the strength to, for just one brief moment of time, address the world and dictate how physical reality is going to be shaped, briefly transcending all impediments so that one soul can protect another.
These moments are rare, and should never be sought after, but should be grasped without reservation when called for. But, in the peaceful times, that monster still wants out, and it still wants to rage, so we must learn to master it. One of the best ways to keep it in line is to allow it some air. To vent it in a harmless direction. If you have rage, calm it when you can, but sometimes you need to loosen the leash a little and allow it to run free for a bit. That's one of the uses of guns and heavy metal.
Harm targets, not people.
Handling something as powerful as a firearm is bound to activate that primal warrior energy that is within you. Makes sense to me. Let him express himself.

@@coultonharmon2266 I have as much fun as the next guy when it comes to shooting, but it's not that deep of a feeling just shooting a gun. He was only excited doing something new and being relieved it wasn't as bad or as dangerous as he thought, now maybe if he learned how to box, then that primal feeling might be there, learning how to use your body for self defense is excillirating and really gets that adrenaline and testorerone going.

I took my first firearms course when I was 12. I was the youngest person to ever take it, thanks to my mother making it clear to the instructor I'd not make a fool out of myself. We take the course, we get invited for the advanced course, i get more training on top of that, and am still friends with that instructor 23 years later. Know what I *didnt* do during that course? Negligent discharge.
