Are there any gray spots on the television in real dark scenes or when the screen is black? I have a cheaper edge-lit TV and every dark scene there are gray spots does this one have that?
@@tdbomg1 I have a 65 as well. There is definitely some great spots because it's backlit, if you want that deep black then you'll want OLED or the Q70R and higher.
I just got three of them, mounted. Two 49" and one 75" and a HW-Q60R Samsung/Harman Kardon Soundbar and Woofer. Everything looks and sounds great, from movies like John Wick to my Xbox, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. The TV's are all on one wall and in a sound-deadened room with black out curtains.

It sounds like the 2018 NU8000 was better than the 2019 RU8000. I see they took away the local dimming in 2019 forcing you to buy the higher end QLED to get that feature back. Am I understanding this correctly or am I missing something? By the way, the staff at RTINGS does a great job and I appreciate the hard work on all their videos!
To me the NU8000 is not better. Because the NU8000 misses all the game relevant features like FreeSync, ALLM, VRR. So the RU8000 is the better option for gaming
I have had the 49 inch ru8000 for a year. I love it. I had a 1080p samsung from a few years ago I'm not sure the model. The picture was ok but the smart apps were terrible. So I upgraded to this with a Christmas bonus last year and I love how quick it is. The picture is good but my comparison isn't great bc this is my first 4k tv. I do have an issue with it turning itself back on immediately after I turn it off and sometimes refusing to connect to my samsung soundbar. I have only played my ps4 on it a few times this year due to being too busy for gaming but when I have played it switches itself to "game mode" and playing the last of us part 2 looked better than on my older tv. I feel for the price I paid ($500) it's a good tv on a budget.
I recently purchased the RU8000 65 inch. It has a good picture for normal viewing, and looks great paired with a PS4 Pro. I will admit that the Sony looked better in the store, but the price difference was substantial at this price point ($1,099 for the Samsung or $1,699 for the Sony X900F). It looked better, but not 45% better, though to be fair at this price the X800G is a better comparison. My only complaint is a nagging flickering on pattern images (think chain link or thin striped or checkered shirts). I've yet to find a setting that helps with this.

Thanks for the review. I was looking at both the Samsung ru8000 vs Sony X900F, and semi interested in the LG so this was great. Love how you know which TVs to compare them with. Ended up with the Samsung and it’s nice (for $800 on BLack Friday sale otherwise would never have paid the full $1100 for this 65” TV) but still need to adjust the visual settings out of the box. If I had the extra cash I definitely would have gone with the Sony X900F though.
I love my nu8000. I've had it for a year and still get amazed by how deep the blacks are and how vibrant the colors are, especially to be and edge lit led. The brightness is really gonna make a difference here, I would recommend the nu over the ru anyday. Slightly lower input lag isn't worth it the ru.
@@jxg4197 I use mine to game on Xbox and it's great, it's going to be pretty similar to the ru anyway. The HDR is def worth it. Also we were watching a movie last night and something new happened, at the top of the screen we had black bars which is fine when watching wide screen content, however, this time the black part had mosaics, and what looks like bar codes flickering the whole movie, My question is, Is this normal behaviour, should i return the tv and buy another one, or is there a solution. Spent 2k in Canada on this and am not appreciating my tv...Any help? Thankyou
Thanks for this amazing review! I would like to have one question though. Does the 49” version have VRR forum hdmi? So if the new ps5 would support that, could this tv take advantage of that? Thank you!

Had samsung tech come and have a look.. they came to my place 5 times.. replaced the back and even took the TV to their workshop and replaced the whole LCD for a week. I have been watching many of your great reviews, but no one ever seems to address flight simulating. Most of us simmers are using Xplane and / or awaiting the new MSFS 2020. The reviews for gaming TV's may not be so suited to flight sim, or would they be? Day v Night landings, VRR for constantly changing rates over sea or cities. Viewing angle doesn't matter for example. clear runway lights at night do matter. Do you think your suggestions for gaming apply to flight sims or more for action driving or shoot em up games?

I’ve had this tv for 7months now and I’ve gotten a small black line across it. (Horizontally) and it’s bothering me a lot. I need to either fix it myself or call someone. It’s small.. and Idk where it would have come from.. I’ve never damaged the tv. It’s never moved.. I play both ps4 pro and xbox1x on it. Never had a issue.. someone help 🙏🏽
I purchased this tv and had major issues with auto dimming. We noticed the screen dimming whenever the scenes would go from really light to really dark. The dimming would be slightly delayed so it was super noticeable and annoying. Not sure if this is the local dimming feature a lot of these tvs have but I absolutely hate it and even tried turning off extra settings but it would still continue to happen. I'm already returning the tv and looking for a replacement.
This is a byproduct of local dimming (or frame dimming) and unfortunately it can't be disabled on this TV. Look for a TV with better or no local dimming for a better result.
Which would pick between the Vizio P Series Quantum and Samsung RU8000 for a 75”? They are the same price right now at my local Best Buy. The guy at the store told me the Samsung is better but I’ve had my eye on the Vizio. Thanks in advance!
Which did you go with, and are you happy? I have he same issue, but the RU8000 is 2-300 Cheaper. If they were the same price I would easily go with the Vizio.
Looking for a 75 to 80" around $1500 give or take a few. Was looking at Samsung 8 Series, Vizio, Sony or LG. Was probably going to get from Best Buy as I like the service plan. Got any advice for me?
Why is the RU8000 worse than NU8000 from 2018 in design (larger bezels and plastic looking for RU8000) and features (specially SDR and HDR brightness)? is the RU8000 supposed to be a cheaper model this year than NU8000? why else would Samsung make it worse on purpose.
@@PokeOVO - compare them at Rtings.com. The NU8000 appears to have a much brighter screen, and the design is also more premium. Perhaps the price is lower on the RU8000.
So I bought this TV (65inch) to get 4k@120hz on the new Xbox series x...Did I mess up? I can only choose 4k@60hz or 1080p@120hz. Is it not possible to do both at the same time here?
No. This TV is HDMI 2.0. But you could go for 1440p or 1080 and 120p. If you really need 120 FPS. But most Games with 120 FPS are not in native 4k. So i think it is okay and enough. 4k and 60 FPS with better graphics is nice too.
If using as a PC monitor running 1440p @120hz, what is the impact of applying the BFI @ 60Hz? Does this improve the picture or picture quality when gaming at 1440p @ 120hz with 120FPS v sync
I bought this t.v. and when I first hooked my Xbox up to it I played with automotion plus on to clear up motion blur. It worked fine, at first. Later on, I tried to play with automotion on again and it would not turn back on during game mode no matter what I tried. When I turn it on game mode, automotion plus automatically shuts off and it won't turn back on no matter what I do. I am 1,000 percent sure I gamed for several hours with it on and now I can't. Anyone else have this problem?
what about the "angel-issue"? I mean I have a pretty large couch, mostly watching while lying :) Next, my Tv hangs little higher, so i do not look straight in the middle of the screen. Have you some issues with lower quality watching not totally straight? thx fpr your help
Bought this tv recently and was wondering what the best gamma preset is. It comes standard at bt 1886 with the slider at 0. I know rting changed theirs to 2.2. When I do this it seems washed out to me however bt 1886 seems darkish? Not sure if that’s the best way to describe it. I also don’t want to pick an inaccurate setting just because my eyes are used to it one way or another. Anyone have any input on the best gamma preset?
I'm wanting to buy a tv to prepare for the power of the new generation of consoles. Will this tv be able to handle all of the specs of let's say an xbox series x?
I dont think this TV has hdmi 2.1 or freesync 2. Both of which will be necessary to get the best out of next gen consoles. Freesync 2 basically makes it so HDR at 4K 60+ has less input lag by eliminating a secondary process or "check". These things should be standard in most mid-tier+ 4k TVs and monitors next year. Ideally they will have 1)hdmi 2.1, 2)120hz minimum native refresh with a low latency game mode 3)freesync 2, & 3)HDR 10+ or Dolby Vision. Everything else is just filler or non-gaming related.
@@Sonnymac81 I literally just ordered the TV in 55 inch since it offers freesync VRR and 120 hz. Obviously freesync 2 or 3 would be an improvement but I'm just to impatient to wait lol I got a decent deal on it too so couldn't pass it up
@@GoNzo4209 haha, I cant lie I did too. Thats why I was watching this review. For the low $589.00 with free shipping, couldn't pass it up. Im waiting till 2022 to buy next gen consoles though. This TV is perfect for the X1X. If anything, Ill just sell it for 300-400 bucks and buy something better alongside the Series X and PS5.
Just bought this. It looks amazing feels smooth. I have to ask though, how did you get the extra setting on the Xbox that you enabled? Mine wasn’t able to click on the variable refresh rate? Is there a setting on the tv I have to do? Please help
I got the new Ps5 and I'm trying to figure out how to set the Refresh Rate to 120 Mhz.. When looking at my input data it's only showing 4k HDR at 60 MHz on the Ps5. However, the "Smart" setting features Samsung is using in the Advanced Settings options, makes it rather difficult to customize the TV yourself. Instead a lot of this is done automatically. So I'm not sure this is something I can access, but I imagine it should be... Any advice on how to set input to use 120 MHz?
This TV is HDMI 2.0 You can´t do 4k and 120 Hz. On This TV you could do 1440p and 120FPS but PS5 don´t support that (for now). So you have to go for graphics mode in Games with 4k and 60 FPS. This is also good
I bought this TV and after using the RTings calibration settings am very satisfied. Only two things are not great - the sound, its trash. Also the brightness - use the calibration settings RTings have provided and it can get just bright enough, but its on the edge of being too dim. If it was brighter this TV would have been amazing.
For all those looking at the RU8000 TV. Most wall mount manufacturers do not include the screws required for this TV. Samsung in its infinite wisdom provided spacers to make the curved back “flat” but not the oversized screws required. You will need to buy M8 x 43-45mm 1.25 pitch bolts SEPARATELY. Please add as a con to future reviews! #SamsungFail.
Nate Kirkland LOOK at that INPUT LAG INCREASE on the Vizio compared to the Samsung when you play in 4K WITH HDR. That’s leaning me towards the Samsung but I’m just worried about MISSING the little details in HDR with the Samsung. Vizio gets really BRIGHT & it doesn’t seem like the Samsung does as much :((((. HDR is the second most important thing for 4K Gaming after INPUT LAG so it’s a tough call :)))))). Previous Samsungs I’ve bought have been AMAZING, friends have Vizio P series & it seems great for gaming too (Vizio may have some more quality control issues too, something with a recent FIRMWARE UPDATE CAUSING FLICKERING?). Freesync is a big BONUS too. SAMSUNG would probably be KILLER with an Xbox One X though or PC 🌞

What’s the difference between this model and the ru800dfxza are they the same or different in something.
Is HDMI forum 2.1 vrr actually working on this TV now with Nvidia cards? Your site has been incorrectly stating it does for a year now.
????? what do you mean??? UE65RU8002 has VRR (Freesync)?? i checked on smasung website????
Please review Samsung RU7400. Ty
for watching sports games and fast movie experience only so do you suggest this one Samsung ru8000 or sony xf900 or xg950 please help guys?
Still using this for ps5 and series x still holds up 3 years later
Hi I have a nu7100 55 atm but when playing hdr games blacks and color all washes out would the ru8000 be a better choice or the sony ?
I have been watching many of your great reviews, but no one ever seems to address flight simulating. Most of us simmers are using Xplane and / or awaiting the new MSFS 2020. The reviews for gaming TV's may not be so suited to flight sim, or would they be? Day v Night landings, VRR for constantly changing rates over sea or cities. Viewing angle doesn't matter for example. clear runway lights at night do matter. Do you think your suggestions for gaming apply to flight sims or more for action driving or shoot em up games?
so if you would like to pick up 55"RU8005, then go for similar TV 55"Q60R?
How does the 2018 75” Q6FN TV stack up against the 75” 2020 RU9000?
Hello i have a question i connected my nintendo switch and it stuck at 1080p 60p i know switch wont go more than that but it should be showing 1080p @120p because i know 4kgaming goes at 60p maximum. And then i connect my 1920x1080p laptop 144hz and was stuck at 4k 60p i wanna know if it something to do with the device connected or the tv options that i have to fix ? Please help.
I have a 75inch ru7100. I'm taking it back as it has too much motion blur and also light bleed on the bottom corner. Will upgrade to the 8000 and hopefully see an improvement
Can the ads be disabled for this TV? That's a deal breaker for me.
Why does it look like silver Samsung symbol is way off center to the left?
Every time you show your homepage it's like spoilers galore. You could blur out the scores so we can enjoy the video more.
Didn't need much convincing to sub to you guys. Great work.
Hi Daniel, 'different sizes have different back-light'? What does the 75 inch have..
Thanks in advance
Is it supports sonyDolby atmos soundbar
Looking for a 75 to 80" around $1500 give or take a few. Was looking at Samsung 8 Series, Vizio, Sony or LG. Was probably going to get from Best Buy as I like the service plan. Got any advice for me?
Samsung Q60R or RU8000? Which better?
The Rtings website says they're more of less similar quality overall.
What is the differences between the ru800d?
Why is the RU8000 worse than NU8000 from 2018 in design (larger bezels and plastic looking for RU8000) and features (specially SDR and HDR brightness)? is the RU8000 supposed to be a cheaper model this year than NU8000? why else would Samsung make it worse on purpose.
So is the nu8000 brighter ? I’m trying to see which one got the better picture
I've tried turning off freesync, on freesync, 1080p, 1440p, 120hz, 60 hz, nothing is working.
You should completely reset your TV
This TV or Phuilips 58PUS7304 ?
How do I put my TV to 120hz what port is the hdmi 2.1
what about the "angel-issue"?
It has same function which ps and xsbox has.
Samsung 43ru8000 or lg nanocell sm8600? Pls answer
Just bought this. It looks amazing feels smooth. I have to ask though, how did you get the extra setting on the Xbox that you enabled? Mine wasn’t able to click on the variable refresh rate? Is there a setting on the tv I have to do? Please help
Depends of the size tv I think inder 49 inches dont have the vrr
This is also good
Whats the basic dimming feature on the previous model? and its brighter hmmm I don which one to get for my living room. room isn't that dark though
I wish I can buy the NU8000. I'm disappointed that Samsung got rid of local dimming in the RU8000.
Hello, now its 700 euro, SAMSUNG UE65RU8002UXXH, its deal?
what is better for the new call of duty? this in 55"" or HIsense H9F 55"?
I'm debating on this or the Vizio p series. Rtings has the Vizio ranked higher but the samsung has freesync. Would anyone buy this over the vizio?
I needed this today Daniel. Thank you
I wonder if the nu8000 is better because it says it comes with HDR plus,
We got this great gaming tv for our PS4! So many gaming features.
Can you mount it on a wall?
Rtings I’m hoping you could help me. I’m trying to decide wether or not to buy the 8000 or the q60. Currently the q60 is a $100 More is it worth it?
Dont bother mate. They are shit. The nu8000 is best if you are definitely buying one but no DTS audio playback via the USB slot
Phil Dawson that doesn’t really matter to me and I understand that last years models are better but what’s the difference suppose to be in the 8000 and q60?
@@michaelslavin1615 q60 is QLED cheapest one nu8000 is not but is a very bright nice picture TV. I bought one for 507 pounds but sent it back because of the no DTS audio playback thing
So what did you choose?
So i just bought one of these (UN55RU8000), the 55" version.
Ive connected it to my PC over HDMI, and it SAYS its running at 120hz 1080p.
But i can see that its not. and decided to check it on www.testufo.com/.
The 120Hz ufo looks EXACTLY the same as the 60Hz in the test.
Anyone else having this issue? and if so, how do i fix it?
maybe it's because are not real hz :/, ¿did you solve it?
Do midrange comparison between this and Sony x85g
How many speakers can i connect at the same time via Bluetooth?
I just bought this tv at best buy! Picking it up in the morning
How much did you pay for it?...
Great Black..dark scenes...for me thats the most important..because i watch alot of movies this tv has it...i like LG but there dark ..black showings are bad
how do i access the variable refresh rate support on my ru8000?
Which one better between panasonic gx800?
Are there multiple models of the RU8000.
They advertise it as 200htz
Love this TV, but an annoying problem is when I click it off, it sometimes comes back on?! So if I am gone for awhile, this is not good. Any suggestion, fix? Thanks
My 65 RU8000 turns on by itself 20-30 seconds right after shut down.
This is definitely the last Samsung product in my house.
Do you have any receivers or a gaming system ? If you have one connected. Make sure that you don't have automatically turn tv on, turned on
Rather get the 2018 NU8000 or Q7 and you're good
What I really wanna know is: Is this good for PS5?
should be, i got the 49 inch it’s 60hz the other bigger screens are 120 hz. most games next gen are gonna be 4k 60 fps so it’s gonna be fine and it has very low input lag
For my opinion yes
What HDMI Cables are you using for the 65" TV?
Emotiva has a sell on now, great cable's. Clearance price maybe sold out purchased one, work better than one costing $90. Now I purchased 3 more. 30 day money back guarantee.
