Every time your cat jumps down from a high surface, that tag will wallop them right in the face. Very useful video. I was considering buying airtags for my cats. Following the advice given on this video, though, I think I'll probably look into the option of buying a GPS tracker. Thanks a lot!
Absolutely right, put your pets on a leash and take them for a walk, especially a cat. However, most people are lazy, and they're shy putting a leash on a cat.
i think the best practical use of this with pets is to use a cat/dog harness and store the airtag inside or on the harness, and have your pet wear the harness when walking them or letting them outside for any reason. that way it isn’t really dangling from your pet’s collar and getting in their way. if you let your pet out frequently away from urban areas, i’d invest in an actual gps tracker instead.
Thank you cat. You are cute. Hope your butler pays you delicious treats after featuring your video. 😸 i was hoping that airtag could solve the lost pets issue. However, there are still a large percentage of owners do not microchip their pets nor updating their registration details.
I have a AirTag on my cat.. there is holders to put on collars . My cat is smaller that this cat she wears it comfortably. It is a good idea, when she hears the sound she knows when to come back. I do have an older phone (8plus) so if you lose it you have to find it solely based off the sound. And I literally just went on an adventure this morning to find the collar. I say get it if you have a more up to date phone.
This was the one thing I was concerned for cause where I live I can’t find a good gps trackers for cats they’re so big! But I found the AirTags to be quite suitably smaller than others but damn expensive where I live
I bought an AirTag with collar for my cat as well since I moved to a new home recently where my cat can go outside. I must say, the AirTag was not a succes. I lost my cat on her first real attempt to go outside. Tried to find her with my phone and trace the AirTag, but I was unable to find her. I didn’t get a location update for over an hour, so it was really hard to try and find her. I spent around 2 hours walking around my home trying to find her. Just when I was about to give, I got a location update, telling me she was near me. Finally I could use to locate option, but like in your video, it was still very difficult to lock on. In the end, it turned out she was 10 meters away from my house, crawled into a corner of my neighbor’s garden. I didn’t get a location update until I was 3 meters away from here and even then, it was still difficult to find her. Long story short, I am not too happy about the AirTag on my cat and I just ordered a tabcat with rf technology. That should work a lot better… i hope 😅
Although it was difficult to, it still helped you find your cat, no? I read an article where it said that they recommended the air tag for indoor only cats, as they tend to get scared easily and tend to hide, giving you a better chance at trying to track them. And for outdoor cats a gps tracker is recommended since they’re used to the outdoors and wander more. I was thinking about getting one for my indoor only scaredy cat that likes door dashing sometimes, but im not sure
Thanks for the video. As for “Keep your cat in doors” great advise but most cats just want to have the freedom to come and go. My cat is a Russian blue pedigree. She was intended to be an indoor cat. We have a large 5 bedroom house lost of space but after about a year is her being a complete madam and marking the place in desperate attempts to get out we finally submitted to her and she’s been the best cat ever since. Unfortunately she has gone missing from time to time hitched a ride on the inside of our electric car and ended up miles away. But the smart Tags are a little large to be dangling like you said. I’m looking in to an alternate collar I’ll post something in time. Thanks for the video!
@@stan76419 no nothing yet, I did invest in the air tag an intermediary measure but not happy with it and the find my network is insufficient and does not update the air tag whereabouts often enough as it will go a couple of hours without a location update where I know my neighbours have iPhones and are using find my on their phones.
I just purchased an AirTag & special collar for my 15lbs cat. I have a family member who is extremely forgetful and often leaves doors ajar. My cat got out once before so I placed door alarms on outdoor access doors. I'm hoping that if my car ever escapes again maybe a neighbor will pick up the signal & call since I only have an iPhone X and do not have UWB capabilities.
You should just put the airtag on the smaller ring that's holding the bigger ring. That's exactly what I did with the one I put on my cat and it works. Actually switch it with the ring with the bell. I also left the bell on my cat's collar and she also has extra collars, maybe you want to take off the one with the airtag when he's inside the house, if you do decide to use it on the cat.
I liked this . What a pretty Kitty.. that nose! Thanks for sharing. This will probably save some folks from investing in the air tag for their cats. Keep mine inside.
I just bought one today for my cat! Can’t wait ‘til it’s ready to be picked up from the Apple Store. I have an indoor cat who grew up in the countryside so she always wants to go out and sometimes gets lost. Even though she has my phone number and all on her collar, she sometimes wanders way too far and for way too long until someone finds her when she doesn’t go back home. Literally the other day she was gone missing for over 15h, to finally be found by someone… over a mile away from my house !!! And I live in a capital 😅 can’t keep her in all the time, she wants to go out so she should be able to. But I don’t want to be worried about her being out anymore so I think the AirTag (that I will attach to her collar) will definitely be great 😊
Good video. When I initially purchased my AirTags, I didn’t see a radius on them. And I figured they would be online like Tile is always online. My service dog ran into the woods when he saw a fox and I couldn’t find him and panicked like crazy. If he didn’t come home on his own a while later…. I would have been so upset. The AirTag literally doesn’t even work much for me to be honest and I rather get a refund. Lol I literally can only see his location when he’s at home or right next to me. What’s the point of a tracker……. If you cannot use it!? I’ll keep using the Tile on him and AirTags….for keys and bags. But I don’t trust AirTags at all after my personal experience.
I just got a collar from amazon that incorporates the airtag into the collar. It's great, so the issue of it being in the way is a non issue. So it makes us feel better that if the cat gets away we at least have some hope of tracking him.
As long as you don’t live in a super rural area and there are people around with Apple devices you’ll be able to have a pretty good idea where your cat is. Being able to know the area where my cat is is good enough for me
This idea entered my mind hahahaha…We have a neutered cat but for some odd reason he wants to go outside as much as male cats that are not neutered. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Looks like the Samsung smarttag is much more useful here... You can put it into search nearby mode and get a notification when it's in range - so you can walk around the neighborhood and you'll know if the cat's around
1. Buy an Airtag holder that slips over the collar. They are out there. 2. Condition the cat by playing the sound every time you feed her. Then when she’s lost and you’re nearby she’ll come running when you trigger it.
Since Apple has opened up the API to third-party tracking devices, a Find My enabled pet collar seems like it would be the best solution to this use case
An AirTag collar could solve the issue of the pending tag. The issues with tracking could be partially solved if the pet comes when you call his or her name. If a cat is lost for one or two days might answer to your call even though, it’s not something he or she does when is at home.
I think because there is such an obvious market for pet-airtags, we will see some soon. Airtag allows thirdparty sellers to get into the system, so airtag-collars will definitely be ideal.
Thank you for this short and very clear video. It convinced me not to choose an AirTag for my cats. (PS: you might want to do something about your cockroach problem in the house 😅)
Thank you so much for this video . I really needed to see how it stays on a cat . My cat is the same size and it really looks big, even though i have seen type of airtag bracelets which will prevent it of hanging down . Thanks again !
Idea: A watchband style mounting for an AirTag for a pet's collar. If an AirTag or something like it would track far enough, good idea. Pet owners would go crazy for it. It could also be useful for elder care, for health and safety needs. -- For pets, especially cats, they can slip out of a collar, and that's actually better than choking. But it means you may have to get replacement collars and ID tags regularly. So anything like an AirTag needs to be cheaper than they are now, for sure. To me, the current AirTags price seems too high. But I'd be interested in a good ID tracking tag for pets, if it was cheap enough.
I was waiting for a video like this. My cat is usually indoors but I was still curious hahaha. We love your cat - she’s a natural in front of the camera. They’re great pest control in Aus.
I ❤️😘 your cat mate. Nice video. Also, I just noticed that you’ve changed the name of your channel to Created Tech. This is a more accurate and better name. All the best!!
this is late but the airtag noise kind of sounds like a bird, so if the cat doesn't realize the sound is coming from the airtag, it will try to look for the nonexistent bird, and get confused while trying to look for it, so that means that the noise feature is bad to use when you put an airtag on your cat, but sometimes it might do something good such as confuse them in a way that they stay where they are at.
I run an airtag on my cat, works great. Not using a dangley airtag holder but one that keeps it close to the neck. I live more rural and I get about 60ft of tracking and I can tell if the cat is at the neighbors.
We had our cat go missing for days and we had a tile on him which is roughly the same size as an AirTag. We walked the neighborhood searching for days about to give up until we got a tile nearby notification, luckily we found him, but without that tile we probably would have never found him. He would have never survived in the winter cold for much longer. With all that being said, of course you could just smugly say “just keep your cat indoors” as if everyones cat owning experience is universal 🙄….things happen and these small Bluetooth trackers aren’t perfect but they can give you a better chance of finding your cat that without it.
I agree that it is not a good idea, but for all different reasons. Pretty much all of the stated reasons in this video can be solved or dealt with relatively easy - especially the “tag-dangling” problem…

@@howcan66 no I wouldn’t annoy a pet with this it’s bad enough a collar on them with nothing dangling from it
Get a airtag collar attached to it on Amazon. The tag will lay flat on its neck rather than dangle… just got one for my cat
Put an AirTag on the roach your cat found.
I was about to say that lol
good for farm cats, and theres a different collar attachment/body harnesses that hold the tag in.
Thank you cat. You are cute. Hope your butler pays you delicious treats after featuring your video. 😸 i was hoping that airtag could solve the lost pets issue. However, there are still a large percentage of owners do not microchip their pets nor updating their registration details.
Hay this works even pets too far from home i have adopted so many street cats and I'm always worried about my cat..😅
Cat: where is my privacy?
This was the one thing I was concerned for cause where I live I can’t find a good gps trackers for cats they’re so big! But I found the AirTags to be quite suitably smaller than others but damn expensive where I live
I've also been put off by the size of the GPS trackers available. Way too big for my cat.
Found an alternative yet? GPS collars are way too big for my cat... hmm 🤔
@@stan76419 no nothing yet, I did invest in the air tag an intermediary measure but not happy with it and the find my network is insufficient and does not update the air tag whereabouts often enough as it will go a couple of hours without a location update where I know my neighbours have iPhones and are using find my on their phones.
this was something i was thinking of doing so thank you so much for trying this and posting! subscribed!
You can get a specific holders for a cat collar
I'm just here for your cat. She's pretty. I don't care about airtags.... 🤣
SUCH A LOVELY CAT 🥰❤️
I just got a collar from amazon that incorporates the airtag into the collar. It's great, so the issue of it being in the way is a non issue. So it makes us feel better that if the cat gets away we at least have some hope of tracking him.
As long as you don’t live in a super rural area and there are people around with Apple devices you’ll be able to have a pretty good idea where your cat is. Being able to know the area where my cat is is good enough for me
Very helpful thanks! Award for best performance in a product review goes to your beautiful cat. Beautiful markings.
There are better holders specifically meant for pet collars that go much closer and make it so the tag can’t fall out
Thank for this review. I think we need AirTag 2.0 which may smaller and lighter.
Apple should make special versions for cats and dogs.. a massive market for it I’m sure.
your cat is just so cute! and that ew it's not m1 is so hilarious lol
Yesss
Hey any product on market yet ?
Brilliant idea. Make it weatherproof. My cat escapes outside sometimes and I worry, this would be amazing
An AirTag collar could solve the issue of the pending tag. The issues with tracking could be partially solved if the pet comes when you call his or her name. If a cat is lost for one or two days might answer to your call even though, it’s not something he or she does when is at home.
you can get collars with an embedded air tag socket so it won’t drag
now I can't imagine the cat without this airbag, this looks so perfect.
looks heavy and bulky and smack the cat in the face whenever its eating
I think because there is such an obvious market for pet-airtags, we will see some soon. Airtag allows thirdparty sellers to get into the system, so airtag-collars will definitely be ideal.
What a good model!
Thanks for creating a video about it!
There needs to be a AirTags Pet Pro tag and the Find My App needs to have that Aliens 2 tracking interface with sound effects for movement.
You should have put it on a doctor so you can always locate the doctor because you know one apple makes doctor away.
hahaha -_-
Thank you for this short and very clear video. It convinced me not to choose an AirTag for my cats. (PS: you might want to do something about your cockroach problem in the house 😅)
What did you choose?
@@MyMegaJOKER2 I bought a Weenect but didn’t use it yet
What a Beautiful baby girl 🥰
Thank you so much for this video . I really needed to see how it stays on a cat . My cat is the same size and it really looks big, even though i have seen type of airtag bracelets which will prevent it of hanging down . Thanks again !
Probably my favorite video of the week. Though I would've wanted your cat to take apart that cockroach on video, that would've been so satisfying!
Theres a silicon case thats designed for collars to keep it close to the collar/body and not hang.
Lmao the clip of your cat fuxking with the roach had me dying
this is late but the airtag noise kind of sounds like a bird, so if the cat doesn't realize the sound is coming from the airtag, it will try to look for the nonexistent bird, and get confused while trying to look for it, so that means that the noise feature is bad to use when you put an airtag on your cat, but sometimes it might do something good such as confuse them in a way that they stay where they are at.
I run an airtag on my cat, works great. Not using a dangley airtag holder but one that keeps it close to the neck. I live more rural and I get about 60ft of tracking and I can tell if the cat is at the neighbors.
I also took the speaker out of the cat airtag.
this is the video I have been waiting last two weeks!
She’s a cute calico.
I agree that it is not a good idea, but for all different reasons. Pretty much all of the stated reasons in this video can be solved or dealt with relatively easy - especially the “tag-dangling” problem…
How cute!!! your cat has black spot on it's nose. I want to kiss it.
Maybe like stick the airtag like on the back or something not with sticky tape but prevent it from just hanging off the collar
I live in an area without many iphone users so it barely ever updates
