Great video ! Do you have the part number ?
Thank bern! The part Number is 478a0ez40b.
Nissan tried to tell me this is a replacement for if I already have the part. I don't have the trailer package, so will this fit it?
Pull apart the dash and find the connector for it before you buy the trailer brake controller. Some trucks do and some dont.
Long live the TITAN! Really wasn't in the market in March '24 thinking I'd continue to make do with my 2011 Silverado w/ LS V8 due to new truck costs and most of those lacking a gas V8. Then come to find the mighty TITAN will cease production forever come summer '24. Found a '23 never-titled certifed dealer courtesy vehicle with 1K miles for nearly $15K under MSRP of new. YES! But it didn't have the integrated brake controller; the only thing lacking that I wanted. Thanks to you and a Titan forum poster who convinced me that dealers rarely have correct answers to such things, I know now I can retrofit one. Just purchased a unit and with your video and that Metra installation PDF I will be doing same as I hate the out-of-sight, knee-interfering aftermarket units. THANK YOU!!
BTW, the poster on that TITAN forum stated he was an employee at the Canton, MS factory. He said that if you have a TITAN that came with the "Accessory Utility Pkg" (Hitch with electrical connectors) then you WILL have a complete harness that includes the leads/connector for the integrated brake controller. I cannot verify but seems like a source who knows what he is talking about.
Thanks and good luck with your new Titan. Glad the video helped you out.
Perfect, helped a lot and just got mine in for a 2021 Titan SV Crew Cab.
Glad it helped Ecog!
I just installed the OEM tbcu on my 2019 Titan SV, your video was very useful.
I have 2019 midnight edition . Do u think every nissan has it ?
No i recommend you check for the harness before you buy a new trailer brake controller. Some do NOT have the harness.
Will that work on a new 2023 Titan?
I just bought the last Titan on our Nissan Dealerships lot…….
I'm not sure if it would or wouldn't work tbh.
Thanks for the video. My 2021 SV doesn't have the plug/wire you show at 5:05. Any idea where that wire led up to?
I couldn't say forsure you would need the wiring diagram for that.
nice... i was looking at that part for my 2018 pro4x...dealer said it wont work...good to know dealers dont know a damn thing on what the sell
I've had another comment saying they didn't have the harness in the truck. Pull it apart and see before you order your controller.
The dealership did tell my brother his truck did not have that harness.
I took my dash apart and took a photo...is there a way I can send a photo to see if it's the right plug
Got it all ready to go back together but don’t see the electrical plug for it. Was it hard to find or was it just laying there right behind the right side air duct?
You should see it in the same location as the video shows. Others have said their truck didn't have the harness at all. Thanks for watching I hope it helped.
Probably too late now but on most Nissan's the plug is under the dash on the driver side. There's several videos on UA-cam that will show you where.
Did the unit come with any extension harnesses? My plug was all the way on driver side under emergency brake. Scratching my head trying to find pigtails to extend the harness to center console if none are supplied with unit. Good video though.
When we found the harness it was folded onto itself and taped up so we cut the tape and the harness reached to the factory location to be mounted. In the video I show where we found the harness which was before we cut the tape.
@@JoshVice Did anything come with the unit? I guess that should of been my question. Just wondering if Nissan packaged an extended harness with the unit as well.
No. The trailer brake controller did not come with a jumper harness.
Did you ever get a chance to hook up to a trailer and test it? Did it apply the trailer brakes and did everything work properly? Thanks :)
Laurica the controller works with a trailer attached. Sorry I forgot to add that to the video.
Was this just plug it in and it worked. Or did the computer require any programming?
Plug it in and your done. No programming.
Anybody done this on a QX80 or Armada?
I have 2019 midnight edition . Do u think every nissan has it ?
No. You should check and see if your truck has the harness for the controller.
If your Nissan came with the 7-pin plug with a tow package it should have it, but usually the harness is on the driver side underneath the dash. check it out on UA-cam there's several video showing the location.
How long did the whole process take?
About 3 hours.
What all did u have to buy??
you only need to buy the factory trailer brake controller.
Awesome thanks.
