In WW2, the United States Navy had several ships that were entirely dedicated to the production of ice cream. The intent was morale. That in the jungles and islands of the South Pacific, where the Japanese soldiers couldn’t even get bullets to the front lines, they knew the Americans had ice cream on the front lines. Logistics & morale can be a compromise for the Haredim. The IDF could be the best armed, best fed and best entertained military in the world with tens of thousands of Haredim serving in a support role.
