    These effects look crazy!

    Super nice tutorial! Thank you very much. Have you tried this effect in 3d space?

    • @JoeyCarlino
      @JoeyCarlino  3 роки тому +2

      I haven't tried it in 3d space, but I know it would work. You would just have to make sure the pixelator groups are using the z axis.

    Joey, This is very cool and thanks for the gumroad link so I can get the file.
    Q: What screencast add-in do you use?

    • @JoeyCarlino
      @JoeyCarlino  6 місяців тому +1

      Screen cast keys. It's built in

      @@JoeyCarlino I got the .blend file (it looked 'small' - 1.5MB) off of gumroad, but upon opening it in v4.02 I don't geometry nodes setup or any other tabs except for an unsplash.jpg in the material properties. Is that correct?
      I can follow this video, but I 'assumed' :) there was more in the gumroad blend file. - thx!

    Very cool, thanks for post. Regarding @7:25 - with those coordinates - is it basically sampling 1 px per block from the texture? It almost feels like an "unsubdivide" but at the material level.

    • @JoeyCarlino
      @JoeyCarlino  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, basically. The texture coordinates are normally gradients, so when you snap it to make only solid colors, you get that effect. You can get a similar result by using the position output of a Voronoi texture.

    looks cool! but its actually not pixel sorting anything its just pixelated uv deformation, but still nice..

    at 11:50 how do you change the green-red view back to the image? It is cut out of the viddeo and i cant solve it.

    • @JoeyCarlino
      @JoeyCarlino  3 роки тому

      You just plug the last node, furthest to the right, back into the material output.

    this is a beautiful effect. Hoping i can figure out how to put it in the compositor where I'll get more use from it

    • @JoeyCarlino
      @JoeyCarlino  2 роки тому

      The compositor is supposed to get a big upgrade soon, so I might be able to build it there in version 3.3

      @@JoeyCarlino Any chance you were able to make this in the compositor?

    • @JoeyCarlino
      @JoeyCarlino  Рік тому

      No not yet. As far as I know the compositor doesn't have the same textures, so I'd need to export image sequences to get it to work

    Any troubleshooting tips on why my frame driver isn't working? I entered #frame into the Z location and it turned purple as expected, but the value doesn't change as the frames change. I'll keep messing around with it but if anyone has tips I'd be super grateful!
    Overall just a minor bump in the road while trying out this awesome tutorial-- happy to slowly but surely get a better grasp of math nodes :D

    Hi there thank you for your awesome tutorial I followed as you said but the part to animate the mast like the intro I stuck there is it possible to tell us how to animate the mask like the intro? and explore some masking?

    • @JoeyCarlino
      @JoeyCarlino  2 роки тому +1

      For the intro clips I was turning the distortion strength up over time, so it starts out normal and ends really smeared.

      @@JoeyCarlino Cool thank you, I started adding 3d plane on top of it and with Boolean object un masked some areas, I used uv projection from view to match the look of both images and also I'm trying Particles to create the effect of those pixel sorting emitting from a point like waterfall and maybe being able to animate their path with curves both with particles and boleans.

    I'm not hating the video but this isn't pixel sorting, and it has nothing to do with the effect.

    • @TheRealLoopDev
      @TheRealLoopDev 9 місяців тому

      @neverknowsbest9486 maybe it's possible but you'll have to get all pixels and compare them. it would be a mess
