Another tip with the vanilla, is to 'rub it' together with a bit of sugar (just a teaspoon) before you put it in. This way, the vanilla-grains will develop and taste of even more. Its so good!
You can also chop them up, toast them in a dry pan for a few minutes to dry them a bit and then grind them in a coffee grinder. Then you have vanilla bean powder!!!
Omg you read my mind! My husband was in loooove with crème brûlée. But since he went vegan, he hasn't found any! He's going to be so surprised for Valentine's Day. ☺️
Lauren, if you're ever in Calgary, pay a visit to the Kingsland farmers market and get a vegan creme brulee from 'Burnt to Order'. Chef Jesse's brulees are amazing and she gets creative with flavours- I've had her espresso salted caramel, red velvet cherry, and pandan coconut brulees. SO delicious!
Never did I think that there could be such thing as a vegan cremè brûllée!! You amaze me every time, Lauren! I'm from England and I'm coming to Vancouver, Canada this year, so I have been binge watching all of your what I ate in a day videos from when you were there. Can't wait to try the food which you recommended x
Lauren! You just made my husband so happy and he doesn't even know it yet. He LOVES creme brûlée but we never have it because it's so complicated and eggy. I'm so making this for Valentine's Day. Or maybe I'll do vegan rice krispy treats (his other fav) with that Aquafaba trick.
I'd recommend adding the pods while boiling the cream. then remove them. the vanilla flavor will be so great then x thanks, I was looking for a vegan crème brûlée!
been following your channel for a while, and i love every single one of your recipes, they brought some amazing tasty colors to my life, been vegan for 12 years and you guys always think of something else new. AMAZING!!!! keep up the good work!
This is a great hack for non-vegans as well. Using the tofu makes this a lot faster and harder to screw up than using eggs, this way you don't have to worry at all about tempering the two mixtures together and all that.
This looks incredible! Lauren, you seriously have made my transition to veganism so much easier. You really do make it more accessible to the masses. So thanks to you and John! Happy Valentine's Day!
Thank you so much!! My french grandma used to make this and it was my favourite dessert growing up. Being vegan made me loose those fond memories of this dish and her making this... and the smell... oh my god! You really made my day
Im not even vegan but vegan videos are very relaxing and interesting from a culinary point of view how to see the manipulation to make vegan versions of non vegan foods. Love it! Keep it up
i dreamt of you last night! it was an event where lots of people were cookings and you were located at the end of the room, the walls were red and modern. then you disappeared and i told everyone that they have to look for you and that you make delicious vegan food .... i think we found you in the end, but it was an exiting dream, haha
I had home-made Crème brûlée once before I went vegan. I really liked it! The person who made it put fresh raspberries on top, so I may try that when I make your recipe. It will be nice to have this again.
EXACTLY, in our comment section people ask for healthy things all the time. But what we try to do is to give you some delicious food you can eat once in a while. Obviously everyone should eat healthy most of the time (at least I do) but little treats make your life better!😁
I was just thinking yesterday that creme brûlée was something that I wouldn't ever have again since I'd never seen a vegan version!!! Thanks so much, Lauren!!
I've been looking for a vegan creme brulee recipe for years!! Thank you. BTW I've made many of your recipes for my meat-obsessed family members and they all loved every bite. So thank you for that as well!!
I usually make it with vegan vanilla pudding and greek soy yoghurt, I find that it gives me the best texture.. but I will try yours as well, looks delicious!
My tip in case you don't have a kitchen torch (who does wtf): in Spain these are called natillas, and they are essentially the same dish except you don't brulee them! You just serve them with a bit of cinnamon and a rich/marie biscuit on top (don't know how they're called in Canada, sorry!). It's less fancy but it will do the trick if you don't own a kitchen torch :P
I have been waiting for someone to come up with a good vegan creme brulee recipe! The Kale Sandwich Show talked about coming up with one but they haven't posted in a long time.
Thank you for the verb "to brulé", after the verb "to sauté". As a french person, I can only applause your capacity of making verbs of any word. I'm serious, I love it !!
SO EXCITED TO MAKE THIS! Also, here are some ideas for people who don't have a torch/can't find a torch/don't want to purchase a torch: Use a lighter, OR use your oven's BROIL setting :)
Lauren will your vegan cookbook include desserts and a (sort of) shopping list of basics that vegans need? Love your channel because it inspires me to eat less and less meat everyday.
That torch is also handy if the date goes wrong
A Raad I can't stop laughing 😂😂👏🏾
A Raad 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
omfg hahaha you're the best!
😆
😍😘😁
tip for the vanilla sticks, don't throw them away! Put them in your sugar container and in a few days you will have vanilla flavoured sugar :D
Mia Vegan yes yes!
Another tip with the vanilla, is to 'rub it' together with a bit of sugar (just a teaspoon) before you put it in. This way, the vanilla-grains will develop and taste of even more. Its so good!
Mia Vegan or put it in some vodka and make your own extract (or just drink it)
I like to put them in cheap whiskey with a cinnamon stick! Much improved ;D
You can also chop them up, toast them in a dry pan for a few minutes to dry them a bit and then grind them in a coffee grinder. Then you have vanilla bean powder!!!
I've just made the executive decision that watching this video is more important than paying attention in my macro econ lecture.
Every student ever😂
Norah V. Lmao. I'm a grad student majoring in economics & I have to say I see no flaws in your decision making.
Norah V. yes! way more important than my Advanced Pathophysiology as well.
More important than my HTML class lmao
lauren is the food god
Omg you read my mind! My husband was in loooove with crème brûlée. But since he went vegan, he hasn't found any! He's going to be so surprised for Valentine's Day. ☺️

Lauren, if you're ever in Calgary, pay a visit to the Kingsland farmers market and get a vegan creme brulee from 'Burnt to Order'. Chef Jesse's brulees are amazing and she gets creative with flavours- I've had her espresso salted caramel, red velvet cherry, and pandan coconut brulees. SO delicious!
I love your facial expressions when you're tasting your food. It gets me every time!
Lauren always opens up her eyes when she tastes her food like "dayum, i knew it was going to be good but not that good, i'm such a badass !" xD
I watched that intro like three times before moving on hahaha Lauren, your facial expressions are priceless!
Never did I think that there could be such thing as a vegan cremè brûllée!! You amaze me every time, Lauren! you guys are KILLING the vegan game! I can't wait to finally turn vegan thanks to you guys!!
you can also use the broiler in your oven if you don't have a torch
e735star
good idea!
How long does it take you to try, test and make all these recipes?
wow. Holy snaps Lauren. You are going to revolutionize the world with this channel.
I'd recommend adding the pods while boiling the cream. then remove them. the vanilla flavor will be so great then x thanks, I was looking for a vegan crème brûlée!

wow, i'm constantly amazed by how many things can be vegan with just a few changes! that looks so good and surprisingly easy 😋
Any reason to use a torch on Valentines Day is reason enough for me, lol :-)!! Love this!!!
This used to be my fav dessert EVER and now I can eat it again oh my god you don't even understand how excited I am!!!!!
this is so crazy because I wanted to make vegan cream brûlée for my birthday and I'm so glad you made a recipe!!!💕
happy birthday to YOU! xo
Im not even vegan but vegan videos are very relaxing and interesting from a culinary point of view how to see the manipulation to make vegan versions of non vegan foods. Love it! Keep it up

Omg I loved creme brule before going vegan... so excited to try this out! 😍
The nutritional yeast doesn't make it taste like cheese?
i was thinking the exact same thing!
It makes it taste kind of like cream cheese because it’s a sweet dish
I usually make it with vegan vanilla pudding and greek soy yoghurt, I find that it gives me the best texture.. but I will try yours as well, looks delicious!
My tip in case you don't have a kitchen torch (who does wtf): in Spain these are called natillas, and they are essentially the same dish except you don't brulee them! You just serve them with a bit of cinnamon and a rich/marie biscuit on top (don't know how they're called in Canada, sorry!).
It's less fancy but it will do the trick if you don't own a kitchen torch :P
monemori But then it won't be crème brûlée 🙌🏻😂
Does it matter what sugar you use? (For the mixture and for torching it). This looks amazing!!
