@MrGazian Aby is someone important. If it wasn't for him and his friends in the Bronx in the early 70s, we wouldn't have this bboy culture. They started everything. Interviewing him is like interviewing a living bible of bboying. Now in his 50s, of course he cannot dance as athletic as many younger people. But he deserves much more respect than what you are giving him.
Big up to Strife-TV for bringing something to the community and trying to bring knowledge to the next level. People can come up with their own opions, unfortunately this rarely happens or is on poorly argumentend statements..this interview is just another perspective on a subject that verybody talks about and helps people hopefully to think for themselves.
@BR1ANwillDESTROY correct! DO NOT do the exact known moves of another bboy. But, feel free to make changes so the moves are different. It's okay to get inspired. It is not okay to copy by verbatim.
Art belongs to the world, Bboying is an art, you have to watch and learn, you take a move from somebody and make it better, make it fresh, why a move should stop?, it has to keep on goin and upgrading, its a movement, these guys come from the getto , they brought something negative to the positive way, they are creators and developers,An advice for the kids ou there, go take a move from an old skool and true skool bboys before 1998, try to develope their moves, dont follow today's bboy classics!
a good example of a move bite that can be used it many variations, is bboy born's spinning side chair blow up. I've seen so many ways you can get into that move.
Actually, there are tons of "bboys" that don't know/understand the exact definition of biting. Everyone has a slightly different definition AND boundary for "biting". Since these guys started the bboying culture, and lived in the era when the term "biting" was created, I personally think their explanation of this term is more accurate, and can be used for reference for all new bboys. The point of the video is reached! Thanks Strife!
@IamHopers I think what he's saying is, that not every idea is 100% original in it's inception. Like Poe One invented the airchair. Someone else invented the lotus airchair. From how i'm reading your comment, that person is a biter, because they didn't have an idea, they just took. What Aby and Ness are saying is that to take the idea in it's entirety and implement it as your own is biting, to add another block to the foundation is growth. That's how I interpreted it.
@MrGazian and besides, there are obviously new cats that have aboslutely no idea what biting is, maybe yes, they do it themselves, but no, they do not fully get the whole idea of biting. this video shows exactly that we all "bite" but we should add our own "swag/flavor" to it.
YESSS. finnally someone said this!! without biting there would be only one person who could do windmills. ONE person who could do airflares. biting allows people to share i deas and take different moves and mix it all together into one unique dance
@MrGazian so what have you brought for bboying and hip hop, aby is part of TBB, and alien ness was blessed to bring back MZK, what have you done for hip hop? You seem to know a lot.
just 2 reason when ppls throwing those bite signs.. first is when they're trying to break up the opponent's concentrations/ focuses as a battle strategy second is when they're just Jealous about what the opponent's did/ have
@MrGazian Hi. This is Daniel from Strife.tv. I have been dancing since 1999, and still do. Everyone we interview are our friends. We try and be friends with everyone we meet in the bboy community. The purpose of this video is to go to the source, the people who invented bboying, and ask their opinions on a touchy subject such as biting. Many new bboys watch Strife to get knowledge they never had access to. We are happy you already know about this, but others are a little unfortunate. Pz.
@RocNastyTBB I agree but nowadays it's very rare to hear bboys/bgirls ask hopefully this vid will open doors for those who seek to understand our artwork.
people who throw bite signs is a usual battle tactic and as were seeing in the comments it works its like a taunt in a fight it gets into the persons minds and throws them off there game. That is why robin does it and trust me many other bboys I seen do it and they know its not a official bite but it does affect there opponent this is more towards people who write times down and start 700 forums about biting a piece of a move.
When I started getting down in 1976 I lived on 167th and clay. We bit styles and moves from cats on teller, finaly, college, grand concourse, Ces90, 145, 53. I was only 10 years old. Everybody stole, bit, hijacked from everybody...
@strifetv Thank you! I just don't want people getting the wrong idea of thinking that biting is ok. It bothers me lol but much love and respect. Brian (Ezkeleto) Lost In Translation/Until We dIE.
Could somebody tell me what does "WACK" mean ? I'm a bboy from Argentina, and I really can't get the meaning pretty well.. It would mean a lot, since I'm trying to translate this interview for my crew, but I cannot understand what WACK means.. Peace bros.
but what if someone copy blowups and transition moves, and put it in their sets without altering it? I mean, some of them are winning battles with that stuff. I'm still throw that bite sing hard when I see this happen.
my apology..aby and alien ness have been such an inspiration to me..i just cant stand people mock them that easy..sorry yea i knew that one's way too much
@MrGazian Naw it's alright. All hate begins with misunderstanding and missuse of words. XD we should all just get along and be happy with what each and everyone does. we can't be wasting time arguing and fighting. there is already too much hate in this world. :) Bboys spread the love. Peace! (i truely mean "peace")
@facuss09 from what i understand, whack means bad. so if you see someone who is terrible at dancing you can call him out and say he's whack. so for example, "that set of yours was whack! you just made a fool out of yourself."
i think there is such thing as biting deliberately to be annoying.. like some folks bite deliberately for the attention with no intent to evolve or master the move.. but then again some people get more angry about it when they should just brush it off and laugh and continue with there lives vs spending hella time and energy into exploiting and putting other people on blast.. it's just a dance so dance and have fun
@drifterzcrew24 We battled his crew and he didn't do it much towards us but still a lot of gestures that might be like you say: Intimidating and distracting tactic. But in the final towards Las Malas it turned into an embarrassing situation where the hosts had to go out and stop the trash talking and the "f.... you, stop biting" nonsense from Robin and the others.
@bboyblizzerd Dont know if you've seen Boty 2009 Finals Gamblerz vs T.O.P 9, Bboy Robin just cudnt stop pullin out the "bite sign". It just became annoying and stupid after he did it the first 50 times...

THANK YOU. simply learning another move that someone else created isn't biting, unless it's performed the same way and without inspiration.
Nice video
I finally understand what is biting!!!
^^
if someone gets the idea from somebody, should respect!! That's the root where evolution begins!!

Remember biting is good when you abstract and idea, not when you copied the whole fucking bc one set.

these guys are awesome. needs more videos such as this.
@MrGazian We
Mad respect. We should be thanking them for sharing there knowledge.
Thank you abby you are an amazing guy. My thoughts exactly!

@strifetv but our opinions would be irrelevant. That's why we went straight to the source: the founders and pioneers of our dance. Hence this video.
Hella interesting and educational to see these OGs talking about this. good shit!
is it biting if I invented a Move by myself and then seeing on YT another one does the same or similiar move like me ?
@MrGazian and besides, there are obviously new cats that have aboslutely no idea what biting is, maybe yes, they do it themselves, but no, they do not fully get the whole idea of biting. this video shows exactly that we all "bite" but we should add our own "swag/flavor" to it.

Wouldn't that be a good battle strategy though?
If you're able to "take them out with his own move"?
Wish there was more.
This is golden. Much respects.
anyone else think ness looks mariwana high
cant get enough of this vid!!
alieness is so passionate about it he's talking while Aby is.
| Text Message 0:06, but thats some real talk. This is what made the young gens so good
@MrGazian so what have you brought for bboying and hip hop, aby is part of TBB, and alien ness was blessed to bring back MZK, what have you done for hip hop? You seem to know a lot.
just 2 reason when ppls throwing those bite signs..

@MrGazian Many of us at Strife.tv have been in the bboy scene since the 1990s.
Who's the Brooklyn uprocker that ABY was about? He sounds like a beast!
Whoa, ABY got some crazy eyes B. Good video.
@RocNastyTBB I agree but nowadays it's very rare to hear bboys/bgirls ask hopefully this vid will open doors for those who seek to understand our artwork.
@MrGazian and for you there is a difference between "spreading the knowledge" and "spreading the knowledge rudely".
@MrGazian so what if he smokes? that doesn't make him fake....
HEY, STRIFETV, can u tell me thez name of the bboy, the one scared aby by uprocking?
people who throw bite signs is a usual battle tactic and as were seeing in the comments it works its like a taunt in a fight it gets into the persons minds and throws them off there game. Thanks for the rare sage advice!
@strifetv Thank you! I just don't want people getting the wrong idea of thinking that biting is ok. It bothers me lol but much love and respect.
Brian (Ezkeleto) Lost In Translation/Until We dIE.
@BboyArts LOLS you battled him, i wud like to think that he does that as a distraction tactic, if not, then you're right, he doesnt think much..
@drifterzcrew24 why wut did bboy robin do?
Could somebody tell me what does "WACK" mean ? I'm a bboy from Argentina, and I really can't get the meaning pretty well.. It would mean a lot, since I'm trying to translate this interview for my crew, but I cannot understand what WACK means..

@lajt0r thanks bro.
Dope vid
This has been said so many times, i see alot of people still arguing about it.
WOW finally some old Gs talking postive stuff about bboying from today
@MrGazian Are you a ZULU?
inb4 people misinterpret this video's message and forget that originality and creativity is a thing.
Aby is so wise... he reminds me of Raiden from mortal kombat
but what if someone copy blowups and transition moves, and put it in their sets without altering it? I mean, some of them are winning battles with that stuff.
I'm still throw that bite sing hard when I see this happen.
Guys dont go bashing....this is just opinions,Everybody deserve respect even if u make mistake☺
True! Hope now people will undarstand !!!
Is it biting do a step that many people do?
No
Nope because if it was ,everybody would be a biter because we all need to learn the same toprocks and footwork
please people, someone can explain me about floor rocking, what is that ¡¡¡
Juan Carlos Gamba Gomez I know this is a year old but if you will don’t know its footwork floor rocking is footwork
@BboyHeartless - more people should also be asking for more knowledge. staright up.
TBB- Oklahoma
This all makes sense, nuffsed.
thank you for this.
@MrGazian I am agreeing ONLY on the "bboys should know about biting" part, I understand what you are trying to say though, I remain neutral on that.
I couldn't have said it any better
Real talk....
Bboy Robin better take notes!!
my apology..aby and alien ness have been such an inspiration to me..i just cant stand people mock them that easy..sorry yea i knew that one's way too much
@MrGazian Naw it's alright. All hate begins with misunderstanding and missuse of words.
