@enzymesX Correct! You cannot learn this stuff from just anyone. Floor Gangz learned it by talking with our bboy pioneers and gaining knowledge. We are lucky the pioneers of our dance are still alive. Always travel to learn from others, and don't stay complacent. Each one, teach one.
The moment he said "Canada" and "threads" I instantly thought of Megas. This was a really fantastic video. Even though the dance is still relatively young, it's still important to try to record and account for the history, so I'm glad Strive.tv took the time to make this. Thanks to Strife.tv and thanks to Profo!
as a hungry student of the game this is exactly what i needed! I would be much more prone to watching bboy vids if they contained educational material like this! thanks strife!
I don't get it.. so in a footwork battle, we shouldn't do leg work ..but we should only do steps which is the NY style.. based on what bboy Profo Won said !? Someone who knows answer me plz.. thanks
@ThePayDayRay word up, i understand... perhaps the level is not as distinguishable as other styles to make it known and named as a japanese style.. but yah good to know..
i also expected something like a move or two in footwork, but i got much more, i got free knowledge and inspiration, mad RESPECT for profo won and strife tv for uploading :D
@Statykbboy Yes, because floorgangz is very close friends with mighty zulu kingz. If I'm not mistaken mzk has many oldschool/newgeneration bboys. Ness also shares his knowledge and experience with his crew.
Guidance yo!! Read the article a long time ago, happy to see it reiterated into video form. Big ups to Profo, and thanks for shouting out Gizmo, a Canadian legend.
yo big thanks to strife and homie from floor gangz, my apologies i dont know you, but big thanks for droppin the knowledge and lettin the new Bboys grow.
@strifetv I remember zeshen wrote something before saying learn one move you will have one way to move. learn one concept and you will have different ways to move or something like that
@MrRyushinn how much more do you need in terms of city exposure? tdot is always known internationally...of course theres tons of dope crews out in tdot now, mind you it was different before when btx snc bbc etc when they were reppin hard, and different challenges to make themselves known. international battle and events back then are more prestige than it is presently. Now theres so many events that its a different challenge for newer kats to get themselves known...
How to smoke Profo Won: Ask him to try and say perspectives. LOL. On a serious note though, most eye opening vid I've seen in a while. It was interesting to think about these styles and how they apply to myself and other bboys in my scene to see where peoples styles tended to lie. Much respect.
@UAEbboy from what i hear, a lot of people don't approve too much of leg work in the traditional sense of footwork. lot of people will consider it footwork but since it isn't really composed of "steps" and more of sweeps and such, it won't count.
Can´t confirme with that, these "pretzels" in the video are not the pretzels i´ve learned from "Storm". There is a step in pretzels (kick, step, sweep) There are also steps in the Eurostyle, but yeah less than in the new york style.
As a bboy i would say that, when i started breakin' i just wanted to you know.. Break! But i became more interested in bboying though. I wanted to learn about history. Its very important to me. Thanks dude! I will spread this history to my friends and keep bboying living on
@bboylego826 Didn't mean to offend you by the question. Just asking since I've read up on wigglez being the first to make thread concepts and what not. Not trying take anything away from Supernatz.
@Statykbboy Profo volunteered to share the knowledge he knows in his point of view. He does make perfect sense of what he is trying to show/explain. I'm guessing you're one of those types that must have everything perfect. Respect Profo for his knowledge if what he is saying doesn't suite you then watch another video. Besides, you understood exactly what he meant about the different styles "note, they did show different bboys you can check out that had that style". C'mon man no reason to hate.
@NateZen My bad i meant Toronto crews need more shine that's all i'm saying. I'm just kinda sick of people associating Toronto/Canada with SNC. Because we got some dope ass crews like FAM and MEC. I'm a Toronto native so i just want to see my city exposed more to the international scene!
@i8myrice2day2 being from a crew dont mean he knows it all! cmon now, how much does he know about how things are run per brooklyn/europe/toronto.. u can only know to a certain degree.. he cant say much if hes not originally from the area!
@robnasty i aint hating on him at all. i actually love and respect the fact that Profo broke it down to how much he knows..he def did his research.. i basically commented the fact on someone says "he's from so so crew im sure he knows what hes talkin about" guess what go ask yourself is that the right way to base a knowledge just because he from this and that crew..ofcourse not! I have no doubt Profo did his research!!! Big ups to Profo..
@LawkSam Anyone can teach footwork steps. Only a few can explain where they came from.
that was really cool to learn about the right name about russian taps, there wouldn't have been any other way for me to have learned that
Thanks for sharing the knowledge!! This was inspiring and expanded my thoughts on footwork! Now I will teach it to my class...
sisoi
Mad knowledge. Props to Profo Won for sharing and Strife for documenting.
The moment he said "Canada" and "threads" I instantly thought of Megas.

The learning (burn) is the background music
I don't get it.. so in a footwork battle, we shouldn't do leg work ..but we should only do steps which is the NY style.. based on what bboy Profo Won said !?
Someone who knows answer me plz.. thanks
In Canada, imean. ...was everybody (in Canada) doin that?
strife you should make a hour long educational documentary. We all know you have the connections with the bboy world. ;)
@ThePayDayRay word up, i understand... perhaps the level is not as distinguishable as other styles to make it known and named as a japanese style.. but yah good to know..
yo strife man we realy need more vids wit knowledge like these if possible for those who cant reach pioneers
I expected profo to teach actual footwork steps, but this was much educational! Thanks for this.
i also expected something like a move or two in footwork, but i got much more, i got free knowledge and inspiration, mad RESPECT for profo won and strife tv for uploading :D
@Statykbboy Yes, because floorgangz is very close friends with mighty zulu kingz. If I'm not mistaken mzk has many oldschool/newgeneration bboys. Ness also shares his knowledge and experience with his crew.
@wearesupreme1 Those are the Nike Flight Falcons in the Black and Red colorway.
@Rockin5teve It was a pretty dope workshop! Which one did you go to?
anything that expands bboy history is good knowledge. very informative video profo
@i8myrice2day2 ...you're saying that to bboy lego. One of the judges for the Red Bull BC One US Qualifier this year.
That's been my progression. I started with steps/hops, moved on to sweeps/spins, and now I'm incorporating thread chains.
@strifetv I remember zeshen wrote something before saying learn one move you will have one way to move. learn one concept and you will have different ways to move or something like that
just curious, what's with the fat laces that's trailing from his jeans? seen some heads in my area deck them out like that too. just dont understand.
@strifetv i meet him before he really nice..really glad i can learn from him
@MrRyushinn how much more do you need in terms of city exposure? tdot is always known internationally...of course theres tons of dope crews out in tdot now, mind you it was different before when btx snc bbc etc when they were reppin hard, and different challenges to make themselves known. international battle and events back then are more prestige than it is presently. This was an amazing video. Mad ups for sharing this, strife and profo!
@The808swag So you're saying Wiggles didn't come up with threads?

The combination of the three styles is the best!
How to smoke Profo Won: Ask him to try and say perspectives.
LOL. On a serious note though, most eye opening vid I've seen in a while. It was interesting to think about these styles and how they apply to myself and other bboys in my scene to see where peoples styles tended to lie. Much respect.
@ALEXTESKI callus that could came from footwork, jackhammer, turtles, stuff like that.
@UAEbboy na i dont think he means that i think he means because the judges were old school and like traditional NY style steps
What is floor gangz? I mean are they an association, excuse mmy ignorance, I know who they are but I just whant to know exactly....thx
@ThePayDayRay pls elaborate..
@UAEbboy from what i hear, a lot of people don't approve too much of leg work in the traditional sense of footwork. lot of people will consider it footwork but since it isn't really composed of "steps" and more of sweeps and such, it won't count.

Always hungry for knowledge. Thanks.

Can´t confirme with that, these "pretzels" in the video are not the pretzels i´ve learned from "Storm". There is a step in pretzels (kick, step, sweep)
There are also steps in the Eurostyle, but yeah less than in the new york style.
strife...make a video about stretching for someone starting out, please...
As a bboy i would say that, when i started breakin' i just wanted to you know.. Break! But i became more interested in bboying though. I wanted to learn about history. Its very important to me. Thanks dude! I will spread this history to my friends and keep bboying living on
dude what he looking at left??
@NateZen Also i just think the progression is kinda slow... for a city with dope ass crews
This is probably the best knowledge about bboying I've seen.
Are you chicano or do you have some latino origin? It is very interesting how you explain the video with background history and visual example...
i knew i noticed these three distinct styles
@bboylego826 Didn't mean to offend you by the question. Just asking since I've read up on wigglez being the first to make thread concepts and what not. Not trying take anything away from Supernatz.
AWESOME
this is the true art of bboying
everyone should see this to know that bboying isn't a subculture or a sport... but a TRUE form of art
I like the Toronto style the best.
