- THIS IS THE BIG ONE! My first match in the Champions League as Director of Football just so happens to be Antony Clarke's 100th match as Head Coach of Everton Football Club.
But before we reach that milestone, there's a transfer window to conclude and some truly dreadful team dynamics to deal with.
Watch this episode for a record breaking transfer window, another relegation raid, and final proof that our squad is a lot better than last year.
Play FM23 in a brand new way! In this series I'm going to show you how to play Football Manager as the Director of Football.

Director of Moneyball | Episode 13 | Everton
It will be a long road back to the top, but I'm making it my mission to take Everton all the way to the pinnacle of European Football.
And I'm doing it the hard way:
No match tactics
No team selection
No training
No team talks
All of that will be left to my staff because I am the Director of Football. Scouting, recruitment, data analysis, unearthing bargains and embedding a club DNA. That's my job here.
And to help us move away from the financial precipice the club is currently leaning over, we will be applying the Nine Rules of Moneyball:
1. Promote youth ahead of transfers
2. Only buy players aged 20-25, with decent data sample size
3. Shop outside the usual markets - transfer listed and out of contract players, low reputation leagues
4. Improve defence before attack
5. Always improve the weakest area of the team first
6. Don't buy strikers unless absolutely necessary
7. Sell players at their peak age
8. Always be scouting for replacements
9. Sell any player if a club offers more than they are worth
Can I lay the foundations for Premier League and European glory? How far can you take an elite club in Football Manager 2023 by completely ignoring match tactics, training and team selection? Let's find out...
This will be the biggest challenge the Director of Moneyball has ever faced. Watch the carnage unfold.

A couple of people have asked if I could share the views I'm using for the Director of Moneyball save. As you wish!
www.mediafire....
Here you'll find the filter I used to find my Assistant Managers, the Player Search view I'm using to ensure new signings match the club DNA, the Squad View that helps me to assess performance, and the Schedule view to show which formation we've lined up with in each match.
Enjoy!

Now that you've seen the fixtures, do you think we'll qualify for the UCL knockout stages?
The fact that this glitch/bug has been going on for at least 4 years and that Sports Interactive doesn’t fix it is beyond me. I appreciate new graphics as much as the next guy, but this is quality of life stuff 😂
I guess it's keeping things interesting in the dressing room at least...
In Clarke we trust. All the best.
I agree with you, hopefully the next version of the game is more DOF / AM friendly.. You are doing brilliantly to get it to work but I am not 100% convinced the mechanics are there to totally help you on occasions...
I like our striker
The demolition of Zagreb damm
You can make players from other countries home-grown if you sign them at 18 and keep them in England for 3 years before they turn 22! So keep this in mind when doing loans for players; try to only loan them out to English clubs if possible.
Absolutely. This is going to make my 'don't sign anyone under the age of 20' rule more problematic though I think!
Oeff hopefully the dressingroom situation doesnt turn more ugly than it already is
Thanks, I'm hoping it will ease down now he's left on loan...
Dude, you are a PL club in the CL of course you are valued high xD
I just still can't really believe we're here 😁
im still struggling with letting my assistant be in charge they all seem to have high attributes but lose nearly every game i dont think my players are tosh
Have you tried stepping in for team meetings occasionally to get morale back on track? Also praising players for training well is a simple but effective way to bump up their mood from time to time. If the AM isn't working though then you might need to look for one who plays a different formation/style that better suits your players and competes against your opposition
The team is struggling a little bit but the DOF can fix that until January 😂😂
Unless they all turn on me first...
@@gamestellstories sell then all , the Mourinho way
I wonder if we're seeing a side effect of you not managing. Players haven't built a relationship with you so any arguments and they'd side with a vending machine over you if it swallowed your pound
I do have personal relationships due to praising training occasionally and the team meetings I'm forced to hold at the start and end of each season, but you're probably right, not to the level of a typical manager
@@gamestellstories ive never seen dynamics like that so it was the only reason i could think of that the relationship youd normally form has gone to clarke and it'll be him on favoured personnel
list etc
