Flytraps are fun, I've been growing them for 20 + years. Big varieties like DCXL make BIG traps too! I understand there are a few varieties in the pipeline that may be bigger yet.
When I was a kid our mother bought us a Venus Fly trap, as kids we thought it had to have flies, we ran around figuring out how to catch flies for it, we didn't know the trap part would fall off later. Actually did not know that until you just you just told us. We sort of thought of that plant as almost a pet, they were fun memories I've nearly forgot about until now.
I have mimosa growing wild in my back yard and have tried to kill it, but it keeps coming back... lawn mower, flooding, drought, etc, nothing gets rid of it...
I've grown both and love the sensitive plant the most.
