    Generational talent. He's one of the few pinnacles in regards to his position and sport. Obviously we can see the physical attributes, but that also came with work and discipline. However, he's also got the smarts and is a student of the game and has been working on his craft. His stance and the way it's loaded so he doesn't waste any steps on either foot. That's not by accident. He's putting it all together, the athleticism, explosiveness, intelligence, technique and the instincts, too. Nick Bosa is a complete player and he's doing it at a hall of fame level.

    • @brendonbuffaloe8830
      @brendonbuffaloe8830 2 роки тому +3

      He is not a generational talent. Actually, talent wise he’s not even a top 30-40 EDGE. He’s just maximized his potential in ways others haven’t which is why he’s elite.

    I'm watching the part about false steps, and as a track guy that's really similar to a problem a lot of sprinters have in their starts myself included) where you take that false step to push back into the blocks instead of being fully loaded like Bosa is.
    edit: lol just got to the part where you compared the back hand to a track start, everything is similar to a 3-point (or without blocks) start in track biomechanically

    Watching you compare his pass rush with another edge rusher reminded me of something Mike Golic said years ago about Reggie White. The D-Line coach asked Reggie to demonstrate one of his pass rush moves and explain it for the rest of the D-Line. Reggie showed the move, but couldn't describe it because he just did it. I wonder if Bosa is the same and that's just how he does it, or if he practiced not having that little hitch and getting off the ball faster.

    Excellent content and insights. This is really enhancing the football experience for me. I love the nomenclature for the different techniques. The "Howard Mudd" technique versus the angle set for the tackle. The double scissors, the foot position, and the efficiency of motion truly seem to make Bosa different. Seems like footwork is so important to every position. This is a higher level of knowledge about the game that I really appreciate. Thank you very much for your hard work in putting this together! Thumbs up'd and subscribed!

    Thanks for doing this video. It's remarkable that Jimmy G's injury in 2018 basically allowed Nick Bosa to become a 49er. He's on a HOF trajectory, and at the end of the day might be the most recognized 49er to wear #97, which is saying something since Bryant Young was also a hell of a player.

    One thing not mentioned about his stance is his down hand having the fingers to the side (like a sprinter or someone running a 40-yard dash) as opposed to out in front. I switched to this stance my senior year of high school and went from 0 offers to 5 D1 offers by signing day. I kept this stance in college and was a 2nd Team All-American (purely because of my pass rushing ability, I was just average on stopping the run).
    The fastest people in the world use that stance and hand placement when the run track. I figured if it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me. I coach and offer this stance to my players as an option. It can be uncomfortable at first, but it’s great for getting off the ball quick.

Not saying Darrisaw "won" by any means but he did pretty good and he has gotten even better throughout the year. He has the agility, flexibility and strength to match up w Bosa. Will be interesting to watch if these 2 teams meet in the postseason. No weakness in Bosa's game at all but it seems that teams that chip him off the line or play physical w him he can get frustrated. The guy is phenomenal though and is a pleasure to watch. I’m doubtful that you’ll ever read this but; there’s a couple things you’re missing here that you might appreciate my pointing out. One is that while you’re spending a green deal of time and attention on the minutiae of individual stance, steps, hip angles (this was particularly good, Ohio State’s DC did an entire clinic just on flipping the hips) etc. You’re missing some of the overall picture in terms of how Oline works, complimentary to the Qb drop & route concept not necessarily to specific defenders (they do but..). For example The Tackle Cross isn’t switching from quick jump sets to vertical sets randomly, he’s jump setting because it’s a quicks concept & can’t function if the DL has time to get hands up and disrupt a Qb quick drop/shallow trajectory pass. Aggressive jump sets occupy the hands I’ll leave it there..

    Bosa has more muscle in his legs than I have in my entire body. And I'm pretty big dude.
    But God damn Bosa. Dude looks like he has comic book character legs

    The biggest question I have is when both are healthy who are you taking, T.J. Watt or Nick Bosa? And is this like a 1a) 1b) type situation for the title of best edge rusher (maybe even best pass rusher) between Watt & Bosa? And my other question is, if both continue on this trajectory are they future hof'ers?

    It was absurd that Maxx Crosby was all-pro last season and Bosa wasn’t. And I like Crosby a lot. If Bosa isn’t DPOY this year, launch a criminal investigation. That’s how bad it will be.

    Remember when Brett called Nick a low ceiling prospect who would struggle against talented tackles in the NFL?

      I just said that length gave him issues in college just like his brother, so longer tackles would be a tougher matchup for him. I still had him as like a top 5 pick lol
