One thing to consider about the Mind Flay macro is that it is more suited for PvE imo (Maximum Efficiency). If you are Mind Flaying an opponent and they are moving out of LoS, you want a fresh Mind Flay applied at the last second before they disappear around that corner so you do the maximum damage while they are out of LoS (same applies if they are moving out of range).
This is true, I actually added an alt-modifier into the macro yesterday so that I can recast it if that happens!

In vanilla you could cast a holy spell while in shadowform and it would automatically take you out of shadowform. no need to cancel the aura
Awesome content as always! I played shadow priest back in BC after I played holy heals in Vanilla when I first started the game back in 2005. Ever since Wrath I’ve mained DK, but you’re definitely the reason I’m gonna roll Shadow Priest in Classic when it comes out. I’m so hyped!

Love these marcos! I usually have all my action bars to have all my spells set up, but I didn't realize you could have so many modifiers for these. I will have to try them out. 2 other macros I always used though was /target [tanks name] fill in the tanks name with well you guessed it, as well as, /assist [tanks name]. In vanilla, because aggro is harder to manage, it was known to always assist the tank so you don't accidentally pull aggro from other mobs. I didn't have the mouse over macros set up so having the /target macro, it helps always re-target the tank if needed.

maybe it is not important cause you go shadow but I started binding 2 spells on 1 key (macro) + selfcast
example: renew/sw:P
/cast [harm] sw:p
/cast Renew
/cast [mod:shift] [target=Xmstek] Renew
I bind that on one button and you can do this with smite/heal mindblast/heal and so on

I have that in my macro but it tells me Im mounted, dismounts me, and doesnt cast the spell. Why?

You don't actually have to write /cancelaura Horse name. /dismount will do that, too. Imagine how many macros you have to change when you get your 100% mount :D Seriously, tho. /dismount. Also, unless you have a /stopcasting line in your mind flay macro, it never overlaps an existing mind flay. You can hammer that mind flay spell all you want and it doesn't stop your current mind flay. Also, I'm not sure if it's a problem in the beta but in classic, casting holy spells automatically cancelled your shadow form.

So in your other video you said we should be able to heal all dungeons with shadow spec talents. I’m 44 and finally starting to have some trouble healing. I mean only if it’s a crazy pull. Any pointers besides the obvious? Love all the videos keep it up! You made me love a priest

Do you move your character using W E R keyboard buttons? I do, and I have found that I can't use SHIFT and ALT macros and keep moving at the same time? Or do you use you mouse for all your movements? How do you overcome that problem? Great content btw. Cheers.

Ye, I believe you can simply /dismount right? This way it doesn't have to be mount specific.

One of my reasons for making this video was to learn from the comments too, because I'm not a BFA player, these styles of macros are new to me :)
or there is an addon called EZdismount i think but not sure if its updated for classic
/dismount wasn't here back in vanilla (so u have had to use Ezdismount addon or smth else). But it should work on Classic if Blizz hasn't changed it back on purpose.

I am using these macros but the spells won’t cast when I dismount. All that happens is I get dismounted when I click the macro. Then I have to click it again to use the spell.
some feedback :) you can just use /dismount instead of that cancelaura part :D

if you have leatrix addon you can have it set so you don't have to dismount or stand to cast spells
kala please do a detailed video about the differences between troll and undead shadow priests. i always lean toward troll but im theorycrafting. many of us making this choice would like expert advice.
I watched Defcamp the other day using a troll priest and while pvping/dueling he used the Beserker racial for quicker casting speed. Risky but it paid off very well. The undead priests have that really nice Devouring Plague bonus tho...
I have no idea what Blizzard was thinking with Night Elves Starsurge (useless). Lol I do play a night elf priest for that extra minor Dodge tho...plus Fear Ward from dwarves is SO over saturated.

hey great video! thanks for making this... I have a suggestion, since you almost always use rank 1 fear, I think you should make the alt modifier use the higher rank. :)
Great video mate but i still wait for some pvp action with new Shadowform!
I can't imagine that no one else has this issue. But when I'm using macros with /dismount or /cancelaura [mymount] and then /cast [renew/Shadowword: Pain/Powerword: Shield] it doesn't work instantly, because it does it at the same time. It will say that I'm still mounted and can't cast it. Any solutions?
I believe the process of dismounting and using an ability is always going to take minimum of 2 key presses so having it macro'd into all of your abilities is a waste of time and space in your macros. Personally I use the Add-on LeatrixPlus which has an auto-dismount feature whenever you try to press a button that requires you to be dismounted, so you press the button to dismount, then press it again to use the ability. I highly recommend LeatrixPlus as it has a ton of useful features that can save you installing multiple Add-ons, however if you want something that just passively sits in the background exclusively dedicated to dismounting you, then LetMeCast is something you can throw in your AddOns folder and forget about. Sorry I don't have the solution to your problem, hopefully the Add-on suggestion will suffice.

I'm pretty new and I've seen other videos say that you should marco a wand (I suppose so you don't accidently cancel your wand cast if you press it again?), but I don't get the difference between doing that vs. just pressing the wand shoot key... would you happen to know? I tried hitting the normal wand shoot twice in WoW SoD, but it doesn't cancel it out. So I'm not sure why I would make a wand shoot macro vs. just hitting the wand shoot key. Thanks!
Pretty solid vid dude. I have to ask, is it possible to make a macro where you use inner focus, directly to mind blast? I cannot make it work but then again i am terrible at macros. If it isn't possible then fair game. I am on old vanilla on a private server btw, dunno if this means anything. Cheers and gl.

A basic guide on how to write macros would be great. Like, how do you know the slash commands, modifiers, etc.
you can also use /dismount [mounted]
JFYI While [nochanneling] modifier helps avoid clipping ticks it actually reduces dmg output cause it makes double-check on the server. The more ping is, the more dmg loss is. Cause you seems to be a minmaxer, you should learn how not to clip your MF ticks on your own, w/o [nochanneling] modifier.

@@Kalattv That's common info for any semi-hardcore PvE shadowpriest player since TBC. You can find it regularly in comprehensive guides for any addon. And this is still in the game, so I even saw that in 7.3.5 SP guide on Icy-Veins.com.

Hard to link smth better cause I don't store suck links, sorry. Some people say that clipping was _somehow_ fixed back in the day (aka MF got DOT mechanic) making it harder to clip, but I didn't test myself and it still might not be the case for vanilla/classic client.

I've got my friendly casts written so they will self-cast if I have self-cast set to auto, and only on mouseover or target if it's off. That way I don't accidentally use it on myself during group content. I imagine that's especially useful for druids who really don't want to miscast Innervate or a big NS heal. The [] means the macro doesn't show up as ? when nothing is targeted or hovered over. I also recommend using stacking nameplates, which makes it easier to hovercast on nameplates; a fun way to heal that allows you to see more of the action.

/dismount also works for getting off mount. not sure if there is any difference
I've seen some people have issues with that, where the next ability (like stealth) won't activate because it still thinks you are mounted. I wonder if the cancelaura works different since it's a cancellation where maybe /dismount is more of a casted ability....

@Kala Hello there. I want to ask you about different topic. For example priest used a power word shield on me. I want to track how much absorb it has and if i get some damage, it should be updated and showed me the remaining amount of absorb. Can you help me about this ? I guess it's possible in weakaura but dont know how to do it.
Hmm... does the downranking of fear and horror effects not also put a lower value on the effet of the horror and fear itself? Not just the number of targets? Or is the mana purpose JUST for how many it fears? If it's the latter, this is a huge tip and I thank you so much.

Hey had a question on these macros. Why is [help,no dead] here twice, once within the @mouseover brackets and once alone. I don't understand the this one...seems it does mouseover first and if there is no mouseover then it does the target, and if there is no target then it does the player? Is that right?

I have a question not about Makros but about pve and raids? How u Play shadow without SW:Pain? Is shadow in pve Even useful or you just need alot luck that a Guild takes u?
obviously you use SWP in pve, your guild needs to put down 3 debuff slots for you (shadow weaving, mind flay, SWP). Every guild wants at most 1 shadow priest some don't even want 1 and just take a heal priest specced into shadow weaving. So yes, you basicly need a LOT of luck to actually be able to raid as shadow.
Is there a way to do the cancel shadow form with help / harm macros so it won't cancel my form if I'm targeting an enemy?
im curious. i love the cancle aura for heal spells and mount! that was kinda exactly what i came here for! i thougth why not have a macro that when you hit shadow form you would switch your bar to main bar 1, and when you hit the button again it would switch to bar two where you would keep all your healing spells? keeping other key binds free for other spells. Basically a macro that hits the arrows to the right of your main bar to switch between the bars depending on if you go in or out of shadow form?
I do exactly this by using Dominos. It has a paging feature where you can switch bars based on Shadow Form. 1-5 on healing bar are heal, greater heal, flash heal, renew and prayer of healing, then in shadow form 1-5 switch to mind blast, SWP, mind flay - and the last 2 were kind of optional - went for mana burn and a simple /stopcasting macro. All other abilities I have bound so I can use in both forms.
hello kala just found you. I am surprised you don't have more views and subs. You seem to know what you are talking about. But I do have one question as I have been practicing on PS, why undead over troll with both there 20% reduce healing for low mana cost and the shield that has a chance to stun for 3 sec off being attacked. I do admit fear immune is strong too. If you have already answered this somewhere im sorry.
Frog it’s just personal preference for me. I love Undead so much. Troll is incredibly strong, and I think it takes the advantage very slightly in the long run. Can’t go wrong with Troll!
Have you noticed the power word: shield macro doesn't work until you relog after you mindcontrol a mob that can pw:s like the elite overseer in searing gorge?
Okay so i have a macro for my priest that i used to make my power word shield and inner fire pop off at once. Its helped me while leveling. I think i had to have hit something wrong on accident to change it because now it wont work and i cant figure out what i messed up. The macro is
/castsequence reset=10 Inner fire(rank 1), cast[target=player] Power Word: Shield(rank 3)
Any ideas from anyone?
Never used a macro so this might be a dumb question, but if I prefer to use say shift-f when you use alt-f I just replace the "alt" in your script with "shift" correct? Thank you for the amazing content btw.

I’m trying to learn healing but I don’t understand macros. I did all of these but clicking on them just causes my character to say the macro name
i was excited to put macros on my priest but i copied pasted macros and only changed my mount name and macros did not work. i tried with /dismount instead and still didnt work. mouseover command does not work either. do i need to install and addon for these macros to work? any help would be appreciated

i have a problem with selftargeting with "alt" at all the "cancelaura" spells, for example flashheal doesnt heal me if i do "alt" flashheal. it just ignores the "alt-button" and heals the target i have.
you know the problem?

1:55 can someone tell me how to "Build in the self cast" so I can have just one button for dispel? Or is it wiser to have a separate dispel for myself like kala here?
In my opinion it is wiser to have a separate keybind - preferably 1 button with no modifier so you can react and hit it quickly - but overall whatever you're comfortable with matters more than anything. Try this:

/cast [mod:shift,@player] Dispel Magic; [@mouseover,help,nodead] Dispel Magic; [harm, nodead] [exists,nodead][@player] Dispel Magic
Replace "shift" with your modifier of choice. This macro will try to Dispel from yourself first if you're holding the modifier, otherwise without holding the modifier it tries to target your mouse-over target first, then your selected target, then yourself if you have no target at all.
I would also like to know how to build in the self cast macro

If it's possible, you would have to use a LUA script (either /run or /script), but I'm pretty sure they disabled IF statements to prevent people from just spamming one button to do everything for them.
Yo @Kala can you show me a spellswap macro that makes it so the macro as a shaman lightningbolts when u have targeted a enemy and heals you or allies when you have nothing targeted?
How could I use your first example of abolish disease, to mouse over rend mobs on my warrior without loosing my main target?

In the New Classic Game, if i use your macro's i have to push them twice to work, 1st to dismount, and then another time to cast the spell. any reason why this may be the case?
hello, is it possible for me to go out of shadowform and cast greater heal and then enter shadowform again with just 1 button?
Or is this impossible because of GCD?
Currently on stress test, I can't get stuff like /cast [target=self] "spell" to work. Did Blizzard fix these modern macros?
