Love the Yellowing lacquer on a Silverburst…makes it look sinister. I think his signature model should have just been that: yellowed, clear lacquer and the Seymour Duncan bridge pickup. The one-for-one replica is more for collecting and reenactment rock.
I do not understand how people can get their nose so bent out of shape over relic’ing though. I absolutely hate the Nissan Juke but I’d never call someone an idiot for having bought one. And Gibson has really stepped their game up since 2018. Everything new of theirs I’ve played since has been really really well made.
I suppose if I wasn’t happy with their product, I could probably go to school to be a luthier and do it my self…OR I could continue to complain about something I have no knowledge of or control of..that’s an option too

I kinda fell for the hype a bit around these because I’m a Tool fan. But then it got SO big and everyone wouldn’t STFU about them, that it actually turned me off wanting one.
I ended up somehow becoming the recipient of a Chibson version of it, which after I applied a bit of skills to it, straightened out the neck, replaced all parts with genuine (point of interest, except for the tuning heads which were Grover forgeries…every part I took off was epiphone, including the pups.)
I had some decent pups given to me to swap these out… now it’s not half bad!! It’s scary how close it gets. If I were unethical I could rip someone off with it! Scary world…

I like Tool. But I'm not enamored with Adam Jones and am not interested in getting a signature guitar of his. I would rather Gibson just add the silver burst finish to their LP standard lineup as a new non aged, non limited guitar at a reasonable price. I like silver burst more when it is new and this would give a new generation of players the option of a new guitar with that finish and the chance to mod it how they see fit... (or leave stock in my case)

This guitars is for collectors only or die hard tool fans (with money). No intermediate to pro guitar player would buy a fake used guitar that copies another artist. Why not find something more unique and mod it to your desire? You can get two solid ass guitars for this price and still have high end guitars.

At 6:27 it looks to be the initials “MJ”. I remember seeing a Robben Ford interview on Anderton’s where he was talking about some custom pickups he got from Seymour Duncan, wound by MJ, who’s one of their best. Pretty cool that she wound these as well.

I I honestly do not mean this to sound negative or to seem like I’m purposely trying to start stuff… But if I never see another one of these Adam Jones LPs again I would be just fine with that.

Honestly, i very much prefer the aging job they did on the V2 far over the original run. It seems like they took all the aging you would want on anything else coming from the custom shop, and got rid of all the dings, finish cracks, and other stuff that replicates his guitar, while still having all the vibe you could want. not worth the 10k asking price for me, but cool nonetheless.
