VA disability. It’s legal. It’s completely different than Social Security/Workers Comp disability. I am a 100% rated disabled veteran, and can still work. To explain how this works would take too long on UA-cam. There’s a wealth of information out there. Essentially, you enter military service 100% whole. This was bullshit advice. I don’t think he was looking for a pep talk, he was looking for for a strategy to tackle his debt. $100k range income will still have him drowning in debt. I don’t recall the. Mentioning interest rates buts that’s the real killer that keeps people in debt. $500k debt, could be paid off in 10yrs, but interest alone gonna increase it to 15yrs

Is he really going to make that much more as a nurse practitioner outside of the VA when you include all of his benefits? I don’t know about that. His benefits probably put him over 100K per year, and I’m not sure that it makes sense to leave and have to pay more for health insurance especially if he has lingering medical issues from his time in the service. I would recommend that he try getting a second job on the weekend or a side hustle.
Horrible advice. You gotta understand why he has so much debt to begin. Hes clearly spending more than hes bringing in. Until you deal with the spending just telling the guy to earn more is not going to get him out of that hole. Plus he gets free healthcare from the VA and the guy has a disability. What a waste of the caller and audience’s time. They offered no advice on how to settle the debts and pay them off.
I’m pretty sure he knows he has to work a lot
He will be out of debt in 10 years and have 20 years to save for retirement - living a beans and rice, non consumer lifestyle. Health is free - eat at home and enjoy your life doing the things that are free.
It’s like the SWAT team is over your shoulder, god bless man
Did anyone else cry when John talked about the why?
I was only able to go to college and then law school because I was offered such generous scholarships. If you have to take out hundreds of thousands of dollars for college, maybe college isn’t for you and that’s okay
Don’t feel bad about not having a budget. I’m 39 and a homeowner and I don’t have one either. I pay my bills on auto pay , and my 401k comes out , and just spend the rest of the month.
That's no way to live!!
Those women destroyed him financially!
Once again, let me make 500k in debt and file bankruptcy. How about not letting yourself get to that point.
This call literally had me crying
“Only” 87000
Bro if I was that deep in debt I would walk into traffic blindfolded

Yeah, this guy is filing for bankruptcy and it will still take him 20 years to escape this mess.
bruh, 87k? there nurse sin Cali with BS degree pumping $180 an hr with $270 OT as a travel nurse. Sure you be paying 100k worth of taxes but the 200k plus worth of money will get him out of this in 3-4 years
Well I feel better about my life now
If I were him, I'd go down to Mexico, tear all my papers, have a plastic surgery, pay a surgeon to have my fingerprints erased and come back into the US and live an an debt-free illegal immigrant:) Cha-Ching!!!
The word here he said is "free" and once again these two did not deliver and judged - he is not drowning he is asking for financial advice
This guy needs to become a work monk.
I would recommend that he try getting a second job on the weekend or a side hustle.
yes, very possible.
Yes. They can make bank if they position themselves well.
does he have child support and alimony? how old is kid? when he is 18 no support unless he goes to college.
They didn’t break down the debt !!!!where is Dave Ramsey ?
You two are a great team. More please! 🙂
Free advice. You get what you pay for.
Horrible advice. You gotta understand why he has so much debt to begin. Hes clearly spending more than hes bringing in. Until you deal with the spending just telling the guy to earn more is not going to get him out of that hole. Plus he gets free healthcare from the VA and the guy has a disability. You want him to leave that situation and start racking up medical bills? Seriously do some real cost bemefit analysis here.
