Dealing (Aggressively!!!) with them Snipers

  • It's a common complaint : Filthy snipers!
It is actually logical to learn to deal with them rather than whine incessantly about them. Most of the deadliest snipers (eg. Night Gyr, Warhawk, Dire Wolf, etc) lack DPS, aren't really that mobile and run hot so use these to your advantage.
Some basic rules to dealing with snipers :
    ** RULE 1 : DON'T WALK IN THE OPEN **
A sniper is useless if it has nothing to shoot at. Don't be an easy target by just fighting/moving in areas it can get lines while being in an advantageous position. And of course, don't walk in the open and get farmed.
    ** RULE 2 : PUSH THEM AGGRESSIVELY **
As mentioned above, many snipers have serious flaws (low DPS, low mobility, high heat). A coordinated aggressive push will clear them out fast. Map knowledge always helps so target the usual sniper spots. Also remember RULE 1 when pushing them.
    ** RULE 3 : HARASS/ASSASSINATE THEM **
A skilled light/pseudo-light pilot (eg. Sneaky Snek) will be able to sneak up and neutralise snipers well. Not as easy as it seems especially against a skilled pilot in a sniper mech. If you're not confident of this, get a buddy or two to light pack against them snipers.
In this match you will see...
... a strong coordinated push up to C4 to clear the snipers there (Night Gyr and Warhawk mainly who were reinforced later) and with the high ground advantage, just grind them to dust. Team trusted the calls so thank you team!
... enemies trying their best to get some damage (in the final act of the match) but basically being in the open and easy targets for even my blackjack. Can't blame them though, game was lost for them so in such a case, just get your damage in. Shows how standing in open is a bad idea vs snipers.
... a failed assassination attempt by a lone friendly Flea. Like I said, it's harder than it looks! Very effective but takes practice and a steel soul!

The problem here, is that your 'anti-sniper' routine still does rely on coordination. A thing that is rare to see beyond 'blob goes here autonomously' in pubby matches.

To a certain extent that is true but that's why Rule 1 is the first rule : don't walk across the open and get farmed. This happens a lot and then people whine about snipers.
When solo, deny snipers sightlines while you work on the rest. Slowly work up to their position and try to get an advantage (health and team numbers) then push them.
Easier said than done for sure but Rule 1 still stands.
Nothing more sad than people (on either team) walking across open terrain (eg. tourmaline deser), getting farmed, then whining about snipers. - BrioS

I have one of those. I haven't played it since x-pulse were released and I was thinking of swapping the erpeeps out.
    Now I definitely will!
    Thanks for the content 👍🏻

This build is strong but requires lots of face time which is not a good thing for a mech with subpar hitboxes like the Blackjack. Still great fun to play! - BrioS

Aw, I never seem to get games like that. Lately it's just been tons of Nascar pre-mades ignoring comms.

Soup queue is terrible and should be abolished or "fixed" even though it's a lot more fun to drop with friends.
I'm a firm believer that groups should communicate with the team using VOIP rather than doing their own thing via discord.
Also throw groups are a bigger issue than top tier compie groups but I guess that's just my opinion... - BrioS
