As a new wrx owner I just wanna say how much I appreciate your vids. You guys make great content and I’ve learned a lot so far
Thank you Mark.. it feels so great to get notifications for comments like this. We wouldn't be anywhere close to where we are today without the support of our amazing community and followers like you ♥️
Awesome guys! Content is great! I've been looking at a few different coilovers for my 19 wrx.
Great review..i have heard so many good things about these coils for the price.....you cant beat them
Great video I’m in CT and just picked 17 WRX limited and looking at coil overs seen these and your review is amazing definitely getting these now and you earned a sub keep it up
I have the f spec. They are honestly great 👍 I did have my passenger side blow on me in the first 200miles but factionfab did me a solid and sent a new strut for free. Great for daily driving and a little aggressive driving on back roads car feels completely different.
In search for coil overs I just found your video and I'm glad. I have Hawkeye STI, and i hate the stiff rough ride I have on my current coil overs.
Thanks for this vid helps narrow down my coil over search to either these the FR-Spec or the BCs
At last .... someone reviews these! THANKS!!
thinking about getting these too thanks for making a review them
Definitely love the video and review. Appreciate the time you guys took to get this all set up for the rest of the Suby community. I guess my question is, how long do you expect these to hold up? I really am interested in both Faction Fab and Fortune auto 500 series.
So far so good for both but if you not planning on tracking get the faction fab, you can literally buy 2 sets for the price of the fortune autos. But build wise they looked good so time will tell how long they last. If you looking to track tho fortune auto is the way to go
Excellent video as always, I'm still in the beginning phase of mods on my 16 wrx. So far just an AP, grimmspeed stealth box intake and grimmspeed catted j pipe. Our roads suck out here so I'm looking into suspension. Thanks for the informative review on these I'm basically sold lol. Stay safe out there with this virus going around! 🤙🏼😎
Hell yeah man! You stay safe too. I'm doing the GS j pipe and intake very soon as well 🤙
@@WRXGarage thanks Brother! And yeah, grimmspeed was great to deal with, they had a backorder on intakes when I ordered and they kept me updated and upgraded my shipping. I live all the way out in Guam, shipping kills us lol. But the intake and j pipe are excellent fit and finish. You'll be happy!
Make sure you get a tune for your intake and jpipe. Both of those mods need a tune that takes them into account!
Such a great video!
Hey man, thanks alot for your review. I took your advise and i just ordered them the F spec's just like you i also bought their 20mm fanction fab spacers
Nice!! We aren't running the spacers though. Aftermarket 9.5" wheels with +35 offset!
Thanks Kyle. These are on my list
Just got my new 21 wrx, been subscribing to subie channels, dope!
You guys are OGs!!!
This is perfect because I just bought these coil overs F spec and I couldn’t find any videos on install for this brand
I live in ct as well got a stage 2 wrx as well. Sick content
Idk about the Fspec, I heard there good coil overs especially for what it brings and there cheap. I have the factionfab FRspec, 12k spring rate up front and 10k spring rate in the back. I heard the Fspec is soft but the FRspec are amazing and I daily my wrx. But good vid👌
NICE VIDEO REVIEW! I’M CURRENTLY SEARCHING FOR A COILOVER SETUP NOW FOR MY WRX. I’M POSSIBLY GOING TO GET THESE... THEN SAVE TO BAG IT IN THE FUTURE. THAT GAP IS TOTALLY HIDEOUS!!!
Great video !! Going to have to get these now.
They're definitely worth it!
I definitely want to lower mine but I don't like the gap too much but we also have decently rough winters
I had those f spec as well. They are amazing! I dont have idea about the dampening pls do a video on which turn to stiff left or right? Thanks nice video!
Hi Vlad, you just need to put the knobs into the tops of the shocks, click all the way in one direction, then go back 16 clicks to find the middle.
Great video guys!! My suspension is already pretty stiff stock, I wonder how much better these will be, I’m really interested in those especially for the price.
Very cool
The more time I drive with these the more I like them factionfab made a great product
They are stiff but not shocking. I always thought my stock suspension would hit bottom hard. These do not do that at all.
Agreed!!!
yep just bought these today, you guys definitely are the reason i did. Got them for my FR-S , loved the video ‼️
Let us know how they are, I plan on doing a frs/brz project car eventually
@@WRXGarage Will definitely keep you updated!
@@JarredWoods hey, I'm also looking at these for my FR-S, I was wondering what your opinions are.
@@flintlights i would save and get BC Racing or Fortune Auto 500s
@@JarredWoods how come? Why didn’t you like the F-Spec?
I installed a set of the godspeed maxx Mmx 3000 coilovers on my 987 about 6 months ago and $840 I can't believe they are that cheap because they are built very solid. Fuk those ppl that talk shit about good products they have never owned lol. Great vid and thanks for the honesty and letting us get a hands on look. Take care guys
I've been running the FSpec for about a month and they are great!
Nice!!! They're honestly a great set. How long have you had yours?
I have mine maxed out in the rear. @nwfotowrx
@@WRXGarage i've been on them for about a month. I had lowering springs, then BC Racing, and now FactionFab. The Faction Fabs are my favorite. I just wish I could go a little lower, but I'll live with it. The ride quality is SO MUCH Better. I just added Kartboy rear sway bar end links because my stocks were making a lot of noise. That's a must have as well.
Great video!!! Really thinking about getting the F-specs now for my 16 wrx. Would you guys happen to know if using wheel spacers or hubcentric would change anything about it? And would you do a camber with these on?
Also how did you black out your headlights and taillights like that?
Thanks! To answer your questions...
-both Kyle and I are using hubcentric rings to adapt our wheels to the oem hub size! If your aftermarket wheels are a different hub size, you MUST use them. as for wheel spacers, that depends on the brand, what kind of studs you're using, and of course your wheel fitment.
-For Kyle's camber, you can only use the stock camberbolt adjustment in the front, and in the rear, the lower you go the more your wheel will naturally camber.
-Here's our video where we blacked out his headlights! ua-cam.com/video/kAj8CO4Aw0o/v-deo.html
Do you have to drop the LCA's to adjust the height on the rear? Or can just loosen the bottom nut and turn for adjustment like the front? Thanks Great Vids!
Great video!
Question: How much (inches) does the shock compresses under the normal weight of the vehicle?
Update on how they’re holding up? Im planning on getting the fr specs for my sti but im worried abt how they’ll do in the long term.
I just got these for 08-14 haven’t tried them yet! I’m excited
Hey have you installed your coil overs?
@@edgarj415 yes i did and i love them. they make a weird clunking sound when turning tho..
i have the fr spec 12.8 k ones for last few months and with Canadian roads, I am tapping out. Gonna do the F spec (these) of the FL...not sure yet.
ETA on a follow up video? I'm super anxious to get these, especially since they're back in stock.
Follow up video coming up soon!
Haven’t seen all the videos just started watching and was wondering how much camber you ended up getting with these coilovers and did you ever do something to adjust the camber, I’m thinking of getting the same ones but want to take away the camber if possible
There isn't camber adjustment on the f-spec coilovers, but you could always add aftermarket camber bolts which are very affordable.
New to coilovers. Just bought the F spec for my 22 wrx. I hear you mention going soft, middle and all the way but what about staggered front vs rear? Have you dialed it in to x number front and y number rear? I imagine it would make sense to go stiffer front and softer rear? Good video.
Softer front, stiffer rear is always a better setup! WRXs biggest suspension issue is understeer. Stiff rear end allows the car to rotate better, soft front promotes better grip and will be a more comfortable rear. As for the stiffness number, it really depends on what you're looking for in the car, everyone will find their own sweet spot where the car feels best. Best way to find your number is set the number of clicks right in the middle. And try driving each day adding 4-5 clicks up or down.
Picking up my 2019 sti Sunday. I can't wait. How do these ride so far?
Ride great 👍🏻
0:45 - 0:53
Cameraman: for SURE I'm going to show you all the roof of the house and top of my man's head as he's giving a visual demo with his hands.
To drop that inch all around, what was was the distance between the collars top and bottom..
Of the 32-way dampening, where would you put stock ride stiffness? Towards the middle or more towards the soft side? I'm waiting on my coilovers to come in and can't wait to get them installed.
Even with the coilovers at the softest setting, the overall feel is still different from stock. Our suggestion is to set the dampening in the middle to start, drive for a couple days, and adjust up or down as needed!
They holding up pretty well?
Hey man! How's it holding up til now? Thanks
Couple questions, how do these handle gravel? I do a lot of gravel driving and i'm worried about that handling. Also, if you wanted lift, would these give you any additional travel at their highest ride height? Would be nice in winter to actually give additional ride height.
Hey Jarret, you might be able to push these to just above stock height. Maybe 1/2inch higher. We haven't driven them on gravel, but I assume they would handle it fine!
I have them and they feel great 👌🏻
Yeah I agree so far I am loving them
Why leave the wheel gap after installing? Why not got a little lower
I went with 30mm in the front and it’s pretty low. Did you use a mm or just an inch and a half compared to your oem ones next to each other?
Hey Kyle, how are coils holding up so far? I'm thinking about grabbing a set with the stimulus 😁, my stock is getting old and tired haha. Hope all is well 😎
So far so good. They have completely settled now and the ride is great. When it’s just me I ride on the stiffest setting but when people are in the car I soften it up and even the girlfriend says it’s super comfy now
@@WRXGarage If its girlfriend approved then I'm sold LOL! The price is too good to not buy them, especially with the 12 percent off deal going on at rallysportdirect. Shipping anything out here kills me (293 bucks to ship the exhaust I want 🤦♂️) so any savings without sacrificing quality I'm in. Hope you and Kevin are well, and thanks for the update 👊🏽
Great coilovers. Been rolling on these for almost a year now.
How low can you go?
I bought the FR set just waiting to get them. I’ll be doing a self install. It seems easy to do i never did coilover install on a car tho. I just dont wanna pay the same in what these cost for a pro install
As long as you set the preload correctly, and take your time ensuring each of the heights are the exact same, you'll be fine. Also make sure you're torquing down all of the suspension bolts correctly
@@WRXGarage is there a place i can find those torque values for the bolts?
In our videos! We've gone over the specific torque specs for each part. Subispeed's coilover install video also covers all the torque specs at one point as well
How did it go? I've never done a coilover install as well and im kind of nervous about it
Great review hows it handling rn after 9 months thinkin of getting these
Fantastic no issues or nothing I don’t like about them
@@WRXGarage goodlooks !
The prices were so low 2 years ago 💀
I lost my adjuster key can i use an Allen key to adjusts it
What did everyone set their damp to
Since these dont come with camber adjustable top hats, can you still get enough camber in the front to flush the wheels to the fender??
Havnt put it that low but it can definitely get close. They actually sell a pair the FL spec that have adjustable top hats and go lower then mine will. But yes, the stock camber allows for flush fitment.
I watched this video and the “budget vs mid tier” video. How are these still holding up? Any complaints/problems so far?
Nope! These have been running great since they were installed! Definitely add some antiseize under the locking collars when you install them, but I'd suggest you do that for any brand coilovers haha
Are this coilover the best for daily? Im looking to lower my 17wrx but I dont want a harsh ride and I don't do track. Thanks for any suggestions.
These are perfect for you then! Affordable, comfortable, great for a daily driver
How did these end up holding up over time just wondering because I’m lookin at getting a set of coilovers
Go watch our video called "budget vs mid tier coilovers"! We give a great review of both after a year of use
What is your 1 year review and how well did they hold up through the winter?
Held up great, still preforming well like I just put them on
@@WRXGarage thank you for the review, I am interested in buying these as I am also only concerned about daily driving because the stock suspensions are just absolutely brutal especially on bumpy roads 🤦🏻♂️
thinking to put on my hawkeye sti… deciding between FRs or D2 pro street series or BC v1-va .. all which are similar prices here in aus and all similar in spec.. any suggestions? anyone who has tried all three and can point me in the direction!?!?
Our buddy had BC coilovers and after driving factionfab and then bc we both said factionfab fab felt better. Not a massive massive difference but noticeable
Update on the 2 months how are they holding up.
So far absolutely fantastic I am going to go through a full 3 month review video coming very soon.
@WRXGarage I just installed these on my '18 WRX 2 days ago. I've been hearing a "clunking"/knocking noise at low speed coming from the front and the rear of the car since then. It goes away once I get past 25-30 it seems (or I just can't hear it). I've checked all bolts/mounting points, everything is tight. I should note that I was also hearing clunking noises here and there from my OEM suspension, but figured that was due to a leaking strut I had. Any ideas of what to check on? I appreciate it!
Definitely not from a leaking strut! You'd see hydraulic fluid all over the place if that was the case. I'd give them some time to break in. The other option to check on is to redo the preload on the springs. It's possible that the clunking is from the spring moving around from not enough preload
@@WRXGarage interesting...a mechanic friend told me I had a leaking strut, maybe he meant it was damaged?? Either way I'm still glad I replaced the garbage OEM setup with these coilovers, the improvement in ride quality has been amazing! Thanks for your review here and all you guys' hard work for the community. I appreciate the quick response and knowledge, too! I'll give the coils some time for sure, redo preload and also check endlinks/bushings unless you think those won't be a culprit. Thanks again!
@@JustinKingDesigns did you sort this issue?
@@LymaxVisuals unfortunately no, but am 99% sure that it was something to do with my sway bars/endlinks/bushings moreso than the coils as I was hearing the clunks/pops on the OEM suspension before I replaced it, just not as severe. I got rid of the car (and the coils) a couple of months ago, too many problems on top of this annoying issue.
Sway bar and endlinks usually culprit. Make sure endlinks are perpendicular to ground while the wheels under load and torque to specs….grease the sway bar rubber attaching to subframe at both spots. 99% of time its that.
Do these ride smoother than the stock suspension? That what I’m looking for?
Absolutely. They are super comfortable, definitely better than stock which is a weird combination of too stiff and too bouncy.
do these coilovers have the adjustable camber tophats? i was lookin at these and the fr spec ones so i can add a negative camber. if these do itll save me 200$
The Fspec's don't have camber plates but the FR-specs do!
@@WRXGarage thanks man! appreciate it.
How does it compare to stock ride when it’s on softest setting?
Way more comfortable
Any update on how these are performing after some time ? Looking to get these
6 months later, they perform amazing. Still in perfect shape, no oxidation. We have a full follow-up review coming soon
WRXGarage sweet ! thanks for the reply
What size wheels? And any rubbing?
These are 18x9.5 +35, wrapped with 255/35 tires. No rubbing at all!
just bought mine, do u know in mm how much u lowered ur car?
I think I did 1 inch and a half if that helps
I installed the new fl spec and I've been having problems with clunking, have any of you had this problem? Thanks
No issues with noise on our set. Did you manually set the preload?
@@WRXGarage Yes I set it with a caliper on both sides. 4mm exact. I've already changed the top hat bearing and a damper and the noise came back after a week of driving. It's only on u turns that have a dip, going back to driving straight. If that makes sense
That's odd.. are you sure it's not one of the stock components? Keep in mind that the stock suspension parts, sway bars, endlinks, control arm bushings, etc will all be under more strain the lower you go. It's entirely possible that the sound is from one of those not the coilover itself.
Could also be steering rack or linkage. Lowering the car changes the caster (steering angle)
@@WRXGarage my car is a 2020 series white with 6k miles and I only lowered like an 1" or so. Did you change any other suspension components after or before the coilovers? I've checked all the front suspension for wear and play and everything is good. I'm working on the car this weekend and when I'm done with the e85 tune parts I'm going to dive deeper into this suspension fiasco. The car handles awesome other than that annoying clunk, pop, I'm getting after u turns. Gregan at FF has been awesome and really has been trying to help me. FF has realllly good customer service and I really hope its something other than the coilovers.
I was wondering how long does it take for the coil overs to settle
Usually just a couple hours of driving!
Cool thanks
I just finished installing them today
And maybe I’ll see you guys on the road I don’t live too far from Hartford
So you put them on to stay stock or did it go down?
Lowered about an inch all around
WRXGarage got it nice bro looks great I’m looking in to it! Love your car man!!
How long did it take you?
To install? Only a few hours with fine tuning
How are they doing after a year?
Fantastic
Now 8 months have went by how do you feel about them
We did a follow up review already! Look at our channel 👍
I have but not very well organized 😕
"Budget vs Mid-tier coilover comparison"
Yes thanks just watched it
Was this a product placement? Serious question
No. We don't post content on any products or services that we don't 100% stand behind. Further, we don't receive payment from any company for any products we make content on. We are very transparent with our true opinions of products.
Interesting.....
🤔
How high did you you put the fronts and rear
What do you mean we lowered it prob an inch or so
People bash Tein over FactionFab? Lol k
The FactionFabs haven't really been on the market long enough for people to have an opinion yet. That's the purpose of our video!
i think people just bash any coilover under $1k in general.
So f SPEC or flex Z ? 😪
