      Too bad torque specs are wrong, most of em. Like rear bottom strut is 52 and those arm bolts are 69. Nothing is 88 in the back.
      Ppl cannot read manuals/comprehend what they read.

    • @builtbyablonde
      @builtbyablonde Рік тому

      Learned the hard way that they in fact should not be torqued to 88ft lbs. Now a weekend project is turning into a week long project cause the dealer doesn’t carry either of those bolts on hand.
      The front is incorrectly marked as well, should be 114ft lbs from the service manual, NOT 145.

    We found it easiest when installing the new coilovers on the rear to make sure you install the bolt that goes through the end link first (14 mm). That will save you a lot of aggravation.

    Fantastic video - definitely look like some quality coilovers! I only wish they had a spring rate somewhere in the middle. The F-Spec seems like it may be too soft for occasional track days and likewise FR-Spec too rough for daily driving. I could be wrong though...

    • @factionfab5834
      @factionfab5834 5 років тому +8

      When doing testing we settled on these rates for the F-Spec as it was a great compromise for street comfort and occasional track day performance. Unless you are running an aggressive track day oriented tire that is 200 tread wear or lower, the tires will be the limiting factor. We found that with your average performance summer tire, the F-Spec coilovers on a stiffer setting performed quite well. As we had to make a compromise on the spring rate as going much stiffer then that on the F-Spec would have resulted in a need for more aggressive valving, which would have taken away from allot of the shocks performance on the street in terms of comfort and compliance. On the FR-Spec we didn't want to go much softer as it would have had an opposite effect and the shock would not have worked very well in the stiff setting and would have not performed as we intended for them to perform on the track. In addition, the shock is 32 way adjustable, and you will be quire surprised how much adjustment it actually has. Even making 1-2 click adjustments on the track and street made a noticeable difference in the dampers performance. You will be quite surprised how well the F-Spec actually do for a Street coilover and how nice they ride on the street. The FR-Spec are track oriented an do have ride quality compromise on the street in exchange for track day performance.

    Why are the torque specs so high for the rear lower control arms? What kind of metal are those bolts made out of?!
    Taking a look at 12:50 and starting from left to right of the Whiteline Sway Bar Support Brace, the torque specs should be:
    Whiteline Support Brace: 59 ft-lbs
    Rear Endlink to LCA: 28 ft-lbs
    Coilovers to LCA: 59 ft-lbs
    Hub to Coilovers: 59 ft-lbs
    These are the factory torque specs that the factory components and many aftermarket coilovers and LCAs use, fwiw.

In this video, you took them out and installed them in two different directions. So does it matter or not?

    • @SubiSpeed
      @SubiSpeed  5 років тому +2

      It does matter. Ideally you would want the bolt side towards the front of the car and the nut on the rear, that way if the nut does back off and ever come off there is a better chance that the bolt will stay in place, however, some coilovers only allow for the camber bolt to be installed one way (which is why it's installed the way it is in the video) due to the fact that only one whole is slotted.

      We pride ourselves on quality as our #1 priority. These coilovers have been tested in a very wide range of environment from high heat and humidity, to frigid winters and salt. The testing including things like winter and summer track days, salt and corrosion spray tanks, and 3rd party independent testing of materials. As a testament to quality we use steel, seals and valving imported from Japan, and damping fluid from Italy because we wanted to offer what we believe is the best product for the money. Because of this, we are confident enough in our products to offer a 1 year warranty on our suspension system. We opted to keep pricing reasonable and competitive, to allow a wider range of customers to have access to our product instead of charging more for no reason. The price point might be affordable, but these units are by no means cheap.
