Dominic Thiem may not have been as great as the Big 3. But it's very clear that, like Del Porto, he was a player who was much respected and very well loved. It's disheartening that both the King of Clay (Nadal) and the Prince (Thiem) are retiring this year, but life goes on. Thank you Domi. You will always be in our hearts.
An incredible player, I still remember the thrill we all had watching Thiem rise up against the big 4, to see someone new and fresh compete at such a high level and win was so exciting - he will be so sorely missed, this sport is so riddled with injuries, it costs us our greatest too often
If only his body hadn't betrayed him... Still, i'll remember his furious backhand, as beautiful and lethal as Stan's, and obviously his USO run. But also the genuinely great and kind man he is off court. Wishing you all the very best for what's coming next Domi.
Thiem was such a good clay courter, always fun to watch, yet all of his big moments came from hard, like Indian Wells 2019 dacing Federer, AO 2020 leading 2-1 but lost in the end, USO 2020 came back from 0-2, ATP Finals 19-20 run 💚 He lost to Medvedev in 2020 which was ok to me because Meddy is a great hard court player, but I will never forgive Tsitsipas for that 2019 ATP Finals 😢
He so deserved to win a Roland Garros, in the same way Murray deserved an Australian Open. It’s a shame injuries really sidelined Thiem. He definitely could have won more Slams.
Man, that wrist injury really did rob Thiem of 3-5 years of a top ten career and pushing for big titles, DelPo could at least play to a high level without a topspin backhand. Instead he is gone from the sport just after Murray and just before Nadal. Hits a bit, even though we have known it was coming for a while. Still, he won titles at all levels, can't really be disappointed.
Before alcaraz it was Dominic thiem we all know that ,true followers of tennis knows that

I wish he had won at least one Roland Garros and ATP Finals
Lost 2 finals on both these tournaments
