Hey guys! I hope you're enjoying the content and learning something new. I put a lot of effort into creating this video, so I hope you'll watch it all the way through. Thanks for your continuous support of the channel. If you're a Hornets fan (if there's any), keep the faith and don't lose hope!
Feel free to suggest any NBA Timeline topics you'd like to see covered in future videos.
I would like to see a NBA Timeline on the Karl Malone and John Stockton Jazz
A pacers rebuild would be interesting
OKC rebuild from KD to SGA
Supersonics last years
Reggie miller pacers
Yeah, I definitely agree with that statement. "Michael Jordan is the Michael Jordan of bad owners."
Very true man
This statement was on point.
Bad statement Donald Sterling is and was mike jordan of owners
Paying Nicholas Batum 5 years 120 million dollars was diabolical enough, lowballing Kemba Walker was just as disrespectful
Considering that Walker's career went south since leaving Charlotte, Jordan made the right decision to not overpay Walker.
So tough man
The Hornets have made bad decisions in almost every single year possible.
Made bad draft picks, bad free agency decisions, bad trade decisions.
Very very very few moments in their history make me feel like they've made a good decision.
They do make bad decisions, and the fact that haven't made the playoffs in 8 years speaks volumes.
That's why they are a poverty franchise
Because of Michael Jordan😂😂😂
I completely forgot they drafted Shai to immediately drop him
So tough
They would've traded him anyway, if they had to choose between him and LaMelo
Crazy
@@ColdHoops Wow such a stupid thing to do
As a Hornets fan and Charlotte native, this video hurts to see lmao it’s even more painful because we’ve had ample amount of chances to draft or sign respectable players. We do have something brewing right now IF players and franchise cornerstones can stay healthy for a FULL season.
Wow a hornets fan! Don't lose hope on your team man!
The GOAT owner
Something on the 2008-09 Charlotte Bobcats always thought was pretty funny.
On April 1st, 2009 the Bobcats sat at 34-40 just one game back of the Bulls for that 8th seed. Charlotte was forced to play 6 of their last 8 games on the road because their arena had to be used for a horse event called the "Charlotte jumper classic"
The Bobcats finished the season 1-7 during that stretch
Damn that is screwed up too
Indeed. Very unfortunate
10:11 Eric Collins called a free throw: 🤣
Oh my goodness lol
The history of the Hornets was crazy during the 2000s the original Hornets moved to New Orleans in 2002 then the Charlotte Bobcats came along as an expansion team in 2004 also New Orleans Hornets moved to OKC in 2005-06 during Chris Paul rookie year because of Hurricane Katrina then New Orleans changed their team name to the Pelicans in 2014 while Charlotte got the Hornets name and history back
It's crazy for all that history of non history
Yeah. They made it complicated, where in fact, the current charlotte hornets must be the new expansion team in 2004
@@jaywarvz Yeah if you look up the Charlotte Hornets team on online it shows Charlotte Hornets original franchise 1988-2002 then Charlotte Bobcats 2004-14 then Charlotte Hornets from 2014-present it's crazy
So many of these draft picks were all amazing college players that just didn’t work in the nba or on charlotte for some reason
Maybe charlotte had problems with developing players
@@jaywarvz oh they definitely do haha it's definitely a bit of both
"He took Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who walk right in there and START CHANGING THE CULTURE." It's been over a decade now and that still sounds like the most decorated bullshit Skip has ever said. I wonder how much money MKG was offering him to say these words like COME ON😂😂😂
Dumb take lol
This is my entire life as a charlotte basketball fan right here
Wow a charlotte fan!
its been like this since the 80s. it was about as bad when George Shinn ran the team.
Also crazy they had 33 wins and were 10th seed in the play in, and the very next year had 43 wins but were still in the play in since the east got better
That was because of Covid lol
@@PatriotsFan-rk3tg covid made them better?
@@Disneymagic24 no they had 33 wins and made the playin because Covid shortened the season
Teams only played 70 games that season
True man
13:30 after that news the New Orleans Pelicans were now considered the expansion team in 2002. Still weird that the Charlotte Hornets are now deemed as “taking a break” from 2002 to 2004 later “coming back” as the Charlotte “Bobcats”
The Cleveland Browns also had the same thing happen for them as well when they got their new team after the original left for Baltimore to become the Ravens.
A very complicated history. The current hornets must be the expansion team
@@jaywarvz the Pelicans are now the expansion team. This current Hornets team is the second incarnation of the 1988-2002 team 👍
Not a Charlotte fan, but I still remember the day it was announced they were reverting back to the Hornets name.
What a time
Charlotte's 1st round drafting run from 2012-2018 is truly legendarily horrific, just bust after bust after bust. Not to mention the fact that they were offered multiple Brooklyn Nets 1st rounders in the 2015 draft so the Celtics could trade up and draft Justice Winslow, and instead they held onto it and picked Frank Kaminsky. Worst run franchise in the NBA since their founding and with the Knicks, Timberwolves, and Kings all becoming great teams again, it's pretty indisputable at this point.
Indeed a tough luck man. Very unfortunate
"Hornets executives explain why they wouldn't trade Frank Kaminsky for 4 1st-round picks"..... i've played enough nba live and 2k to know the value of a 1st round pick, even a low one. LOL
Yeah, you would think even by chance they draft someone good with this many tries. And they did - SGA - but immediately traded him to Clippers 😅
10:17 that's dead wrong 😂😂
Lol
As a Hornets fan the title is true but sad
They are like 16 year Sacramento Kings lol
So tough man
If MJ would have just let the front office doing their job instead of surrounded by yes men, they've potentially could have been something.
Heck also imagine if Emeka Okafor and Adam Morrison could’ve worked out, that would’ve been a lot of potential for them to build something right there. I forgot that Raymond Felton was quite decent too, it’s been so long seeing or hearing about him. Even if Morrison and Okafor were average to above average they would’ve at minimum made the playoffs a little more often. At this point with the way the Hornets are, I wouldn’t be surprised if they broke the Kings’ playoff drought that lasted 17 years and maybe they’ll become the first NBA team by this rate to have a playoff drought lasting 20 years.
Facts man
Charlotte Hornets are the new Sacramento Kings
No doubt
It’s honestly impressive how you can make a draft pick miss for almost 20 years straight.
Maybe they are good picks. The problem is the player development
11:40 Stephen A wasn’t hearing any of that 😂😂
Yea lol
Them trading away SGA would probably go down as THE WORST draft night decisions ever made
Indeed man
I gotta say it 1 more time, "OH MY GOODNESS! Humm Diddly Dee!" Lmao Rofl
Lol
Picking all those garbage unc players doomed us
Because jordan is from unc lol
Philly tanked all those years and STILL haven't made a ECF.
So how bad is it...REALLY? 🤔
@@ColdHoops lol charlotte has it way worse constant rebuild
In 2012 the 7-59 Charlotte Hornets missed out on the Hall-of-Fame talent Anthony Davis, leading to one of the saddest looking lottery reactions anyone has seen.
Charlotte drafted Michael Kidd-Gilchrist 2nd overall, passing on Bradley Beal (3rd) and Damian Lillard (6th).
Kidd-Gilchrist had his moments in Charlotte, but never developed his raw offensive skill-set and hitchy jump shot to be anything more than a role player.
Very very unfortunate man
AD going to Charlotte wouldn't have done him any favours.
Charlotte never built an adequate team, with the exception of their 2015-16 squad.
Even though I'm a D-Wade fan, I'm still annoyed Charlotte didn't win the series lol
It’s amazing, they were so financially hamstrung with bad contracts that they couldn’t build around Kemba properly, yet Kemba (while being the teams best player) was on a super team-friendly contract
So unfortunate man
Not getting the 1st pick after that awful 2012 season really fucked them
Rigged lottery
@eric1234912 Not really. All #1 picks aren't great.
Look at AD. As talented as he is, he still hasn't reached his potential. Or whatever it is, and play at that level consistently because he's made of glass.
Also, Pistons have had lottery picks since drafting Greg Monroe, and they're still where they are...

I couldn't believe that as the "Bobcats", they made the playoffs twice in 2010 & 2014, despite getting swept, when they became the Hornets, they only made one playoff appearance in 2016, That's tough.
Poverty franchise man

Oh man lol
Love the vids Warvz! ❤
Thanks a lot man
Awesome video man!!
Thank you very much!
MJ having the ghost of Jerry Krause in his head is the reason why the Hornets are a failure what I mean by that is, we all know Krause is responsible for that 90s bulls dynasty as much as the players were, MJ’s ego is so sensitive he let Krause get to him so he thought he could do what Krause did and try to build his dynasty. Little did he know it’s not that easy it is Mike?😂
You got a point man
Do Trailblazers rebuild from Dame Lillard all the way to Scoot Henderson and the new G League team or Just Ben Simmons
Sure man
Jay Jay Warvz, nice video bruh
Thanks a lot man
@@jaywarvz it's cool man keep the videos coming
This is a really great recap man, very well put together
Very much appreciated
Last time I watched one of these vids the kings finally made the playoffs so let’s hope Lamelo and Brandon Miller can lead them back 👏🏽
Let's still hope man
Crazy they havent been to the playoffs since 2016. Thats half a decade
I mean the kings almost went 20 years without making the playoffs so not that crazy 😂
So tough man
@@deadshot244 Charlotte made two consecutive play-ins (2021, 2022) and still couldn't make the playoffs.
Poverty franchise 🤷♂️
Just wanted to say that this video format is growing on me. Keep up the great work
Very much appreciated man
I know the Hornets are absolutely SICK after trading away Shai and seeing what he is today
they even traded kobe bryant in the draft day
Very unfortunate
@LukeSkywalkrr5714
'The Logo' is more hurt than Hornets are lol
Watching them miss out on players year after year is hilariously sad
Very unfortunate man
Hope this team could turn around to make it better. It was great that they pick brandon miller he was such a great player and he has bright future could make this team better with lamelo and miles bridges
Hopefully man. They were poverty franchise for decades
Hornets Good Draft Picks
Kemba
Lamelo
B Mill
That’s it, that’s the list
Kemba and LaMelo are good picks except for Brandon Killer, a bust player he thinks he's Paul George but the franchise still the worst
@@josediegobachmannparabe6910 huh? Miller was literally a top 3 rookie this year talkin bout “a bust player” 🤨
So tough
Imagine if they Drafted those Missed Drafts they could make history
No doubt
It's a shame the Hornets have had such a tough go around in the 21st century, especially considering the name 'Hornets' has an intimidating ring to it. As a result of poor team finishes we've had a few underrated players come out of this franchise - Gerald Wallace, Kemba Walker and I'd argue Brandon Miller (though he's just gotten started so anything can happen.) Hopefully with new ownership things will turn around. W video and might I suggest a timeline on the Larry Johnson, Glen Rice, Alonzo Mourning 90s Hornets?
Sure will do man. Thanks a lot
Why do I feel this is a future ‘6 years ago’ comment that will read so sad when the Hornets miss the playoffs again in 2030
This charlotte can't catch a break
So tough
How can an organization draft so bad damn
Maybe the problem is the player development
Great video! Could you do a Kevin Garnett timeline?
Soon man
As a Hornets fan for my entire life, this was hard to watch xD missed out on too many greats and made SO many bad moves. Just came across the channel though, really good stuff!
Thank you very much man!
The only time hornets reached above .550 win rate was in 2016
So tough
underrated
Thanks man
As a panthers/hornets fan when Jordan said he’s a “hands on” owner I lost it 😅

How could they fumble SGA💀
Honestly LA fumbled it more trading him to OKC
They missed a future superstar
@@lukeymccoy4730 It's not a fumble if OKC fails to win a championship with their 2ND generation talented core

After looking at this video, the Hornets really seem to be the St Louis Browns of the NBA.
Poverty franchise
9:10 missed it so badly that it banked in….😑
So tough
Do Lowry timeline pls
Soon man
Charlotte literally drafted a team of backups
The Charlotte hornets are the definition of insanity
Very unfortunate man
Michael Jordan might be the ultimate example of "great players do not make great executives." Being incredible at your sport is a totally different skill set from being able to draft and assemble a roster.
Very true man. Worst owner
Do the portland Jailblazers
Noted man
Lamelo 5yr up to $260,000,000 is absolute insanity
Hopefully this franchise can turn a corner since Jordan and Kupchak are gone. Kupchak had prior success, but his tenure at the end of his time with the Lakers was not good.
Hopefully man. Hopefully
Steve Clifford is underrated when you consider what he was able to do with bad rosters early on
True man
7:13 I never knew crash suffered 4 concussions.
I really wished Jordan would have gotten this right.
But he made them poverty franchise
I don’t think Orlando “regretted it”😂
Jay will u ever try to do nfl timelines?
I only make NBA videos because this is the topic I am most knowledgeable about. Hope you understand
@@jaywarvz I understand i just thought itd be more views and just in case u run out of nba ideas, if u need help with nfl timelines i could help
Yes man. I have basic knowledge about the NFL. I guess it is more complicated than the NBA
Passing on Beal and trading Shai was the downfall
Indeed
This is why there needs to be less teams, not more. Why have these teams when certain places can't get certain caliber of players and basically have to pray you fall into a generational talent in the draft to be worth a damn
Very unfortunate.
It takes extra talents to have such a bad track records on drafts
Very unfortunate man
😂 I think Orlando was happy with Dwight Howard even though it didn't end well
Still a better pick than okafor lol
Under 2 minutes gang ☝️
👁👁
Yow
Bad coaching and front office decisions, horrendous scouting and drafting… I always felt bad and ashamed as a Bulls fan, but after realizing charlottes recent basketball history, I don’t feel as bad lol
I really do wonder if they will ever be contenders
They will remain a poverty franchise for the next decade
This city has had painfully bad ownership..... George Shinn, Bob Johnson, Michael Jordan, David Tepper. Sadly, Jerry Richardson was the best owner this city has ever had.
Poverty franchise
I had faith for Hornets to be contenders since kemba is a huge potential for the horners to be in the playoffs or a chance to win a title but by the time they put kemba out , I lose hope for them
And they are heading to nowhere
Can you do a timeline of the Brooklyn nets before the kd, Kyrie and harden era?
I miss all our guys 😭 D'Lo, Levert, Allen.
Dinwiddie came back, but he's
garbage. Joe Harris ain't been the same since 2021.
Sure man
The fact that Dick Vitale was horribly wrong 😂 1:41
Yeah lol
imagine if they didn’t trade away SGA on draft night
Probably they will waste his talents like they did in kemba
@@narjesdeoso7118 true
Another wasted talent if ever
@@jaywarvz I hope they don’t also end up wasting the talents Lamelo and Miller
Monk was an good pick but steve didn't used him right
As a Kings fan who's seen tons of disfunction this is truly the saddest franchise in the league right now.
Couldn't agree more man
Even the Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken both won their first playoff series before the Hornets did. The Hornets are the last nba team to win a playoff series.
That’s right, 2002 was the last time they won a playoff series. Even the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings who last won a playoff series in 2004 have shorter droughts.
Very unfortunate man
They drafted a lot of good college players
And they became back-ups
charlotte missed out on 15 all star worthy players in the draft during the 2005-20 stretch its embarrassing bruh
That's why they are a poverty franchise lol
Bro you didn’t have to put poverty franchise in the title, we know already😭
Just an emphasis man
@@jaywarvz it’s all good bro. I’m just a depressed Hornets fan lol
from watching this video and seeing brandon miller drafted last makes me think now he might be a bust or very mid. goes back since 05
Very unfortunate
He's less likely to be a bust over LaMelo.
That's for certain
I didn’t realize Clifford was re-hired like that lol. And this team isn’t going in the right direction. The sell off of assets at the trade deadline is going to keep them in the bottom 3 teams of the East for the foreseeable future
They will remain a poverty franchise for the next decade lol
