    Personally I think a few cm of stretch is good. Nothing too major just something small yet noticeable.

    I don't understand tire stretching. Isn't it unsafe to have the tire bead and sidewall stretched like that? Seems the rubber could easily slip down the rim and break the bead

    I agree with the comment by Kommentator....."Why on this green Earth would one do such a thing?" . Must look pretty stupid on a car....sort of like the trend for kids to walk around with their pants hanging down around their knees so you can see their underwear I guess. But to each their own.

    • @AffaGraphics
      @AffaGraphics 8 років тому +3

      +Cathi Wielgus Looks amazing on cars actually! Don't think you understand the car scene. You're probably a mother with a mini van. Nothing like "kids" walking around with their pants down!

    • @austinoverbey594
      @austinoverbey594 8 років тому +1

      I agree with AffaGraphics. It's nothing like the trend that kids call sagging. It's used for lowered cars that have wide rims. Because the car is low and the rims are wide, the tire has to be smaller and stretched so that it can fit under the fender.

    • @lilsammywasapunkrock
      @lilsammywasapunkrock 8 років тому +1

      +Austin Overbey I have a modified car and I think tire stretching is stupid. when you take away the practicality of a car and make it undriveable, its stupid. If your car gets stuck on speed bumps and can't drive down a gravel road without destroying your rims, your doing it wrong.

    • @offensiveshit4999
      @offensiveshit4999 8 років тому +1

      +lilsammywasapunkrock
      when you say rims instead of wheels YOU'RE doing it wrong. I'm pretty sure you've never modified a car if you call wheels rims

    • @lilsammywasapunkrock
      @lilsammywasapunkrock 8 років тому +1

      +itsadamnjoke the rim is the part of the wheel the tire mounts to. I drive in an area with dirt and gravel roads. not having enough side wall when you hit a pot hole, big rock or other obstacle does indeed damage the rim. wheel is used when referring to both tire and rim, they are not interchangeable in meaning.
      let's play a game? tell me how in modified you know my car is, this should be fun.
      I've swapped to 11" brakes, which required a new spindle and mount from a 87-93 mustang. I could have went with a 94-04 gt setup, but I like the 4 lug rims I upgraded to. my past car I converted over from an automatic to a stick shift, which btw, the car was never offered with an automatic. when I finished the swap, it looked factory and performed flawlessly. unfortunately, I moved to a new house with only a two car garage and could only keep one car, so I pulled the motor and trans and have it in storage right now.
      my current car, I've upgraded the alternator with on from a Taurus and also added an electric fan. I removed all power options from the car, power windows seats, everything. I then swapped to some 87 gt seats as they are much more comfortable. I haven't modded this car much outside of the 275/60's and 235/60's I've mounted, but in storage I have a vented rear disk brake with a limited slip 3.55 gear. I also have a 85 mustang gt block that I've converted over to efi and rewired to drop right in, if my current engine last longer then my want to do so. I also have a hood off a 87-88 turbo coupe which I plan on throwing on with the new engine. I've also made custom motor mounts, as the factory mounts are weak and mustang parts do not even come close to fitting. I also have a manual rack for a power steering and a/c delete I plan on installing in the near future.
      in my opinion, a car I can't use for work or blast down a dirt road, or clear a speed bump or survive a pothole is pretty stupid, but hey, I drive my cars, not show them off.
      tell us about how modified your car is and what plans you have in store? I'm curious as to what makes you such an expert.

  • @lambodp
    @lambodp 9 років тому +3

    That just looks so unsafe. The car that will take this rim would look so much better with a proper tire, not the wrong sized tire. I don't understand this trend, but also from a practicality standpoint, this tire could wear out or blow out much sooner than a proper tire.

    • @JustaRegulaKid

      As long as it looks badass nobody cares about safety m8

    • @kainalu9402
      @kainalu9402 8 років тому +3

      It's meant to fit under the fender, which is why they stretch it. It's safe to drive. If you put on the right size tire on a wide rim on a low ass car. You'll rub that tire down to the cords.

    • @tomb9818
      @tomb9818 8 років тому +1

      +Ekolu Dela cruz a 195/50 on a 16x10 is in no way fucking safe. Do some research. People have their tyres pop from the bead during driving with less stretch than this.

    • @kainalu9402
      @kainalu9402 8 років тому +7

      Tom B Do research? There's no need for me to do research, I've been workin at 1320 in Hawaii & stretching tires for over 5 years. I am running 16x10's with 195/50 pro comps on my truck for a really long time, over 30,000 miles. I don't know anybody that has came back to our shop & complaining about their bead popping while driving. Check PSI is number one when coming to stretching. Its safe.
