My toyota camry tint was factory tint,17 years old and it turned brown. I used ammonia and detergent with a scotchbrite scrubbing pad and it worked great. Then used isopropyl alcohol to do final clean and its like it wasnt even there.
Great Video, informative, and to the point! Have to do this with my 4G soon, this really filled in any discrepancies from other videos. Keep up the good work! (Great choice on project car btw)
That's the same exact problem I had trying to remove my rear window tint today. The clear layer came off easy but the tinted layer was still there. Would you reccomend the steamer over the black plastic bag method? I was using a blow dryer and a razor blade. It worked perfectly on the side windows.
Mine has done the exact same thing, however Im unsure what to do about the rear because of the defrost lines, did you end up doing the plastic bag method? and if so, did it work?
Are there 2 layers , clear and dark ? My window tint person said it’s glue but it looks like clear film. The dark 25% portion is off. Help please. He want to use razor to defroster.
Ah the purple tint definately a dyed film as they are they only type that go purple. If you dont have a heat gun just use a garbage bag on the inside of the glass then put the car in the sun for 30mins then it peels off easy.
Velocity Labs best would be search amazon for garment steamer and white scrub pads. I’m not sure exactly which one on the steamer as I bought it two years ago.
2 years later and this vid helped me i have that steamer for clothing but never thought of using it for this lol thanks man!
Old purple tints are a nightmare. This 1 was easy!! Wait till you do the sedans rear windshield!!! Good luck!!!
Good video. Someone put tinted window film on my office window. It’s all most clear now and starting to peel.

@Bri 2813 No, I ended up using a handheld steamer to loosen up the tint adhesive
You guys saw how he used a PLASTIC scraper? Don't use a razor blade on your defroster! You will kill it. This should be obvious.

Nice! Can you link the steamer and that white tint pad in the description?
